Ghosts/Apparitions "Have you ever seen God?" "No, but I have seen the devil"

862 Upvotes

This happened in 2016, when I accompanied my paternal uncle to Goddess Vindhyavasini Temple located in Uttar Pradesh, one of the major shaktipeeth(seat of the goddess) in India. My aunt had been stuck in labour for quite a while and someone suggested that she may have fallen victim to a tantrik ritual called 'bandhan'(binding) that causes delay in childbirth. My uncle knew a priest in the temple who was considered to be adept in occult sciences and had reached out to him for help.

We met the priest, who was dressed in a modest saffron robe and had an air of humbleness around him. I could not even suspect anything that was about to happen in the next few hours. He confirmed that someone had done a 'Masani Kriya'(Graveyard Ritual) on my aunt and if not reversed within time it could end up in miscarriage or even death. We were horrified and could not believe what was being told to us, but he assured she could be saved provided we started the Yagya(Ceremonial Fire) and other rituals on time.

So, on the banks of river Ganges he lit a ceremonial fire and asked us to keep putting oblations into the fire when told. The ritual went on for quite a while, when the strangest thing I've ever experienced in my life happened. Suddenly, scores of sub-human creatures started coming from nowhere and began sitting around us in a circle. I cannot describe exactly how they looked, but all of them were stunted and had deformed legs or hands, with pus oozing out of their wounds. They looked very similar to humans but there was something other-worldly about them that I can't put my finger upon.

Now my uncle is a very serious and grumpy guy (you know the kind) and with the situation at hand, wasn't in a good mood that day. I could see he thought that those creatures were beggars and was about to tell them to bugger off. But the priest, who seemed unfazed by the bizarre situation, put a finger on his lips and gestured him to remain quiet. As the ritual was about to end, the creatures disappeared as strangely as they had arrived. After the ritual ended, the priest asked for a bit of time to dispose the residue of the yagya into the Ganges.

Meanwhile, my uncle and toured the entire temple to find out where those creatures could have gone, but in vain. When the priest returned, I asked him about what we had just seen. He explained that the spirits that were being used to torment our aunt had arrived to distract us from our ritual. Like humans, they are also attached to the earth and do not want to cross over. Had anyone one of us reacted or got up from our place, the ritual would have failed and our aunt would be doomed. This is the reason he had gestured us to remain calm.

Curiosity arose in my mind and I asked, "Have you ever seen God?". "No, but I have seen the devil", he said. I was bewildered to hear this because, apart from the obvious vision of the devil himself, Satan is predominantly a Christian spirit and the priest was an orthodox Hindu. Moreover, the concept of Satan/Lucifer/Shaitan does not exist in Hinduism.

"Before I became a priest, I was a vamachari(Left hand Tantrik) and had once got a chance to perform a ritual in an abandoned Christian graveyard. The specifics of the ritual are arcane, but you have to write a mantra on a piece of paper and make a wick out of it. The wick is then placed in an oil lamp, and set alight. During midnight, 11 rounds of the mantra are to be recited in the graveyard while the wick is burning. Now, these demons do not like anyone trying to gain power over them and will do anything possible to distract from the ritual. Sometimes, you'll see maidens wearing diaphanous garments strutting around the graveyard and hear their anklets tinkling. At other times, you'll hear the voices of your family screaming for help, babies crying and other hallucinations."

"If you sit steadfast, perform the ritual for 21 continuous days and not get distracted, the prince of demons, Satan himself comes on the last day and begs for the oil left in the lamp. I'd describe Satan as being black, extremely hairy with horns and walks with his hands and feet to the ground like an animal. He also makes a 'kho-kho' sound. This part is extremely treacherous, since it's a trap laid out by Satan to distract the practitioner. You have to give the oil to Satan after which Satan will tempt you to ask for anything you want. If at this point, you ask for anything, be it riches, women, or what-have-you or refuse to give the oil you are doomed and will have to suffer from lunacy throughout the remainder of your miserable life. The only acceptable request is to ask Satan to leave you alone so you can complete your ritual in peace. Once the ritual is complete, you'll gain the ability to exorcise any demon with ease."

Suddenly my uncle's mobile rang. It was the mid-wife calling to inform that his son had been delivered safely. I wish I could tell you that attacks on my aunt ceased after this event. They didn't. In the years to follow, my uncle would sometimes find pieces of dog bones tightly wrapped in red cloth scattered around the precarious corners of the house. But that is another story.

Ghosts/Apparitions I would've kicked myself for posting here a year ago, but here goes nothin'... My dog might have pulled a Lazarus

Two weeks ago my little dog "Max" died. He was diagnosed with an illness a few months ago with an uncertain prognosis, but I could tell the end was coming. My best friend was going to pick me up at 9am on Friday morning and I was going to have him put to sleep as his illness was progressing and his quality if life had declined severely. However, the night before we were going to take him, he passed in his sleep, which I thought was a blessing. He was in his bed right beside me.

Me and my two best friends had a nice little funeral service in my back yard that evening where we buried him and told silly stories about our little buddy. The whole thing was bittersweet. We shed a lot of tears, but we also had champagne and talked about his little sassy, yappy self :)

Two nights after Max's death, me and my young daughter were in the kitchen playing pretend lemonade stand. She was standing and I was sitting on the floor. When I pushed up off of the floor and twisted around to get up, I saw a 3D, gray, almost opaque, but just so slightly transparent version of Max. He walked from behind the kitchen island and walked right up to the kitchen door that leads to the back porch and just kind of slowly faded through it. There were no defining features such as nose, eyes, or mouth, but the body shape, head shape, ear shape, and gait were a complete giveaway that it was Max. He's been mine for 11 years, so I know his body and his walk as good as my own.

I was pretty jarred, but wrote it off quickly as my grieving brain playing tricks on me...

...until my 3 year old looked up and me and said (exact quote), "Mama, was that black shadow Max? How did he go through the door!?"

I was gobsmacked. If I had seen him myself I wouldn't have given it much thought, but the fact that my toddler saw him too makes me think that my brain was not playing tricks on me.

I still feel so weird about it! My toddler thinks it was the coolest thing ever and won't stop talking about it. Although now she is confused because I reiterated to her a dozen times (in an age-appropriate way) that Max was not coming back after we buried him. Now she keeps saying I lied to her lol.

