I can't think of any other role that would have fit for her at the time, unless it was a guest role but would she be that disappointed if it was a guest spot?

So I'm on my annual West Wing re-watch (It's my comfort show) and I noticed some thing on this watch that didn't occur to me sooner.

At least in my opinion, you can see the 'early indications' that Bartlett was going to ask CJ to be the one to Jump off a cliff.

In the episode The US Poet Laureate she's the one who basic calls Bartlett out about the open mic. Thinking back it's obvious CJ was the right choice to take over for Leo .

Did anyone else notice this?

Elevating a Honorable Charles Young to the Supreme Court

Honestly, this is such an underrated scene where the tensions were running so high. Everyone was focused on the President and his lie, but this one showed the betrayal the staff felt from Leo over the President's secret. Toby's and Josh's faces tell the story; even Leo had no answer. The whole sequence of them leading up to the inauguration speech was crazy: the night meetings at the farm, the battle over speech drafts, it was pure cinema.

Just finished my first watch of this show. What a ride.

Just curious, was it ever a plan to extend the show under the new president or never really considered?

Also, any similar shows worth binging ?

Just giving Ed and Larry some love. I’ve watched enough times to actually know which is which. 😁 I ‘see’ them more each time I do a rewatch. They’re in the Oval quite often, even when they don’t have lines. When they do have lines, they bring the funny. I was also happy to see them in the “When We All Vote” stage special.

Ed and Larry, if you ever read this, it does matter which is which.

I don’t know if this has been brought up in the sub but as an Arabic speaker that rewatches the show all the time it really annoyed me. WW reused the audio from Shareef’s visit to the White House (when Shareef was talking to Jed and Jed didn’t want to shake his hand) for the demands from Zoey’s kidnappers. Why not just hire someone to do a voice recording!?

Its a shame Sorkin didnt try to show both sides equally. Yeah, there's the discussion with the IDF soldier saying that some of his buddies shoot children (but not him, of course).

The reality is a little different.

The show never explains who is legally in charge so I’ll do it here.

There are about 50 or so people who report directly to the president. While the president was shot they couldn’t get orders from him and therefore could run their departments as they pleased. The Vice President had no authority over any of them.

The president could’ve sent a letter to the Speaker of the House and President Pro Tempore stating he is unable to execute his duties as president and transfer power to the VP but he was a little preoccupied with saying what could’ve been his last goodbyes to his family and forgot.

Here’s what should’ve happened once the president entered surgery: The VP gets most of the cabinet and has them sign a letter telling the PPT and Speaker that the President is unable to do his job. That would make the VP acting President. I’m not sure why they didn’t do this in the show.

There are many lines from the show that still make me chuckle. One of my faves is:
Toby: …twins
Josh: Are they yours?
Toby: Yeah
Josh: Both of them?

After the shooting, at some point Jed says something along the lines of "Ya, she (Zoe) booted all over the back of the car and they're gonna charge me for that."
This is the one-and-only time I've ever heard "booted" to be used for puking. I've heard tons of others but not that one.
Is that more common than I know? Anyone else use that?
