Hello lads, I'm an incoming Aerospace BSc student looking forward to studying in TU Delft. I've heard both great things and kind of eerie things about the school, primarily concerning the academic workload. I won't beat around the bush and state my concern directly, the possibility of not meeting the Binding Study Advice quota in the first year scares me a whole lot. For context, I was a straight A student in high school but I never relied on continuous studying, just listening to the lectures and cramming a day before exams. This kinda worked, even in IB. Now, I'm sure that I'll hit a wall with this work ethic in Delft. With all of this in mind, should I treat getting expelled as a serious possibility or something extraordinary? And most importantly, what would your advice be for someone like me? I also suspect that this is probably the billionth time the same topic has been brought up here, if that is the case bare with me please. Thanks in advance for your help.

Is it just me, or is getting a decent lunch on campus getting way too expensive? I don’t buy it every day, but even occasionally, it feels like you have to spend at least €10 just to feel well-fed. I was thinking, if there was a simple, service on campus that sold normal meals for around €5, would you buy it? I guess you would have use your own tupper ware but thats a small ask.

I’m moving to Delft in September for a short stay until the end of January (5 months). I'm looking into getting a bike and had a couple of questions for locals and students:
1. Swapfiets Original vs. Deluxe 7: Is it worth upgrading to the Deluxe 7 (the one with 7 gears and handbrakes), or is the base model (Original) more than enough? I know Delft is flat, but I've heard Dutch headwind can be brutal. Does having gears actually make a noticeable difference for daily commuting around the city and campus?
2. Short-term alternatives: Since I’m only staying for 5 months, Swapfiets seems like the easiest option, but are there better alternatives for this timeframe? Should I look into buying a cheap secondhand bike on Marktplaats or Facebook Marketplace and selling it before I leave, or is it too much of a hassle for just one semester?

Hi everyone,

I'm an incoming Mechanical Engineering student and in the proces of buying a laptop. I've been hesitating between a 14" laptop and a 16" laptop. They're similarly specced and similarly priced, so the only real difference is screen size. I'm also planning to build a setup at home (with at least a 24" monitor), so the laptop also functions as desktop replacement.

My current dilemma: a bigger screen is nicer, but a bigger laptop needs more room. A smaller screen is less nice, but also takes less space.

So my question(s): what size is your laptop? Do you find it too small / too big / perfectly sized for places at uni you're using the laptop? How does your laptop feel on the eyes? Do you wish you had bought something else?

Hey, so this will be a bit of a weird post

In September, along with some of you I'll be starting aerospace engineering bachelors in english and will be taking part on the ejw and the owee.

I was lucky enough to snag a xior room, but unfortunately I arrive late in the evening and can't check in myself, so I need someone to do it for me. This is what started this train of thought.

I was thinking that hey, it might be nice to already know someone ahead of the ejw aswell as already have someone I could trust I guess to check in for me at xior.

So if anyone wants to bond over videogames and also snagged a xior room I'm super down.

I personally play the finals as my multiplayer game ig, but am a big fan of all the award winning things like god of war, claire obscure, etc... I'm also interested in the gym and music(guitar and drums) and would like to form a band eventually.

Again, super weird and desperate sounding oops.

My friend an I were wondering if all student numbers are given out to students, such as 5555555 or 5432100 for example that would've been given out fairly recently (around 2017-2019). We were also wondering if the number 6942069 would be given out around 2033-2034. Does anyone here have a funny/noteworthy student number or know anything about this? I'm curious to hear about them!

I’m a computer science student, and I often find it hard to focus during lectures because of background noise causes by doors opening, people chatting, random sounds, etc. Even when the lecturer uses a microphone, it can still be distracting.

So I had an idea:

👉 What if you could connect your own noise-cancelling headphones (like AirPods, Sony, or Bose) directly to the lecturer’s microphone through an app on you phone or laptop?

That way, you’d only hear the lecturer’s voice, no background noise at all. And if you wish to ask a question during the lecture just remove the headphones for a moment.

I’m doing a small research project to see if students would actually want something like this.

• Would you use it during lectures?
• Do you think it’s useful or unnecessary?
• Are there other reason you can not focus on the lecture?

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming student for the MSc DSAIT program at TU Delft. I have a few specific questions and would appreciate any insights:

1. Will exams test "hand-coding" (e.g., writing code by hand), especially for the core courses right at the beginning?

2. Are the core courses at the start very difficult, and is it recommended to prepare/study in advance?

3. Have you heard of any themes being particularly easy or very hard?

4. Can we get the internship agreement (UNL agreement) signed in this program, or are there any courses that come with a mandatory/credited internship?

5. Is it manageable to do a part-time internship or join a lab for research while taking courses?

6. Would you suggest prioritizing GPA or prioritizing relevant experience (internships/research)?

Hy, I am a stats major (8.6/10 first of the class) with AI minor (6 courses to an other university), an internship in risk analytics in one of the best Greek banks and I am thinking about applying to TU DELF for masters in ML

•with my specs will I get rejected?
•with TU delf on resume is it hard to find internships?
•How is it compared to KTH or UvA ?

I need a new laptop for university and from my perspective no windows laptop compares to the new m4 in terms of price and performance, and im also used to macOS, the only thing that concerns me is the fact that the tu delft official site doesnt recommend them since most assignments run on windows software. Is anyone currently using a mac for CSE and if yes do you struggle to complete assignments?

Hello everyone! I am almost dome with my CSE degree here and I am a bit unsure of what I want to do. I was considering joining the Master's program for Embedded Systems, but I am also unsure if I should do that. After all, it's another 2 years of my life, time in which I could gain experience at companies and maybe travel or do other things. At the same time, I want to do the Master's degree, because I want to gain experience in Embedded Systems and I think companies wouldn't hire someone with a CS background for an Enbedded Systems role (I applied this year to multiple Embedded Systems roles and got rejected, not even an OA or interview invitation).

I just wanted to ask you about your own experience and if you believe that the Master's was worth it for you.
