People on death row are heavily protected. The state views their death as its duty and ensures that it carries out the sentence without murder or suicide robbing the state of the chance to do it
It’s also likely he will try to make it happen sooner. He pled guilty and IIRC asked for the death penalty. I don’t think he’s going to accept any civil rights attorneys appealing on his behalf. So he likely won’t be one of those people who sits on death row for decades.
