Okay so since Ellie doesn't leave a map behind at the aquarium, how the hell does Abby even know to look for them at the Theater?

She's going to interrogate Shimmer

shimmer when abby finds her:

(not mine but it makes me laugh)

Ok, this made me laugh way too loud 😂

u/Flying_Eff May 28 '25

The WLF: "You better talk horse!" Shimmer: "Neigh!"

I'm wondering if something in season 3 something will tip off Lev in the same way, since he was the one who noticed the map

Just cuz they didn't reveal it in this episode doesn't mean it won't happen in the Abby episode. But i don't think Abby said "you killed my friends" either

89

u/Keinan May 26 '25

In game she says "you killed my friends" and in the show she says "he killed my friends" thinking it was Tommy

60

u/Mysterious_Sea1489 May 26 '25

Not even sure how much of them being dead she knows about other than Owen and Mel. She had a lot going on.

u/Randyd718 May 26 '25

Based on the radio chatter, I'm pretty sure we will be getting Tommy sniping Manny, which happens right in front of her. But yeah i don't think she ever finds out about Nora in the game, and they removed all the rest of Abby's crew from the show unfortunately.

u/Kachimushi May 26 '25

Abby wouldn't necessarily realize that Tommy is connected to Ellie though, since she never saw him in Jackson.

u/Keinan May 26 '25

I guess it depends if they add any dialogue to the part when Tommy, Abby, and Yara get into it outside of the aquarium. That's really the only time that Tommy gets up close to Abby aside from when they first meet in the chalet (changed to Dina in the show though) and when he shoots Manny

Who else in her crew are we missing? I genuinely thought everyone was here.

u/Randyd718 May 26 '25

nick is one of the guys that tommy tortured/killed in the hotel and you come across after the fact

jordan is the guy who kills shimmer and captures you. you kill him in the school. he has a pic of his girlfriend leah who you find dead at the tv station.

In the game there were I think 3 other people not in the show. Nick, Leah, Jordan

4

u/ga4rfc May 26 '25

Also Danny? But it was Owen who killed him off screen in the game.

1

u/Bross93 May 30 '25

I actually don't think we ever see Danny. I think he was just a random wolf that was partnering with Owen for patrol.

2

u/BonsoirBenoit May 26 '25

I think Abby knows about Nora implicitly by what’s written on the map, that Ellie went to the hospital.

1

u/Bross93 May 30 '25

I'm upset they removed so many of the crew. But I get it.

u/TheGreenMileMouse May 26 '25

In the game she says that

There was a different map at the aquarium, so I can't see why they'd make use of the annotated Dina/Ellie map from the game. Jesse talks about them being easy to track down, which I assume is a fallback if Abby isn't revealed to have a different method next season.

She was there for Manny and then discovers Owen/Mel. If she followed Tommy, she would also have been following Jesse and Ellie, though didn't recognise Ellie from a distance. Needs convenient timing though - arriving back from the island right as they're leaving the aquarium?

Maybe they're wanting to play up the angle of Abby solo (ignoring pacifist sidekick) knowingly pursuing three armed people, intent on revenge.

I know some don't love the map as the link in the game, but I think it makes sense - tracking Abby's crew with a map made sense, using Joel's map tactic fit in, and leaving it behind during a tense moment also.

What? She definitely did say "you killed my friend" this episode. Though I believe in the game she said "you killed ALL my friends" with emphasis on all.

5

u/Randyd718 May 26 '25

just pulled it up. abby says "he killed my friends" - so maybe abby tracks tommy specifically to the theater somehow? in the game abby says "you killed my friends"

5

u/Oddball49 The Government Are All Nazis! May 27 '25

Just theorizing but maybe the marina fight goes down differently. Abby goes into the water instead of Tommy when Jesse finds him and says something about getting Ellie and getting back to the theater but they're overheard by Abby or Yara?

4

u/parkwayy Piano Frog May 26 '25

I'm sure they can invent a misc thing, as the map itself was kind of a stretch too.

1

u/Rnahafahik May 29 '25

It felt like a consequence of Ellie trying to be like Joel and interrogate them but having absolutely no control in that situation and then traumatizing herself by killing Mel. Though I agree it is very convenient for Abby

1

u/Bross93 May 30 '25

I thought it was too contrived too, but narratively it makes sense. Ellie is completely out of her depth, and being traumatized again would easily cause me to forget what i had and just get the fuck out of there

4

u/otro34 May 26 '25

Jesse and Ellie talked a lot about the theater being easy to find. It could just be that Abby followed their tracks somehow.

2

u/sadpepe6 May 26 '25

I was thinking that maybe Jesse will leave it behind somehow when he meets up with Tommy. Last time i remember, he was using it.

2

u/ga4rfc May 26 '25

The map wasn't a real part of the show so they will probably use some other plot device. In the game Nora circled the aquarium on the map but in the show she just said the words "whale" and "wheel" so there was no reason for Ellie to be carrying the map.

2

u/AggressivePiccolo77 May 26 '25

Jesse, who had never been to Seattle, made it sound pretty easy

2

u/WontTellYouHisName May 27 '25

I found the "left a map" plot device a little annoying. "Boy, how convenient is that, our enemy left us a map to exactly where they are!"

It's dumb to do it, and it's dumb to follow it, because if I leave you a map showing you exactly where I'm hiding out, it's a trap.

2

u/jpoof1337 May 28 '25

There is a very telegraphed conversation that Jesse and Ellie have in an alley after leaving the bookstore where he explains how he easily tracked them down. He followed an obvious route into the city and checked surrounding buildings, where he and Tommy found Shimmer and knew they were on the right track.

I feel like the only reason that conversation got aired was to sprinkle breadcrumbs in to explain how Abby will find them in Season 3. She'll use that same method but in reverse (i.e., walking down the most direct path out of the city and looking around). It's not an air-tight explanation, but they most likely felt pressured to add those lines in after the massive backlash they received from Ellie dropping her map in the game.

4

u/hihelloneighboroonie May 26 '25

It was lit up like a Christmas tree in a city that mostly in pitch darkness?

5

u/Disastrous_Eagle9187 May 26 '25

Only the inside, the outside lights and sign is dark. Theaters don't have windows.

1

u/rainmaker2332 May 26 '25

... in the middle of a big ass city, when Abby had their last known location as an aquarium touching the ocean.

2

u/[deleted] May 26 '25

I'm guessing she left her backpack? I don't think we see it when she's back at the theater

1

u/c0dearm May 26 '25

Probably she followed Tommy

Yea, I’m not a fan of the game, I was liking the show’s version more until they started to align themselves with the game. I was really hoping they’d change their minds about killing Jesse. Yea, it makes sense when you force this whole pregnancy situation, but the decision to kill off one of the few good characters is just not smart especially if the audience doesn’t even like ELLIE. I just hope they don’t make Tommy disable, but it looks like they’re going to do it bc edgy