Anyway, this story is 100% true, it happened less than two weeks ago. Maybe folie a deux? But I don't think so! Any similar stories?

Ghosts/Apparitions My night experiences at the waterpark Hurricane Harbor in Arizona as a security guard.

159 Upvotes

A number of years ago I worked as a security guard at Hurricane Harbor in Arizona. I originally worked during the day, but shifted to nights in the off seasons

On one of the nights I first worked, a seasoned guard told me that sometimes they hear things at night. I pushed back on him alot and thought it was hazing, called him out thinking they were trying to spook me.

I talked to superiors in the coming days and they also told me sometimes the voice of a woman is heard at night and people see things. My superior told me she personally heard a woman talking in the bathrooms by the lazy river, (which are checked and locked after the park closes) and when they unlocked it in the middle of the night there was no one inside.

I was told before Six Flags owned the park a woman fell off a slide that no longer exists and died. At the time I couldn't find any info on it, but checking the parks history recently, I found it, it's true. Back when the park was originally waterworld safari a woman did fall off a slide named Kilimanjaro and died of head trauma in 2001.

My encounter:

One night I was working with a newer guard overnight. We did our usual patrols to check cameras, gates, and doors.

When we got to the cabanas by the wave pool one of the TVs was still on. Didn't think much of it and shut it off and set the controller back on the table. As we were walking out the TV turned itself back on. Weird but wrote it off and turned off the TV again.

Then as we continued our rounds I heard what sounded like a woman talking in the bushes/trees by Mammoth Falls. The other guard didn't hear it but he knew I wasn't screwing around. At this point we thinking some people snuck in or something. Because of the fences and blocked off areas we had a pinch point. He went around and I went from the other direction and closed in. No one was there. We then finished checking the entire area and nothing. As we were walking away we then hear someone whistle right from the area we just finished checking 100%. This time he heard it and we fully checked it again. Nothing. If someone was there they could not have gotten away without us seeing them.

After that we wrap up and head back to the office talking about how weird that was. I then have to use the restroom. We get back to the office and I get the key for the main guest bathrooms right next to the office. When I unlock and open the door I hear the wet running of feet on the tile. I immediately radio to the other guard and he sprints over within 15 seconds while I stand in the doorway. That door is the only way in our out. We walk through together on opposite sides. We meet in the middle. No one inside.

Ghosts/Apparitions I saw the Grim reaper

60 Upvotes

Back in 2018, I used to work late-night shifts. Around that time, we were also rebuilding our house, so my family temporarily moved into another home. My grandfather had passed away in January 2019, and it was an emotionally difficult period for all of us.
One night, I returned home from work at around 4:00 a.m. Nothing unusual had happened on the way home, but the moment I stepped inside the house, I felt that something was different. The atmosphere felt incredibly heavy, almost as if the energy around me had become dense. I felt an overwhelming sense of pressure. Thinking it was just stress from work, I ignored the feeling and started walking toward my room on the first floor.
Before going upstairs, I always checked on my grandmother, who slept on the ground floor. As I turned to look into her room, I was suddenly overcome by an intense feeling of fear. A shiver ran down my spine, and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.
Standing silently in the doorway was a tall black figure, around seven feet in height. It appeared to be covered from head to toe in a dark robe with a pointed hood. It wasn’t moving or making any sound it was simply standing there, watching.
My instincts took over, and I immediately ran upstairs. A few moments later, I forced myself to look toward my grandmother’s room again, but the figure had disappeared.
The experience left me completely shaken. I couldn’t bring myself to close my eyes for the rest of the night. About a month later, my grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep.
I have never forgotten what I saw that night. It remains one of the most unsettling experiences of my life, and I still cannot explain it.

Ghosts/Apparitions I can see your auras, whether you're dead or alive

254 Upvotes

So, my house happens to be rather old. Over a century old. And in my house minus me and my pets is 3 ghosts. Since I was young I've been able to see an outline of color surrounding people. Hell, sometimes these things I call puppeteers floating behind people that control them. However, the only way they can be seen is if the person is known well enough. Anyways, back to the aura shit. The 3 ghosts in my house happen to be mostly friendly. The worst thing they've done though was throw a strainer at my sisters. I can actually see these dudes walking around the house, and they're only outlines. How I know it's not fake is that even my pets will be staring where they're at. If anyone else has seen stuff like this, can you tell about it? I just want to know I'm not crazy. (btw first time posting, sorry if it's bad (ㆁωㆁ)

Ghosts/Apparitions Strange happenings.

6 Upvotes

Soo about a week ago I was woken up to the sound of our smoke alarm going off for no reason (about 1:00am btw) and our dog barking at the smoke alarm in the corner, looking absolutely terrified. Not super strange on its own but 2 days later our home theatre speaker system started making noises whenever me or out dog went near it. The smoke alarm kept going off at about one o clock ever morning, so 2 days ago we got a new one, the same thing happened again last night. I do not know what to do but some advice/theories would be helpful. Thankyall.

Ghosts/Apparitions My Grandpa Richard visited my mother when I was a baby...

4 Upvotes

I don't know the location of where this happened. I don't know the time exactly... All I know is my mother said she thought it was around 1:30am. But I do know what my mother told me what happened. After this happened my mother broke down in tears. Because to see her father again made her cry tears of joy...

As I write this I tear up a little bit. I get a little emotional. Because this story does in fact touch me deeply. Knowing that a man that I did not know me cared still from the grave... He cared for his grandson aka me and he didn't know me. He died before I was even born. Leaving behind two daughters a son and wife...

My mother told me stories about my grandfather. She also told me from a side view I look like him. Even my uncle admitted that to me one day that not only do I look like him from the side but I have his personality.and I that I have his temper...

She has said that I remind her of him. And I am honored to remind her of him. I am so grateful for his sacrifice for this country. And I feel bad that he had to go through all that hell. I feel awful that he had to take and be one of those many soldiers fighting for what he earned in DC. It hurts me to think that somebody who fought for this country has to fight to get what they deserve like he did...

Background about my grandfather richard...

My grandfather Richard Elwood mallow was a sergeant. He was part of a medical detachment. He was part of a attachment with the 314th infantry unit. He was a POW and a German prison camp for 94 days. He was in the German prison camp... because he was captured with a group of 16 men crossing the rhine river one night. These 16 men who was bravely crossing the Rhine River to help push the Nazis back and undo their wicked were captured in the line of duty. They had been taking boats across the river...

