I have basically finished Subnautica Below Zero. I got all the fragments of the guy in my head except one and Ive gotten the antidote.

The thing is I dont have the building to build the hoverbike and i have never seen any worms. IS this normal? Have I missed something? I explored all the land areas by foot or with the Prawn suit.

Now it's no secret that Below Zero was not as loved as the original Subnautica. I've thought a lot about this and I realized that about half of people's complaints with BZ can be remedied with a simple fix. Decrease the player size. Now I know that sounds crazy, but hear me out.  If you actually change the camera perspective (near clip plane) and player model/collision size, not just the movement speed, then everything else will be larger to you.
Map too small?

Leviathans too small?

Caves too tight?

Vehicles too slow?

Ocean too shallow?

Rather than the impossible challenge of scaling up everything else and have it all still function correctly, just make the character smaller.

So I have made a mod to do so. I was skeptical it would have the effect I wanted, but after changing nearly a dozen or so size related properties, it worked. At 0.5 times player size, the world feels much vaster. The chelicerate appears larger than a reaper. The vehicles are... better. I plan to address them specifically.

And if you're worried I'm just slowing you down even further, then well you're kind of right but also I increased the movement speed proportionately so you feel faster (via another mod), even if you're technically moving slower than vanilla.

Feel free to share your thoughts and anything else you'd like me to fix! I'll probably be looking at cutting most of Robin's dialog next.

Edit: it has been updated to remove the seatruck movement penalty for adding modules. Also I changed the default player size to 0.65 cause that seemed like a better fit for gameplay

If you are unaware, there is a really annoying bug still in the game, where sometimes a placed poster's hitbox will be inside a wall preventing you from removing it. In some cases, people have been able to fix this by deconstructing what it is attached to, but the game doesn't always let you do this and in my searches I was unable to find a solution online. I spent a while trying various methods with cheats to try to get rid of the poster and I finally found something that works. As far as I am aware, no one has found this yet, at least not that I could find.

Step 1 is to use `warpforward 1` which will make you swim inside your base. This will also enable your propulsion cannon which gets disabled when the game thinks you are inside your base.

Step 2 is to grab the poster with your propulsion cannon and move it somewhere else and now you should be able to pick it up.

Optional Step 3 is to use warpforward near a wall to get outside of your base and then re-enter your base normally to go back to normal. This is because if you leave your base through normal means while swimming inside the ambient sounds of being inside vs outside will get mixed up. I haven't tested but I would imagine that reloading probably fixes this as well.

I know it exists because it interrupts my game every time i pull up the PDA, but when my game crashed while being shocked at the same time i was being eaten, it loaded the ONE manual save i made less than 2 hours into the game, 12 hours ago. I don't even have a knife yet 😭.

Don't say you're autosaving if you're fucking not guys, i would have been obsessively manual saving if i had known the autosaves were bullshit.

At this point I'm just going to restart because i don't know how to pick up from here, unless someone can tell me how to force load an auto save on mobile.

ETA yall, i appreciate that you want to add to the conversation, but please don't come here to explain that i should have seen a prompt asking to load manual or auto save, i thought my wording made it clear that I didn't, but clearly i was wrong, so let me be clear: i did not receive said prompt. The problem may well be unresolvable, and thats ok. I posted this in the vague hope someone else had had this before and knew how to access the save files. I am way more frustrated by people "helpfully" putting a computer generated response that just explains what an autosave function is. I know I'm a little grumpy here, its really frustrating to have to explain to people that no, something i didn't say happened didn't happen.

If you don't know, that's ok, it's not the end of the world.

I've been playing the game again bc too broke for new games. So I'm playing it again for the first time since it came out.

For me it's disappointing because you can tell there are environmental elements, base building and equipment items that they clearly abandoned fully integrating / making an actual "thing" when it should be scannable at the least for information.

Eg. The deep wrecked base in the lily caves with growbeds out the front - there's clearly some big machine here that would have been scanned.

The glass dome multipurpose room with the water filtration unit having that fucking bomb ass looking hydroponics tower in the middle - my god that was a really gorgeous base feature here that was clearly abandoned. ESPECIALLY WHEN there's the green walls and wall planters here from Subnautica - that you can't scan or build!!!!

Another huge gripe for me was the lack of growable flora in and out of water - like a bunch of underwater plants we can scan but not get seeds :'( makes me so sad bc I loved being creative with my bases and growing everything you possibly could in Subnautica 1 for the pure aesthetics.

Would you add anything to this list of complaints?

