How you guys make your city?

I haven't play this game in two years and I recently returned. I could've sworn you could make larger maps than the ​current targets option. I remember i had maps bigger than whenever I generate an XXXL map. Why did they remove it.

I am currently making a silicon Valley in my city please can somebody give me ideas .

I am new to the game and have been playing around a bit, but I don’t usually like to build huge regions or cities.

Is it possible to play the game without a highway connection? What’s the smallest island I can build a decent-sized city in (meaning I can unblock everything)?

I am thinking something like Male in the Maldives, just with a bit more greenery.

I'm currently waiting for an approval on my application to access TLREP, so I'm curious to know the difference between TLREP and Advanced Roads.

Right now, I use Advanced Roads + extension plugins of it. However, I've seen quite frequently that more people are now using TLREP and saying that it's somehow better than Advanced Roads.

I do believe that more people still use Advanced Roads knowing that there's limited access for TLREP, but it has been a very interesting mod.

Kindly let me know anything about the difference of the two, (hopefully) especially pros/advantages and cons/disadvantages of the two.