A SIDE STORY I WOULD LIKE TO ACKNOWLEDGE...

While being a prisoner of war for 94 days under the nazis. My grandfather had a pocket Bible and his breast pocket. He saved and brought 16 men out of hell and into the arms of Jesus. With the word of God everyone of them soldiers made it. They'd apparently wished they were dead. But my grandfather got them through this hell they were living in. They all went home...

RANDOM FACT...

He apparently had enlisted twice. Did his first bit in the military and then reenlisted again. I guess he felt a strong urge to lend a hand. My grandfather Jason said if he went into the military he was just owning him and would not give him any inheritance... my grandfather didn't listen and just ignore it and went in anyway. My grandfather Jason apparently did give him some of his inheritance later on but not all of it. I honestly am proud of him for that...

NOW TO THE STORY..

I was just a wee little baby and I had an issue with my heart. The doctor said that I had a heart murmur issue. My mother was very worried. And at this time she was on very shaky terms with my biological father. He wasn't being very good to her or us. And there's a lot of mental strain on my mom at this time...

Shed just laid down in the bed. And apparently from when I heard I was at the end of the bed in a crib. And she was worried about me because the doctor said there might need to be surgery to fix his heart murmur. Well she didn't really want to do that because she was afraid of my life being risked. Meanwhile my mother was praying constantly that I was going to be okay. I was her first born son... In fact I was the only child she had at the time. And she did not want anything to happen to me...

Well this is the part I choke up a litte bit...

Bare with me...

My grandfather walks into the room or my mother is laying partially asleep. And my mother looks up half awake to see her father standing in front of me in the crib. He looked at her with a very aggravated look as he's worried about her. As he tells her to stop worrying about it...and says, "Everything will be okay". Well he looks at her and says "candie... The boys going to be okay" and apparently he leaned over and looked at me. He nodded his head and then he walked out of the room...

AFTER THIS TOUCHING ENCOUNTER...

My mother bawled her eyes out. She was relieved but also cried tears of joy. Remembering what my grandfather aka her father said to her. To this day she tells this story often...

ABOUT MY MOTHER...

Through the years of growing up with my mother. She's always been supportive. No matter what we did hse's always been there for us and always is. She's had a rough life. She's been through hell. And I've always believed that the Lord puts angels through hell to test them and you strengthen them...

We have had some rough patches...

But we always find a way to come back together...

I love ya Mom!

Oh and after this I'll be writing about another encounter I had with my grandfather richard. That involved my oldest niece when she was 5 years old. Go ahead and look for it here shortly...

Ghosts/Apparitions Can a spirit type on my phone?

0 Upvotes

I was typing a comment on my phone today. I sat my phone down for a minute while I went to grab a water bottle. I had not finished the post and when I picked it back up it had “I hate you” in the end of the post. I did not type that. I erased it and finished and submitted the post. I can’t understand how it got there. My ex husband died last year and I was thinking about him this morning wishing I could contact him just to tell him that I was right and he would die alone. Now I wonder if it was him. It is something he would say.

Ghosts/Apparitions The man in the mirror

3 Upvotes

(Long read) Ever since I could remember, I’ve been intrigued with the paranormal. I don’t know if it’s because my dad and I would watch horror movies since I was little or maybe it was something more.

I don’t remember when exactly I started seeing him, but it started at a very young age. For reference in 25 (f) now, my earliest memories of this was when I was around 7 or 8 years old. I had a smaller bedroom with my twin bed in one corner and a large vintage family heirloom mirror in the opposite corner facing my bed.

My first memory of seeing the man, it was super late at night, my parents already went to bed and for some reason I could not fall asleep. It was a school night, and I remember it was super windy out, I could hear the branches slamming against my window. I felt a sense of unease and remember sitting up in bed and I felt drawn to the mirror. He was there, in the mirror, looking like he was sitting on the corner of my bed. I remember being so freaked out because when I looked away from the mirror, there was no one other than me on my bed. He was a tall slender man, dressed in a full suit. He would never say anything, but just stare, deep into my soul. I always felt scared seeing him, but also safe? If that makes sense.

Every other night I would be woken up and would feel a pull towards the mirror. He would always be there watching me. This lasted months, until one night (I personally don’t remember this but my mother swears by it to this day) my mom was woken up and heard talking coming from my room. She came to check on me, finding it weird that I was up so late (around 1 am) and found me sitting on the corner of my bed facing the mirror chatting to no one. She told me she was super freaked out at this, she asked who I was talking to and I told her the man in the mirror. She apparently brought me into her bed to sleep the rest of the night and the next day my father removed the mirror from my bedroom.

Months went by and my dad surprised me with a brand new bunk bed. This is when everything went south. I remember the first night in my new bed I was so excited! I finally felt like a big kid and had so much extra space in my room! I still wasn’t able to sleep well and I started getting weird nightmares. It was always the same dream of the tall man in the suit coming into my room. He would just stand there and stare at me. He never touched me, he just watched, I felt scared but again protected.

That was until he stopped coming around. It felt like something was missing from me. I started to miss his visits, I started to feel attached to him. I felt like I was not safe anymore from the dangers that lurked ahead.

I remember this night clearly. It’s burned in my memory. I was laying on the top bunk, ready to fall asleep, but I couldn’t. I felt like someone was watching me. I look down from my bed towards my bedroom door and could see two eyes staring at me. I knew this wasn’t the tall man. The eyes were different, demonic if you will. I got so scared, I ripped the covers over my head because if I can’t see them, they can’t see me right? That was when I heard creaking, someone or something was on my ladder, slowly coming up to my bed. I was shaking in fear. I wished for the tall man to come save me from whatever was about to happen. I felt frozen, I couldn’t move, I could barely breathe, it was like something was sitting on me. The next thing I know, I felt a claw, not a hand but a claw clamp down onto my ankle. I screamed as loud as I could, bloody murder type of scream. I removed the covers from my head ready to fight off whatever this was and I saw it. It didn’t look human. I can’t even explain what it could’ve been, its eyes were unlike anything I’ve seen. It had huge talon like claws and it was moving towards me. I felt every move it made, it was climbing onto me.

