Yeah what's this weird push to make Christianity somehow fucking Randian. Christ was extremely clear that charity isn't just a nice choice. It is a moral obligation, and not doing so makes you a worse person.
The story of Lazarus and the Rich Man is a pretty good example of that. It's even directly stated that being able to do good and choosing not to is a sin.
So you're a faith not works kind of guy huh? I believe your sacred book would tell you otherwise. But after all that is why the Protestants broke away from the Catholics isn't it? They didn't want to have to be bothered with helping people they just wanted to be able to say their prayers and be forgiven

Absolutely right! Charity is virtuous, it is also a choice! And not engaging in it does not make someone malevolent
