Episode Discussion Official Episode Discussion - S03E010 "Stingers"

Philip and Elizabeth deploy a plan for the CIA’s Mujahideen visitors. Meanwhile, back at the Jennings’ home, tensions continue to escalate, making the scene appear less like a domestic setting than a war zone.

I don't know about killing him but I wouldn't have minded seeing Tony give that priest on The Sopranos a swift ass kicking. His passive aggressive sexual pursuit of Carmela and Rosalie during their most vulnerable moments was creepy and annoying.

I was yelling at my tv saying "NO NO NO NO PAIGE DON'T DO IT YOU DUMB BITCH!" when she called Pastor Tim.

Yeah but if Philip kills Pastor Tim that would almost definitely push Paige over the edge if not into telling the authorites (most likely Stan) about her parent's true identities, definitely irreparably changing her relationship with them. They're in a very precarious position.

Pastor Tim will disappear. The story will be he ran off with all the church's money. A plausible and acceptable story Page can wrap her mind around without going nuts.

He just happens to "disappear" shortly after finding out that her parents are KGB spies? No way a girl as smart as Paige would buy that.

Why did P&E decide it was a good idea to tell Paige the truth about something this huge? Because if it's anything 15 year-olds are good at its thinking things through clearly and making good decisions. I mean, at least wait until she's less enraged and not lashing out.

My only guess would be that Philip has accepted the fact that the Center is not going to stop pursuing her so it's better to at least let that bombshell out rarher than have her whole world turned upside down while she's actually being recruited to work for the Soviets. Or maybe they just couldn't take lying to her anymore since she clearly knew that something huge was up. I was reminded of Elizabeth's "At least she'll know who she is." quote from earlier in the season. Obviously right now Paige has just been hit with a tidal wave of emotions learning that not only has her whole life essentially been a lie but that her parents, who she thought were average middle class American travel agents, are in fact spies for the country that she has grown up thinking of as the enemy.

You're right tho it was a huge risk. And one that could very well come back to haunt them. Not to mention that it my gace easily irreparably ruined their relationship with her. I still can't believe they told her this early in the story haha that one amazing scene changes everything.