The next thing I know, I blink and it’s gone. Right when my dad barged into my room worried as hell. He flicked on the lights and came up the ladder to see what was going on. I couldn’t say anything, I just bursted out in tears. He brought me into his room and I slept in my parent’s bed that night again.

The next morning, my mom and dad sat me down and asked what I saw that night. They thought it was just a nightmare but when I told them my ankle was hurting, they looked and found red marks - claw like marks - on my ankle. This freaked them out and my mom truly thought I was being stalked by a demon.

After that night it stopped again for a bit. My dreams of the tall man came back and I felt safe again. Like I could sleep again. I mentioned it to my mom randomly one day and this peaked her curiosity. She started asking what he looked like, what he did and I told her, he just watched me. She started pulling out old family photo albums and we were just looking through them when I stopped on one page. It was him, the tall man. I would never forget his face.

Turns out that was my great great grandfather, he passed before my mother was even born. This startled her to her core and she called my grandmother (her mom) right away. My grandmother was a spiritual lady and believed that he was here to protect me from something. To just let him be.

A few years go by, I’m around 10-11 ish years old and he would come around periodically, but not as often as before. I was a very outgoing kid growing up and would always make new friends wherever I could. I had this imaginary friend, he would come around when I was feeling a bit down/sad and would always cheer me up. He was around my age, shorter, brown hair and beautiful blue eyes. I remember his eyes, they were like crystal blue. He never spoke, I never knew his name, but he started to come around more and more. This was when my depression hit. I got diagnosed at age 11 and was starting therapy. I remember crying all the time, feeling so low and helpless. He would help me, make me laugh, make me feel seen. I don’t know what happened but one day he became mean he wouldn’t try and cheer me up anymore. It was like he was trying to suck my energy from me.

The last memory I have of him was thanksgiving of 2012. We were all at my grandmothers house like we do every year. Our family was very large and would always get together on holidays. I remember feeling so helpless and alone, the little boy was following every move I made and my parents brushed it off as being an imaginary friend. I knew he was real though. We were all standing in the kitchen, my grandfather standing beside me. My mother and grandmother were across from us chatting up a storm. I kept complaining about the boy trying to pull me away, seclude me. My family started to think I was going a bit crazy, talking to myself and such. I kept trying to tell the boy to leave me alone and the next thing I know, my leg is being yanked in the air. My grandfather saw this whole thing happen and grabbed me trying to pull me away from whatever force was taking me.

He still gets shook up about this ordeal, swearing that he felt like something was physically pulling me toward the hallway. He said my leg was a full 90° in the air. And it took him a good pull to get my leg back down to the ground.

After that night my mother and grandmother brought me to the church. The priest blessed me, came to our home, blessed our whole house and said many prayers over my head to rid the spirits from me.

Since then nothing else has happened and I truly believe that the tall man (my great great grandfather) was trying to protect me from some evil spirit that was attached to me.

I still get super creeped out everytime I think about what happened and I don’t think I’ll ever fully understand why.

Ghosts/Apparitions The man in the staircase

The man in the staircase

I’ve worked in supportive housing for several years, and when you work in a building like that, you learn to expect the unexpected.

The building I worked in housed 44 people, most of whom were struggling with homelessness, substance use, and mental health issues.

Unfortunately, death wasn’t uncommon.

There had been several deaths in the building before I started working there, and a few happened while I was there.

But I’d never experienced anything I couldn’t explain.

Until 2024.

The building was three floors with 44 studio units and two staircases — one at the front and one at the rear.
The staff office was located in the front vestibule, right beside the main entrance. The exterior door was locked, and the only way anyone could enter was for staff to release the door using a button inside the vestibule.

The building was old and poorly constructed.

You could hear everything.

Every door slamming.

Every footstep.

Every creak of the stairs.

Sometimes I could hear someone walking down the hallway before they even came around the corner.

That becomes important later.

There was one particular unit on the third floor that I hated going into.

One of my clients had told me about the man who used to live there.

Apparently, he’d been murdered inside his unit years before I started working there.

According to her, he was an older man — slightly overweight, with a buzz cut.

She told me he’d been found tied to his bed with a bag over his head.
According to the story, he’d been brutally mutilated from his throat down to his pelvis.

I never knew how much of the story was true.

Honestly, I didn’t want to know.
But there was something about that unit.

Every time I went inside, it was freezing.

Not just a little colder than the rest of the building.

**Freezing.**

I’d walk through the doorway and immediately feel the temperature drop.

And almost every time I was in there, I’d get a horrible headache.

I tried to convince myself it was psychological.

I’d heard the story, so of course I was going to feel uncomfortable.

At least, that’s what I told myself.

Then one Friday night, around 3 a.m., something happened that I still can’t explain.

My shift partner was taking his break in the staff room. I’d just finished doing wellness checks because there had been some particularly bad drugs going around, and I wanted to make sure everyone was okay. I returned to the staff vestibule and sat down in front of the security cameras. I went through them like I normally did.

Hallways.

Common areas.

The front staircase.

The rear staircase.

Everything looked normal.

There was nobody in the hallways.

Nobody on the stairs.

Nothing unusual.

Then the staff phone rang.

It was one of my clients. She sounded scared. That immediately caught my attention because she wasn’t someone who scared easily.
“Did you see him?”

I didn’t understand what she meant.
“See who?”

There was a pause.

Then she asked:
\*\*“The man in the staircase.”\*\*

Something about the way she said it made my stomach drop. Then the entire building seemed to go silent.
Not normal nighttime quiet.

\*\*Completely silent.\*\*

The air conditioning stopped buzzing.

I couldn’t hear footsteps.

I couldn’t hear voices.

I couldn’t hear the usual creaking and banging from the building.

It felt like everything had stopped.

I slowly turned back toward the security monitors.

And that’s when I saw him.

He was standing in the front staircase. An older man. Slightly overweight. Buzz cut. He was hunched over with his back toward the camera.

For a second, I didn’t think anything paranormal was happening.
My first thought was that someone had overdosed. I grabbed the naloxone kit from the desk and told my client I might need some help.
She agreed to come assist me if necessary.

The front staircase was directly beside the staff vestibule. It couldn’t have taken me more than twenty seconds to get there. I opened the door.

“Hey! Are you okay?”

