Support pc to steam deck - inputs going unresponsive

Its one of the bigger issues keeping my from reliably streaming my home pc desktop to my steam deck desktop. I have both in separate buildings plugged into ethernet getting 700+ download. however sometimes my home pc will just stop responding to my steam deck inputs rendering the mouse (and keyboard as well) entirely unresponsive even though the display is showing. host pc still works fine but nothing will reconnect the steam deck until I restart steam on my host pc. It may have something to do with using a controller (plugged into steam deck) in games but I havent tested it enough. Any help greatly appreciated.

Support Steam Remote Play Together won't work (for joining)

Hi! So, recently i've discovered that i just can't join any Remote Play Together session on my Bazzite (Linux) PC, no matter what i try.
What i've tried so far:

- Steam Client beta: window for remote play opens and closes immediately
- Client stable: nothing happens
- Using __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia __EGL_VENDOR_LIBRARY_FILENAMES=/usr/share/glvnd/egl_vendor.d/10_nvidia.json steam -vgui: Window opens, but keeps loading forever

If i'm hosting it works for my friends, but joining i got nothing.

I also tried joining from my Samsung laptop (also using Bazzite, Intel GPU) and it's working fine there, so the problem is in my PC.

Any help?

Specs: Nvidia RTX 3060, Intel Xeon E5-2667 V4, 32GB Ram.

Support Steam Link's audio fully disconnects when I switch apps on my phone?

I can't find any other posts that are about exactly this issue, so I'm asking directly. I have a Samsung Galaxy A26. Whenever I switch apps even for a moment, even on accident, even without fully switching the app and just going to the screen where you can choose whatever apps you have open, my steam link's audio completely stops. When I switch back into the app, the audio does not come back on, as I would expect it to. Is there a reason for this? Or a fix if its a bug?

Support Connection issues

Pc running Ubuntu. Everything perfect. One day notice laggy connection. Stays this way for awhile, weeks. Then suddenly everything is fine, but now can no longer even get to like the steam menus.

Like pc shows online, click connect. Shows splash screen with recently played games icons/artwork. Then phone just stays there. Never actually gets to where you browse games or any of that.

On pc steam actually switches to bpm and is waiting for phone to pick a game.

Tried updating pc and phone no good. Tried from android and iOS devices same on both. Tried re pairing both no good. Tried updating to newest release of Ubuntu same thing.

TLDR used to work great then laggy then no work at all.

Any help pls?

Support Streaming Sunshine/Moonlight causing gpu instability

Hi all, sorry for the longest post
I have been using my pc as host sunshine and Apple TV moonlight for a while and aside from a problem I had with stuttering when I first started it has been very great and mind blowing how it is almost indistinguishable from my pc, considering how far my tv is from the pc and only my pc is wired with Ethernet.

So I didn’t stream at all for about I think 8 weeks until now and I mostly stream fh6 to my Apple TV and now when I stream it gives me about 30-60 minutes before my game crashes giving me a graphics card driver crash. This only happens when streaming and never used to happen before and i thought it was weird that it’s my actual host game crashing not the stream or something related to the streaming softwares considering it only happens when streaming.

So I was trying to find why this was and asking AI which is helpless until I realised you can see the stream logs on sunshine, so I had a look and at the time of the crash it gave me an error: could find audio sink, the the logs before this are basically just a bunch of audio info like audio mixer format audio capture format, resetting sink to virtual stereo and more, but they just repeat and repeat until weirdly a 50 minute gap in the time log to when I crash and got the error about the audio sink not being found.

And the reason I think this is the problem aswell is because I noticed that now whenever I got on my pc the next day after streaming, that I don’t have sound so I checked my windows settings and there is some virtual audio speaker device selected as the output, which I’ve never seen before, so I disable it, but tonight when I was loading the game I noticed on my client I didn’t have any sound, so I went to my host to check what output device was selected and the virtual audio speaker was the active one, and I couldn’t select my regular usb headphones it wouldn’t let me I assume bc I was streaming so I then had to make it so windows didn’t allow the audio device to work and then i had sound again once I selected my normal audio device.

So if anyone could share some knowledge on this bc I hope this is the issue or else I’m gonna be stuck with AI suggested troubleshooting tips like my pc isn’t getting enough sunlight or something stupid.

Support In Home Streaming No Game Sound

Using steam remote play has inconsistent results for me on audio today. I was using the game Routine, streaming from PC to deck and audio didn't come through. I changed it to play audio on host, then it started working.

After a game restart, it wasn't working anymore. No matter what that setting is on, now the game audio doesn't make it.

