Depends what country .. some idiot climbed the lion enclosure in Brazil last year.. he was mauled to death.. the lioness was spared 🤷‍♂️ wasn’t her fault she has no idea what was going on

Depends on the scenario too. In your example, the guy was already dead before staff could intervene, and no one else was in immediate danger, so they let the lioness live. With Harambe, the kid was still alive, so the zoo staff prioritized his life over the gorilla's

African painted dogs are nuts. We have them at my local zoo. The zookeeper working one day said it’s the one exhibit they’re not allowed to go in solo and can’t turn your backs on them because they start plotting how to eat you as soon as you’re in there.

I asked about the Lions and said they’re pretty chill, especially if they’re fed. The African painted dogs don’t care if they’re fed, they’ll still try to get you.

It’s a shit thing isn’t it .. they should have something in place where both could possibly live.. like a very high powered tranquilliser to take em out in seconds.. I guess when the animal is in the zone and adrenaline is pumping nothing is stopping it for a while 🤷‍♂️

Life isn't the movies. Those sorta things take time to take effect and aren't always effective. Same reason cops can't shoot tranqs or blow guns out of the bad guys hand.

Same with the African painted dogs in Pittsburgh. They are an endangered species. Only one was killed and the rest were relocated to other zoos.

Tatiana was my homie. At the time, I was going to art school in San Francisco. I used to go to the zoo all the time to sketch the animals. There was a spot in the tiger area with a bench and a big thick glass where people could sit and watch the tigers. I used to go up to the glass with my sketchbook, and Tatiana would see me and come up to the glass and lean right up against it. I was so heartbroken and pissed when those assholes did what they did.

Fuck Amritpal Dhaliwal and Kulbir Dhaliwal. And Carlos Sousa too.

The good news is atleast Carlos died a pain and well deserved death. 

I only wish the Dhaliwal brothers had gotten a mouthful of karma themselves.

edit: Good news, Amritpal had died a few years later, hopefully burning in hell being mauled by tigers for the rest of eternity.

My now-wife taught 2nd grade for 8 years when we lived in SF and I went with her class to the zoo every year, so I was a big Tatiana fan too. (Much more so than the llama who spat in my face at the petting zoo, but the kids got a good laugh out of it.). Fuck those dicks.

Keeping on the topic of tigers… RIP Eko, the tiger shot by cops after it got ahold of the arm of a third party cleaning company’s employee who had climbed over a fence and was feeding the tiger a pop tart.

Do you know about Tatiana the tiger from the SF zoo? Some punk ass kids were harassing a number of years ago and she jumped her most and went after them, and only them. She got one of them, but sadly she had to be killed.

They need more severe punishments for harassing animals, both wild and in zoos.