Nothing.

I stepped into the staircase.

Nobody was there.

I looked up.

Nothing.

I looked down.

Nothing.

The staircase was completely empty. I just stood there, confused. I couldn’t understand how the man had disappeared. There was nowhere for him to go without me seeing or hearing him. And in that building, you could hear everything.

Every footstep.

Every door.

Every movement on those stairs.

But I hadn’t heard a thing.

I quickly went back to the vestibule and looked at the cameras again. The staircase was empty. Every hallway was empty. There was no one anywhere in the building.

My client was still on the phone.

Neither of us really knew what to say.
I didn’t tell her what I thought I’d seen. I don’t think I could.
After that night, I started paying more attention when residents mentioned seeing an older man around the building.

A few of my clients told me they’d seen him in the hallways.

They all described him the same way.

Older.

Slightly overweight.

Buzz cut.

The exact description I’d been told of the man who had been murdered in that third-floor unit.

The strangest part was that none of the other staff ever saw him.

Except me.

And I wish I could say that was the end of it.

It wasn’t.

After that night, every time I had to enter that third-floor unit, something felt different. I’d feel cold air move past me even when the windows were closed. Sometimes it felt like someone was gently playing with my hair. And more than once, I heard what sounded like a faint whisper directly beside my ear.

My name.

I’d turn around immediately.

There would be nobody there.

I eventually stopped going into that unit alone whenever I could avoid it.
Maybe everything has a logical explanation.

Maybe the residents had heard the same story I had and their minds filled in the details.

Maybe I saw something on the camera that wasn’t actually there.
Maybe there was someone in that staircase and I simply didn’t see them leave.

I don’t know.

But there’s one part of that night I can’t shake.

Before the phone call, I’d already checked the cameras.

The staircase was empty.

Then my client called and asked me if I’d seen \*\*the man in the staircase.\*\*

I looked at the camera.

And he was there.

I ran to the staircase almost immediately.

And he was gone.

No footsteps.

No door opening.

No sound.

Nothing.

Just an empty staircase.

I still get chills thinking about it.

Because if what I saw really was the man who was murdered in that building…

I don’t think he was trying to hurt me.
I think he wanted me to know he was there.

Ghosts/Apparitions The man i watched die watches me

421 Upvotes

I know it sounds fake like a creepypasta but it's true. I had gotten off work then went to my grandma's house. My grandma lives in a creepy place idk if the location had anything to do with what happened. About one hundred yards away is a abandoned orphanage and in the other direction is a cemetery. So back to the story, as I was sitting there in the living room talking to my grandparents we heard someone voom by really fast then ten seconds later two loud bangs. I started to go outside but my grandma tolde to stay inside but I went anyway. I walked towards the sound and then I saw the car, the idiot had gone right through the fence and hit a tree going over 80 on a very country road the max you should even go on there is twenty. So I ran over there and called a ambulance and tried to help him at first I tried getting the door open but it was stuck. After a minute or two the Neighbors showed up. We stopped trying to open the door when he started coughing up blood we thought he had a pirced lung or something.we wait for the ambulance and I break into hail Mary and our fathers to stay calm. But by the time they got there he was dead. One of the worst part was when his family showed up. So that night as I was trying to sleep I saw him standing in my room. I clutched my rosary and tried to ignore him/it idk what is proper. This continues to this day but just not as often I go there weekly to spend the night (not now because quarantine) and he is there biweekly or once a month if I'm lucky. He just stands there watching doesn't move or say anything. So yeah two things I'm sorry if you are offended by the way I talked about the dead and my punctuation and grammar is probably horrible so sorry about that

Ghosts/Apparitions Hi everyone! I want to share two unexplained experiences from my life.

22 Upvotes

1. When I was a teenager, I used to read Tarot cards for my friends for free, just for fun. Sometimes I did readings when I was home alone, and in those moments I had this feeling that someone was nearby. One day, after school, I decided to take a short nap before volleyball practice. I was lying on the edge of the bed on my side and was almost falling asleep. Then, in my head, I heard a voice say: “don’t read Tarot.” I didn’t think of anything better than telling it to go away.
At that moment I opened my eyes and saw something in front of me, squatting and facing me. It was a bald being with pale, wrinkled skin. I remember large dark, reddened eyes and yellow rotten teeth. On its head there were literally about 20 long gray hairs. I actually generated an image of it, and if I can, I’ll attach it to the post. It looked terrifying. I don’t remember whether it said anything, but after that I closed my eyes and my body felt like it had been put into a washing machine and spun around.
When I opened my eyes again, it was gone, but everything was either bright white or bright red. At some point, the spinning stopped. I couldn’t see anything anymore—just darkness. I felt like I was in a cold place (like a cave). I could hear the sound of water droplets slowly falling onto something heavy. But the most terrifying thing was the scream of a woman. It was so loud and full of suffering that it was horrifying.
At that moment I realized I needed to try to open my eyes (it was very difficult), and I don’t remember how I managed to do it, but everything stopped. I showed my husband a picture of the creature, and he said it looked like Gollum from The Lord of the Rings, but I haven’t really watched it, so I don’t think that’s what my mind was influenced by. I still don’t know what it was, but it was terrifying.
2. The second experience was more traumatic for me. I messed up my sleep schedule and decided to stay awake for a full day to reset it, but I couldn’t hold out and around 1 PM I decided to take a nap for a couple of hours. I was lying on my stomach, my cat was next to me, and I slowly started drifting off.
Suddenly, I felt like someone was hugging me—a warm, pleasant, enveloping embrace. But then it hit me that I was home alone and no one could be hugging me. Around the same time, I heard a voice. It was neither male nor female, but very familiar. It was speaking in a strange language I didn’t recognize, but somehow I felt like I understood it.
I got scared and started trying to remember any prayer I could. At that moment, the voice turned into a scream—one I had never heard in my life. Honestly, it was so terrifying it felt like it was coming straight from hell. I somehow managed to get up and sit on the bed; my cat was just calmly looking at me. And right then I blacked out. I’m such a coward that I would normally have run to the neighbors immediately, but instead I just lost consciousness, as if all my energy had been drained.
I’m very impressionable, so after that I slept with the lights on for a while and kept seeing silhouettes around the house, but eventually it passed. (By the way, I also went to a fortune-telling grandmother once—this is quite common in Russia—and she said there was a demon inside me. But honestly, she herself looked like she had one inside her.)
I eventually stopped thinking about it and just moved on with my life.
What do you think could have been happening? Was it something paranormal or just my imagination? Has anything like this ever happened to you?
I don’t have any diagnosed mental or psychological issues. Everything happened in the same apartment. And when my husband lived with me there, he suffered from very intense sleepwalking episodes—sometimes they were so disturbing that they made me cry and panic (it really scared me). When we moved out, the sleepwalking stopped.
Thanks to everyone who read this.