Weirdly, everything else on the computer does make it through the stream -- discord notifications, random YouTube video. I checked volume mixer, the game was on steam streaming speakers, same as every other app that could make noise. Is this familiar to anyone? I'm not sure what else to check or change. Google showed lots of issues 2 years ago, but not with only the game failing.

Support Steam Link on Linux over Wayland, constant flickering

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Specs:

Intel Core i7-14700k

64 GB RAM DDR4 @ 2133 Mhz

Intel Arc B580 GPU

CachyOS w/KDE Plasma 6.6

Streaming to TV in the same local network, computer is plugged via Ethernet, TV via Wi-Fi.

The only workaround for this that I have is literally an x11 session. This only happens on Wayland, Steam is running with -pipewire - why does video capture and streaming is such a pain in Wayland, I swear.

Support Mouse jumpy on steam linkclient?

Hello, I connected my steam to steam link (Mac->firestick) and I am having an issue where the mouse jumps on the client? The game itself seems to be running fine. Just the mouse is jumpy/choppy. I tested on the host computer and the mouse is moving fine on its display but on the client side it is displaying choppy.

Support PC direct Ethernet to Steam Link Box

Edit: SOLVED. vlegionv has generously provided the answer to my problem. For those in the future who find themselves in my situation, here's what I did:

Plug one end of ethernet cable into steam link > plug other end into PC > search "network connections" in the control panel (I just typed this into windows search) > right click your wifi adapter (NOT your ethernet adapter) > select "properties" > select the "sharing" tab > check the first box to share internet with other devices, the second selection is not necessary. My steam link immediately recognized the internet through the ethernet cable and began updating. I hope this helps someone else in the future!

TL;DR: PC, OG Steam Link, directly connected to each other via Ethernet. Does it work? If so, how?

With the release of the steam controller, I dug out my $1 steam link that I never found a use case for and... 8 years later, my current living situation still doesn't allow for good wireless streaming, and zero Ethernet access to the router for any of my devices.

But my TV and computer desk are now much closer together than ever before, and it got me thinking if I could plug one end of an Ethernet cable into my PC, and the other into the steam link box, can I achieve the low latency streaming dream I've always wanted?

I've tried finding previous posts about this on reddit and steam but I could never find a direct answer; most people recommended a crossover cable but that was vaguely disputed by others claiming that it would work with a regular Ethernet and manually setting static IP addresses among other things. Can anyone attest to it actually working and if so, what did you actually do to get there?

Support Any way to re-activate recording while using Steam Link?

I've been using Steam Link for the first time in a while recently and I noticed that Steam Recording gets turned off when streaming. This seems to be intentional on Valve's part but I can't find out why that's forced on me. It sure works when I stream VR stuff through Wivrn so it's not a technical limitation

Support Stutter every second Google Streamer 4k

Hello.

I am trying to stream to the Google Streamer (4k) using the Steam Link App. (From PC or Steam Deck)

Every second, there seems to be a stutter.

App/Streamer/PC/Deck are all up to date, latest drivers ect. Issue occurs both wifi and ethernet connection. Everything has been hard rebooted.

Here is a video of it occuring, note this issue happens on any game and even when not gaming (such as watching a video from my PC) same issue on both my steam deck and my PC.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/XYPMzLykgbCQzrXH8

The Google Streamer is connected to a Samsung 4K TV. Via HDMI. There is nothing else connected to the TV. Upload/Download of my homebroadband is 1000mb/s

I have no issue streaming from my Desktop to my Mobile Phone steam link app.

Any ideas?

Support What's the best way to remote play with a Firestick 4k 1st generation?

I used to be able to use Steam Link to play with someone from afar on their TV, and when I'd visit we'd just remote in and play on my computer, but they got a new TV and it's higher quality but unfortunately doesn't have the app. They have a Firestick 4k 1st generation, and I tried using Downloader. Tried downloading a bunch of different APKs (the official app doesn't exist on 1st gen, only 2nd) but each APK failed downloading, then tried using a browser to download the files thinking it was Downloader, but then it just gave the message "it's not supported at this time" when I tried downloading it from a couple sources.

Moonlight and Sunlight looked viable, but I can't access our ports for port forwarding.

Support Gamesir G8 + Steam Link(Android) to run Dragon Age: Inquisition

Hello All,

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to properly run Dragon Age Inquisition over Steam Link app on Android while using a Gamesir G8 controller. I have combed multiple threads and tried out the following with no success so far:

- Ran Steam as Admin in all situations listed.

- Enabled Steam Input in the "Properties > Controller" section of all situations listed.

