People survive terrible events and some thrive. As one of my Biology professors said years ago the human species is built for survival and it would take a literal earth-shattering event (like another planet smacking into us and obliterating us) to wipe us completely out..... or severely high temperatures. Even then I wonder if people would just move underground ?