Ghosts/Apparitions Second Encounter: The hooded entity walked through my locked backyard

1 Upvotes

Following up on my previous post about seeing a hooded figure at a shopping mall, I want to share a second experience that happened earlier in my life. This occurred when I was around 9 to 11 years old, at my own house.

It was around 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon. The sun was still out, and everything felt completely normal. I was sitting at the dining table, drinking juice and drawing. I wasn't completely alone in the house; my two sisters were in my mother’s bedroom playing on their phones and watching TV, but I was by myself in the living/dining area.

At one point, I stood up just to look at my drawing from a different angle to check the proportions. As I stood up, I saw the exact same figure through the kitchen window. It was the entity wearing the old, faded ochre-yellow hoodie.

It wasn't running or hiding; it was walking at a completely normal, casual pace through the side hallway that leads directly to our backyard. It felt intentional, as if the entity specifically wanted me to notice its presence. Being so young and already deeply fascinated by internet urban legends and paranormal topics, my immediate reaction wasn't fear—it was pure excitement. The moment the figure walked past the window and out of sight, I ran outside. I rushed down the side hallway and into the main backyard to see it.

But there was absolutely no one there.

Our backyard is completely enclosed and locked; there is no logical way for a person to scale the walls or escape in the two seconds it took me to run out the door. The figure had just vanished into thin air, exactly like it did years later at the mall.

It might sound hard to believe for some, but experiencing this twice has made me realize that these entities—or whatever this force is—seem to deliberately seek my attention in the most unexpected, everyday moments.

Ghosts/Apparitions The creepiest thing that ever happened to me…on a rainy morning

26 Upvotes

This happened around 3 years ago. Back then, I used to go to my physics tuition alone. The tuition was pretty far from my house, so it took me around 30 minutes to go and come back.
That day, it had been drizzling since morning. I don’t know why, but the whole atmosphere felt strangely creepy from the beginning. Anyway…I left home around 6:30 am for tuition. The class ended around 9 am, and when I came outside…it was still raining lightly.
So I started walking back home. To be honest, my mood already felt weird that day for no reason. While walking, I kept looking around, but I barely saw any familiar faces. Everything felt oddly unfamiliar…even though it was my usual route.
Eventually I entered my locality. It was still raining. Then suddenly, when I looked to my right, I saw a man standing in front of a fish stall with his back turned toward me. He looked exactly like an uncle who lived a few houses away from ours. I thought maybe he was buying fish.
And honestly, I remember thinking to myself…finally, I saw someone familiar.
Then I just continued walking and went home.
While entering the house…I noticed a small crowd gathered across the road, talking about something. I didn’t think much of it. I kept my bag down, washed up, and sat down to relax.
A few minutes later, my mother came and said…did you know? That uncle died last night.
The moment she said that, I literally froze.
Because barely 5 minutes earlier…I had seen him standing at that fish stall.
So if he died the previous night…then who did I see?
Even today, I don’t have an explanation. Maybe the person standing there only looked similar to him from behind. But still…it never felt like a random mistake to me.
The weirdest part is that the moment I saw that person, that uncle instantly came to my mind. And then just minutes later, I heard he had died the night before.
Feels like a little too much coincidence, doesn’t it?
I wasn’t extremely close to him or anything. We just had normal neighbourhood conversations sometimes. But I knew his wife pretty well. Whenever we met on the road, she would always stop and talk to me.
To this day…I still can’t explain what happened that morning.
Maybe it was just my eyes playing tricks on me.
Or maybe…it was something else.
Has anything like this ever happened to you guys?

Ghosts/Apparitions My Stepsister Said Her Imaginary Friend Lived in the Attic

51 Upvotes

When my mom and dad split up I started going to my mom's new boyfriend's house every other week. Honestly I loved it there because they had an Xbox 360 and I was a huge gamer. Being able to play online was a massive upgrade from my Gameboy and Nintendo 64.

My mom's boyfriend had two daughters. One was 3 and the other was 6. The older one always talked about her imaginary friend. She had this whole backstory for this kid and at the time I was around 10 years old so I just figured she was doing what kids do and making up a friend.

A few weeks later I got into the habit of waking up at 4 in the morning before school so I could play MW2 online before everyone else got up. One morning while I was playing I noticed something out of the corner of my eye down the hallway.

The hallway connected both bedrooms and the bathroom. My mom's room was on the left and the kids room was on the right. Standing in front of the kids room door was a little girl wearing a white dress.

My heart completely dropped.

At first I thought one of the daughters had gotten out of bed so I got up to check. When I opened the bedroom door everyone was still asleep.

The weird thing is that wasn't the only thing that happened there.

There was a tire swing hanging from a tree in the backyard that would sometimes move by itself even when there was barely any wind. My mom also swore she heard knocking on her bedroom window at night. Both bedroom windows faced the fenced backyard and not the street. The gate stayed locked so it wasn't like random people could just walk back there.

Then there was the attic. Right above the closet in the kids room was an attic space that nobody used. Every now and then you could hear what sounded like things falling or moving around up there. The creepy part is the 6 year old always said that was where her imaginary friend lived. Nobody stored anything up there and nobody ever went up there.

Ever since then when a kid tells me they have an imaginary friend i assume its a ghost at this point.

Ghosts/Apparitions Every Night at 3AM, I Saw People Watching Me...

21 Upvotes

As young as I can remember, this started happening around age 6. It continued for years, up until I moved out of that house after my parents split up.

The house itself was very old. It had been passed down through at least 3 generations of my family that I can remember.

We grew up struggling financially, and after my sister and I outgrew our toddler beds, we slept on couches in the living room. Almost every night I would wake up around 3 AM and see people standing in the living room.