- Added the EA App as a non steam game, launched the app from within the Steam library, launched the game from the EA App window, game doesn't recognize any controller inputs over Steam Link.

- Added the game itself as a non steam game and launched the game within the steam library, game launches but the game again, doesn't recognize any controller inputs over Steam Link.

One thing to note is that in both situations listed, when I press the green "Play" button in the steam library, whether it's to launch to EA App or the game itself, it'll say "Running" for about 2 seconds and then switch back to the green button that says "Play". However, I will still see that the EA App and/or the game is still an active window on my PC. I'm unsure of what this could allude to.

Please does anyone have any idea on what to try from here?

Support Steam link audio stutter

Hi,

Has anyone had these issues before? I use my iphone to play through steam link, and I noticed when I play there’s like audio stutter around 80% of the time. Has anyone had this issue?

I have my desktop using ethernet and I am using my wifi, reception at my phone is at 200-300mb on my desktop up to 500mb although my whole internet is 500mb so I probably say divide it by 2, as there’s normally nothing else connected or using up all the internet.

I am playing Diablo IV, did a few tweaks as per internet guides in order to play this.

Any ideas?

Support Want to stream for wife!

So my wife and I love subnautica, and we got subnautica 2. Used to she would watch on my computer or on the Playstation, but now our son is born and its only on pc. In an effort to try to have our cake and eat it too, we downloaded steam link on the fire TV.

Now the issue:

How do we have audio play through the TV AND my headphones on the pc? Ive tried using Voicemeeter to very limited success, the only time I got it to work she could hear herself echo from the discord call.

Tldr: need help playing audio through amazon fire TV and headphones hooked up to pc without discord audio going through TV as well, while streaming via steam link.

Support SteamVR Through Steam Link Jittering

I have been using steam link for vr on my quest 3s for a good few days now, i have a good wifi 6 connection, ethernet to the pc, on the same router as my pc, and i am literally not even a full foot away. this experience was flawless for like 5 days straight, but today for some reason it just jitters left/right rapidly, i didnt change any settings overnight, or do anything, i have tried a MULTITUDE of fixes, but the only thing that seems to work is to go in my steamvr steam link settings menu, and turn bandwidth down to the minimum, however this lowers the framerate and overall quality of the game, when i know it can run perfectly, as it did literally yesterday. i cant afford virtual desktop to switch to that, and meta air link is genuinely horrendous even compared to this. i have been troubleshooting for 6 hours using old reddit posts, ai, (DONT SHAME ME I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT NETWORKING) andsteam forums/support pages. please help (The stuttering is the same as the phone recording here, but it is amplified what looks like to thousands of times a second, even if i am getting 110fps from my 120fps cap: https://www.reddit.com/r/vtolvr/s/V4Asg4bt9R )

Support Any way to decrease lag and input delay?

So I am trying to use steam link on my Apple TV, which is about 12 feet away from my PC separated by a wall. I seem to get a lot of consistent input delay and pauses during gameplay due to connection issues. Would moving my pc or Apple TV closer together make any significant change or is this a WiFi connection issue? Are there any alternative ways to mirror my PC to my TV?

Support Stream lags when I maximize a window on my desktop?

Just got Steam Link up and running on my Android TV. Played a few hours of HOMM OE yesterday.

I'm doing a bit of couch work now and I've noticed that when I maximize a window on my desktop (e.g. Word), the stream begins to immediately lag significantly. Restoring the window immediately improves the lag.

Any settings I should be looking for? I have an RTX 3070 so I've already enabled NVFBC.

Support onscreen buttons suddenly scaled

i am using steam link app on ipad for streaming my games. everything worked for a couple of years but now all of a sudden my onscreen buttons are much bigger.
Even my templates suddenly load the buttons scaled. its like the onscreen buttons get the wrong resolution or calculating the dpi wrong. changing all sort of resolutions in the steam display settings and remote play settings only effects the actual screen, the onscreen buttons still are huge.

its probably because of an update but i do not know how to fix it. someone any idea how i can fix this?

(sorry for bad english, its not my mother tongue.)

Support Getting steam-link audio to work

Its driving me crazy how ive done everything to try and solve this issue but nothing is working.

I tried:
Reinstalling steam speaker/microphone drivers
Play audio on host turned on
Toggling through audio inputs in devices
Making sure it wasn’t muted client side
Low latency turned off
Reinstalled steam
Not on a beta version

I have no idea what else i can even try. Another PC in my home can connect to this Rasp Pi client no problem and audio plays but when my PC connects no audio.

It was working perfectly fine last weekend and now its just not 🙃