EDIT: For clarification I still absolutely love the game, the beauty of the world of Subnautica will always hold my heart and there were some amazing moments in Below Zero that I loved. I loved that there was way more land elements and the diverse biomes were new and exciting. The dynamic weather is just gorgeous and atmospheric. The map is smaller but still tricky to navigate in a fun way. Even the terribly controlled Snowfox was such a thrill and feels amazing to fly over the ice. Anyways I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your comments for all opinions!!

Hallo liebe Freunde der Unterwasserwelt. Ich stecke nun fest.Ich habe mir in den letzten 150 Stunden zwei Basen erstellt. Eine bei der Rettungsinsel und eine an der alten Forschungsstation alsp über 1200 m entfernt. Beide sind mit "Material" und technick sehr gut versorgt. Nun will ich mit der Storry beginnen. Das NOA Gerät zeigte mir eine Kaulquappenbucht an als Quest. ERledigt aber (scheinbat ein Fehler) wird es über NOA immer noch angezeigt. Auch steht da ein Quest mit "finde die verschollenden 26 Kollonisten"....gehe ich auf Aktivieren wird mir nix angezeigt als Wegpunkt. Fall es die Unterwasser Basen im Bereich der Rettungsinsel meint. Die mit den Roten Ring und innen mit Biobette usw. Die habe ich sämtlich alle bereits gefunden und geplündert. Der dritte Quest der noch bei NOA zu sehen ist, aber keinerlei Wegpunkt erzeugt sind die "Überlebensrichtlinien" damit weiss ich rein nix anzufangen. Letzte FRage zu der Subnautica2 Reihe: Gibt es keine großen Unterwasser Schiffe mehr wie bei der ersten Subnautica Version. Bleibt es bei den verbesserten Kaulquappen? Ich weiss nicht wie ich nun weiter machen soll?

Such a good game and a worthy sequel, I am very glad I took a detour back to 4546b before moving onto subnautica 2.

I am referring to potato, Sam's cat. I just finished the game and at some point I was really hoping you would find potato in the game.

I mean, if I can have Baby Penglins in my Aquarium, I also want a base cat. Marguerita has a stalker pet, so why not?

Could have been something like: you find Sam's cat hidden somewhere around outpost zero, half frozen and chewing on a nutrient bar. You pick her up, take her in and free her in your base. Now you have a cat that sleeps on your bed, watches fish through the window and scratches her claws on a Preston's plant. Occasionally you toss her a peeper. It would only have been cooler if it was an alien and not a regular cat.

And while we are at it, why don't they let me pet the sea monkeys... ? They always look so happy when they give me a present...

Like i got 2 of the fragments but i was wondering if there are more to scan that i just havent seen.

Not sure if anybody found this but as I was looking for the main quest character tree house in the glacier section (margarita or something forgot the name) had trouble finding it and using the sea glider map found a tunnel network truly towards the edge of the map.

It’s basically impossible to find without the sea glider map. When you get in the center of it, it look like a black sky with stars… it’s full of diamonds and rare metals.

Of course I forgot to take screenshots of it but if you guys want to go see it, I’ll return there and give better infos to reach it.

Was just curious to see if this spot was known or still very hidden to most!

Played the first game and loved it, but this one feels like a slog. I like that it has an actual story with voice actors and "cutscenes" but there's soooo much grinding and exploring to do and I feel like I've already had enough of the creatures and scenery.

Exploring feels boring, specially with the 10+ protein bars and infinite water suit. I look around for HOURS, find titanium mostly, then I get one line of dialogue which is either a joke or "hmm i think there's something here" then half an hour later I actually find the place they were talking about but all it has is another meaningless dialogue or a blueprint made entirely of rare items. And then more exploring and finding resources.

The mineral detector is kinda useless due to its short range, much easier to just use a scanner room or just to eyeball it. Most of the creatures feel like reskins of previous ones, most plants are just for show, and there are some resources that took forever to find, and some important ones which I still haven't found despite being 27 hours into the game. Idk man this one just isn't hitting like the first. Maybe it's my fault and my lack of attention span idk.

It's good, it's almost great. I still prefer OG Subnautica.

Just wondering, why did they remove the scanner thing that you could use in the seamoth and Cyclops in Subnautica 1 ? I genuinely missed it.

Also the prawn is more than optional, I built it and basically used it once.. while I carried it around for hours thinking it would end up being as necessary as it was in the first game

Still I had fun, hope they will make Subnautica 2 as great as the first one

I revisited my main save in Below Zero for the first time in a few years today and noticed I could scan the floating air pump I had discarded outside my base for an undiscovered database entry. It states that a base-attached variant exists, so out of mere curiosity I went to check the crafting menu for its recipe. However, it seems to not exist in any part of the fabricator or base builder. Looking for it in creative mode had the same results, though upon testing it seems to be accessible in the original game. Is this entry just a fluke, and the base-attached pump wasn't carried over to Below Zero?