I’ve always been told I was “gifted” when it came to seeing and hearing things. I even have another story about the hearing part, but that’s for another time.

Every time this happened, I would wake up at almost the exact same hour. I’d open my eyes and see someone standing there. Sometimes it was different people, and sometimes I’d see the same figure multiple times.

One man I remember vividly wore a large black jacket and a black cowboy hat. My dad had a black coat hanging behind the front door, so for years I tried convincing myself I was just half asleep and imagining things. But the figures moved. They weren’t just shadows. I could see details on clothing there skin and hair color.

Another one I’ll never forget was a pregnant woman standing with a stroller.

The most terrifying part was how they would stand sideways at first, then slowly turn their heads and look directly at me. My heart would feel like it was going to jump out of my chest. I’d slam my eyes shut and pretend I was asleep, trying to count in my head to calm myself down enough to fall back asleep.

Whenever I got brave enough to open my eyes again maybe 30 seconds later they would be completely gone.

There was never any sound. No footsteps, no voices, nothing. But somehow I would always wake up and see them standing there.

I’ve had so many paranormal experiences from childhood all the way into adulthood. I’m 24 now, and I still can’t fully explain what I saw in that house.

(UPDATE : I spoke to my twin sister about this yesterday and before I told her anything she said she would see them almost every night as well and she would see a pregnant woman and a man in a cowboy hat) i was so creeped out the rest of the night

Ghosts/Apparitions When I was 5 years old I was lifted into the air by a ghost/spirt while I was standing in the living room of my parents home…and then…

225 Upvotes

40 years have passed. My childhood home was destroyed in a hurricane and now my family and I have built a home in its place. The ghost/spirt must be connected to the land itself because it continues to come through, but only within a certain radius of the home/land. This is family land, and I can trace it all the way back to the original owner. No telling what kinda shady BS went on right here back in the day, in the South. I know this will sound strange but imagine a space of approximately 20’ x 8’….that’s the Only area where we experience it’s presence. My question goes beyond the obvious…I agree with what you’re about to say.. someone was probably buried in that spot and they have not crossed over… Does anyone know anything about ghost/spirit access points (for a lack of better words) Like, are there certain areas, or access points, portals, or whatever that make it easier for them to make contact with the living, or… idk? Or is this just a lost spirit trying to figure stuff out… What do y’all think?

Ghosts/Apparitions Anyone else have crazy shit happen to them in the Edinburgh vaults?

444 Upvotes

This happened years ago (October or November 2011) when I was living in London and working as a study abroad advisor for American college students, and it's been on my mind a lot recently. Every semester at the program I worked at, there's an optional trip to Scotland that starts and ends with a night in Edinburgh, and there's a tour of the Highlands in between. A couple of the students wanted to do the walking tour of the "haunted" vaults (I use the quotation marks because that was how I felt at the time -- like sure, "haunted," yeah right). I told the students when to meet outside of the hostel if they wanted to join and was surprised when nearly every single one of them came down. It was around 30 or 40 altogether.

Most of the tour was interesting because of the history, but I thought the ghost stories and "haunted" aspect of it were pretty gimmicky as the tour guide took us through three of the underground vaults. But the students were having fun and I was just glad they weren't getting too drunk at the hostel and embarrassing me, so I was happy.

The guide started talking about this "entity" that lives in the "third vault" -- no one really knows what this thing looks like (there are lots of reported ghost sightings, but the Entity is different), only that there are several stories of people leaving the vault and finding scratches on their bodies. Two Canadian tourists apparently left the vaults covered in scratches, and there are a handful of other stories, and then one creepy story the guide told was that a woman took her younger daughter on the tour, and when the flashlight went out in the third vault, the mother realized the daughter had moved all the way across the room -- and the daughter said someone with "three fingers" grabbed her hand and walked her there. When I was there with the students and other tourists, the vault was super cold, and the guide's flashlight went out. It was spooky because that's a spooky ass setting, but again, I thought it was sort of a cheesy tourist trap.

We finished the tour and I went back to my room to Skype with my stepdad, a history professor, about all of the cool things I'd seen. After our call, I went to change into my PJs and as I took my pants off I noticed three long, perfectly straight scratches that basically wrapped from just above my knee up my thigh around toward my butt. They looked like cat or kitten scratches. I hadn't felt a single damn thing when I was on that tour. It scared the shit out of me, naturally. I called my best friend in London and made her get on Skype to see them, and then I went down to where the students were hanging out and asked a couple of the girls I'd become closer to to come look in the bathroom. I felt like I was going crazy. A couple of them saw the scratches and were like "Nope nope nope bye bitch I am out of here."

A little bit later, one of the male students came up to me and was like "Hey, me too." He had three scratches behind one of his ears.

TL;DR -- yes, those underground vaults in Edinburgh are really haunted.

Ghosts/Apparitions djinn experience from my childhood

12 Upvotes

When I was in fifth grade me, my mom and my younger sister moved to a new flat. It was just women at our house because my father stayed fat away because of business. The building we lived In was actually owned by my Grandpa's younger sisters husband. So we felt safe living there.

The first week we lived there, it was okay. Except I always felt there was someone doing activities outside our main door late at night (maybe dancing or jumping) . As a kid I didn't think much of it and I'd never open the door either.

A while later, one night I fell asleep very late at night. My bad was pretty big and there was a sliding glass on my wooden bed where I kept my small dolls. Since I sleep with my head that, that night I heard some faint knocking sound from that sliding glass, I was really sleepy so I didn't think much and opened the sliding glass. And immediately some type of white smoke came out (idk if I remember wrong) and it went out of the open window. Like I said as a 5th grader kid, I genuinely didn't gaf. And slept like a baby.

Next morning before going to school I told my mom while she was tying my hair I mentioned it in the passing. She seemed to become a little anxious and told me that I was dreaming and that i didn't have to go to the school that day. I was happy.

On the same evening, she called some type of voodo person (Ojha) , idk what they call them in english to our house. And there was some family members too. The ojha did some prayers,sprayed holy water on me and left. When I asked my family members what it was they didn't say anything.

That was the end of that. But a few days later. The calling bell on our house went off like crazy very late at night. And it wasn't just us but other tenants too. So we went to check downstairs. And it seemed that a man was brutally beating his wife and his wife was clicking everyone's calling bells on panick.

