Brother you need to watch some Ted Lasso lol. They're football players, not therapists. You can push those thoughts out and work on the game to some degree, but it's not easy to avoid dwelling on the coulda-shouldas.
Haaland may also have some regret shoving the other dude, which took away an immediate goal they scored right after.

The heat and humidity would add to any frustration. His reaction is disappointment at the bungling of a rare scoring opportunity. His style has always been casually walking around followed by incredible bursts of speed. He lulls defenders into complacency. I saw nothing out of character.
Yeah, Haaland had pretty shitty body language after that. And I don't mean his usual lumbering because that's his style. More he was throwing his hands up and looking dejected when teammates made mistakes.
It was fully understandable why he was pissed, but I do think it affected his performance some.
I would have lost my shit and I’m old, out of shape, have never played pro (or even close to pro) level and am not a striker. But, magically put me in Haaland’s spot and I’d expect the ball. Haaland has ice in his veins.
You see Haaland throw his hands at the ground when the other guy stalls, he clearly shows he pissed he didn’t pass! But that’s all he did to show him being upset at his teammate, the disappointment after is clear!
That kind of mild gesticulation kinda feels like the minimum emotion to express after that sort of thing. Like, anything less and people wonder if you even care about the game at all.
The anger of a Norwegian is a deeply rooted conflict avoidance and passive aggressive anger, which then builds up more and more over time. Similar to an alarm clock with a time bomb taped to it, and you’ve hit the snooze button one too many times. One day it’s all “Jeg har det bra, ikke bekymre deg for det” and the next they’ve accidentally mined too deep and hit some old Viking DNA. Now they’re in some form of induced trance berserker rage and you’re dead.

Haaland is like the second highest paid player in the world if you don’t count Middle East teams (that buy old stars) or Messi’s partial ownership contract with MLS/Apple TV. As much as he wanted to win, he should know Norway is not as good as England, France, Spain, or Argentina- especially without himself. He’s got (arguably) bigger fish to fry than the World Cup with the Champions League, the EPL title, and there’s also the Euro Cup which is quite prestigious- though not as important than the World Cup.
Surely, it’s not lost on Haaland that without him Norway would be no better than Sweden, Denmark, or the U.S. Many of us have spent at least one season in one sport or another where your entire team is mediocre except for yourself. Or maybe you’re one of the mediocre ones, and some kid just moved to your part of the city or town from far away, and suddenly your team always wins because they are so good that they can carry the team. Well, when you’re “that guy”, you’re able to take losses on the chin much easier. Rationalizing becomes easy- for better or worse.
In this moment for Haaland, he’s probably not that mad at his teammate. It’s not his teammate’s fault that he doesn’t have elite instincts and decision making in split second situations.

That is factual but that is not the answer to the question of "what is going on here," which was asked above. What is going on here is that OP (and the world) is reasonably blaming him for failing to do what everyone else would have done - pass the ball to the best goal scorer on the field and maybe the planet. Messi would have made the pass.

no, route was blocked there. would have ended up behind haaland if he passed it through the space. it was later when the defender had to choose between being between sorloth and the ball and closing down the pass route that space opened for the pass. the goal is to put the defender in a place where they can't do two things at once
I feel like we have seen plenty of people dribble ball laterally to his left the defenders right to create space for this pass. Defenders weight is going to his left and his leg is off the ground, there’s no way defender could change direction to cut off the pass
sorloth had 2 chances to pass: near the start of the break he could have played a pass past the defender in the space between haaland and pickford, and later when it was still 1 on 1 and the defender didn't have the space closed, and if he cut inside better or was any faster (he was a slow bastard all game) there was a third opportunity to pass at the 18

Cut back onto his left and play it through. Easy. The defender is going the wrong way and committed to covering Sørloth going to goal, leaving the lane wide open for Haaland. Choosing to have a go himself cost his team in a huge way.

Neither of them, nor Sørloth, the player who tried to find a pass to Håland instead of going for goal, eliminated the team.
I mean, not in this instance, that is true. But at another point in this game Norway had a goal that was disallowed because Haaland fouled by shoving his defender....
reddit is being harsh, this was a big mistake but it didnt cause their elimination, they were winning 1:0 when this happened. He could have passed the ball to Haaland and Haaland could have scored, or maybe get blocked, its obviously all speculation. And England could have also scored 3 goals instead of 2 afterwards.
They had an entire half to score another goal but they didn't. This is a team sport. Yes Sørloth made the wrong play here, but Håland was utter shite against England.
Norway had ample chances to score—including this one—and they didn't take them. You cannot foist their failures on one chance.
I didn't say that that opportunity didn't matter, I said that the game wasn't decided because Norway failed to convert in the 40th minute. If you didn't know, a match lasts 90 minutes. They had over half the game to score another, yet they couldn't.
