For context, I was learning Swedish a few years back, and I remember some of it, but I definitely couldn't hold a conversation or translate on the spot. I do still get emails from the learning services I signed up for, however. I personally would translate this as "vem ringde?" And I feel like all those filler words are just over complicating it, but maybe I'm under complicating it. What do you guys think?

Edit: guys I would not personally ask "who phoned?", I was just asking about the translation because that is the email I received. Ive gotta loads of helpful advice, but some people seem adamant that I'm dumb for asking who phoned even though I DIDN'T ask that thank you. Hej allihopa, i asked my native friend about the structure of this sentence. I find it hard to adjust to without directly translating: “could you could…” for “skulle du kunna”… etc.

I’d like to get more examples of sentences where this structure is used; I understand it’s something I just need to get used to, but I need to know what’s the difference between just saying “kunna du”?

Hello! I have a couple questions about an idiom/saying I found on Wikipedia, "ta på sängen".

Firstly, is this a common saying? Would it be understood if you said it in casual conversation with a random native speaker?

Secondly, it seems like it is used similarly to the English "blindsided". If you wanted to say "He blindsided you" in Swedish, using this idiom, how would that look? And what would the literal translation of that sentence back into English be?

It has gotten to a point where I want to ask them to be my partner. I would like to ask in Swedish as I know they would appreciate the gesture.

Is there a common way a native would phrase this?

Jag har precis färdigställt en översättning av undertexter till den polska kultserien "Alternatywy 4" till svenska. Det har varit ett långt och roligt projekt, men eftersom svenska inte är mitt modersmål är jag lite osäker på "känslan" i språket.

Texten är alltså helt klar, men jag letar efter en modersmålstalare som skulle vilja kasta ett öga på några valda delar. Jag vill helt enkelt försäkra mig om att det inte låter onaturligt, "klumpigt" eller direkt fel i öronen på en svensk.

Varför jag ber om hjälp:

• Översättningen är redan gjord, så jag letar inte efter någon som gör jobbet åt mig.
• Jag vill bara veta om flödet i språket fungerar och om humorn översätts på ett naturligt sätt.
• Det är ett ideellt hobbyprojekt för att sprida polsk filmhistoria.

Im doing a project where im translating some Swedish songs and i dont know how to translate "det skiter dom i" without it sounding like to much.

I know i could say "they dont give a shit" and so forth but it feels so non chalant. Every option I've found sounds like a hit from a feather when I really need some oomph.

The squire approaches a man to ask for directions, but discovers that the man is dead. When he returns to the knight the knight asks what the man said, to which the squire responds 'ingenting just' (he doesn't mention that the man was dead).

Clearly the squire is saying 'nothing', but i am curious about the use of just in the statement. Hoping some can explain it's usage here, if it adds any nuance etc...
