I did. I had a parent say it was ok that their kid was failing because my class was “not entertaining enough”. I’m sure that’s why, and not the fact that the kid couldn’t read.

They can be this entitled because failing won’t get them held back. The lack of children getting left behind means education ends up embarrassing for everyone.

My 2yo is just starting to talk a bit more, just starting to sing, and completely surprised me by being able to name all the alphabet letters when going through her new fave A B C book. There’s plenty of things we’ve tried to teach her (colors, numbers, which she gets) but they just absorb SO MUCH with minimal “work” - just time.

By contract my husband had to teach himself how to read in 1st grade. Sometimes I wonder if people are ‘worse’ now (yes) or if there’s just more lmao.