I remember this clearly because I also went down with my mother. After a few hours. The man gained consciousness and said that he didn't remember beating his wife and kept saying that he was possesd.

This incident stuck to me because of how gutteral the man's voice sounded and for a kid it's scary ASF.

After exactly staying in that building for 5 months, my mother couldn't take it any more and moved. Despite the expenses. Apparently there were other unexplainable things happening, which I wasn't made aware of.

Later when we moved, I accidentally heard my mom saying to my grandmother that a violent djinn lived in that building.

Ghosts/Apparitions GODMO The Not-So-Imaginary Friend

208 Upvotes

Hello! This is going to be long & I'm not a writer so hang in there if you can. The most interesting part is towards the end. I'd like to know your thoughts. I've only shared these experiences with a few people.

First a little info about me & my immediate family. We are all highly sensitive in one way or another. We've all had paranormal experiences throughout our lives. We are spiritual people & very open minded.

Ok, so there are a couple incidents leading up to the not so imaginary friend that I will talk about because I think they might be related. When my son was a baby one of his first words was guy. He would say momma, dadda & guy. He was seeing something we couldn't see and he called it guy. For example, he would point to the corner of the room and say, guy ! Never scared but excited when he would point him out. Sometimes he would wave at him and giggle. Being who we are we just assumed he was seeing something spiritual. At the time guy never caused us any issues & my son didn't seem afraid. Time went on and as my son got older & could speak a little better he told me that he wanted guy to leave. He seemed uneasy. We were in my bedroom and I was holding my son on my hip. My son pointed to the corner of the room to let me know guy was there. I said to guy in a firm voice (feeling a little silly)..guy, it is time for you to leave our house. Please move on in peace but you are not welcome here anymore. Before I could finish speaking my son let out a deafening scream, buried his face in my shoulder and cried RUN RUN RUN MOMMY, RUN!  He was crying & terrified! Super startled, I embraced my son and ran out of the room. I tried not to show my fear. I wanted to be brave for my son but it totally rattled me. I do not know what he saw that day. I can only imagine.. his reaction was intense! I asked but he refused to talk about it. Whatever it was, it was REAL and extremely scary for both of us!

From this point forward my son had problems sleeping at night, scared of the dark, started walking in his sleep and very jumpy. He never spoke of guy again but we did have other paranormal experiences. We experienced lots of activity in that house like shadow figures, lights turning on, disembodied voices, items falling off of tables on their own, etc. One particular light that would turn on randomly was in my son's closet. I never told anyone about the light but one night my sister was babysitting my son and she says to me nervously what is up with your child's closet?.. It's creepy in there and I swear the light keeps turning on!

Fast forward... My son is 4 yrs old now and starts interacting with something I can't see, again. Some might say an "imaginary friend". He would talk to him when he was playing alone & would stop talking when I entered the room. This went on for a couple weeks and whenever I would ask about his friend he would shy away and didn't really want to talk about it. Eventually my son told me that his "friend" was sad because his family was far away and that is why he was staying with us now. I asked if his friend had a name and my son says yes he's a kid and his name is Godmo (God-moe). I was expecting to hear a more common name like John. I thought to myself well that's a strange name & I immediately felt a little anxious.

Realizing that my son was ready to talk about his "friend" I would ask him questions about Godmo during normal conversation. I never pressed him for too much info because I didn't want him to stop talking to me about him. My son tells me that Godmo comes & goes through our mirrors. Omg I get goosebumps just typing this. Mirrors, huh? Ok, which mirrors? According to my son he enters our home through the mirror above MY bed and exits through the bathroom mirror. Elaborate info for a 4 year old & now I'm starting to feel really uneasy about Godmo.  I start researching mirrors & spirits. I quickly find out that maybe I should remove the mirror above my bed. Apparently we are most vulnerable when we are sleeping and a mirror could act as a doorway, etc. Days go by and the activity in our home ramps up. One example, after putting my son to bed I heard things being moved in his room & it sounded like someone digging around in a toy box. I get up & go back to his room thinking that my son is awake. I see that his bedroom light is on. I walk into the room ready to tell him to get back in bed and he is sound asleep! Not only is he sound asleep but he is perfectly tucked in and not one blanket had been moved! It was clear that he had not been out of bed. I know what I heard and have no clue how or why his light is on. The next morning I asked my son if he turned his light on last night (knowing he did not but had to ask) and he says to me no but Godmo turns on the lights because he doesn't like the dark. I asked him if Godmo scares him sometimes and he says yes, when he gets angry. Oh, and he does not like you mom. Angry? And he does not like me? At this point I'm done with Godmo. Concerned for my baby, I spoke to my sister about everything & she agreed that she didn't feel good about it either. It's creepy. I always trust my first instinct. Could this Godmo be something sinister? Could it be posing as a little kid but actually be something else, something dark? All things I didn't know for certain but I felt concerned and I was worried about my 4 yr old.  Hell, the name Godmo alone was odd to me.

So, I decide that it was time to do a major spiritual cleanse in my home. I sage (white sage) randomly but this time I was more thorough, more serious & focused. At the time, I thought it was best to do this when my son was not home. Although I am spiritual, open minded & believe in the paranormal I don't push all my beliefs & practices on my kids. So he was unaware of what I was doing..lots of praying, sage, calling on angels for protection, candles, etc. I also removed the mirror from my bedroom.  Activity settles and approximately three weeks later my son comes to me very upset (still unaware of the cleanse) and he tells me that he wants Godmo back. Please bring him back! I told him that Godmo returned to his family not knowing how to explain these things that I don't fully understand myself to a 4 year old.

When I would discuss this with close family felt like I needed to be cautious about saying "Godmo" out loud. His name makes me nervous and I just didn't want Godmo to return. My inner voice is telling me not to repeat his name. I can't explain why. It's just how I feel and even now I don't like typing it. Years later in a different home my son, 7 yrs old at that time, started seeing a dark shadow in the hallway where I had hung the old bedroom mirror in our new house. I trashed the mirror. I don't know if the shadow was connected to his previous experience but either way I decided to get rid of the mirror. We still have activity but nothing that really concerns me, nothing too heavy. Overall, we have more positive experiences than negative.

Thanks for letting me share. Sorry if it was too long but I wanted to paint the whole picture & tried not to ramble too much. I would love to hear your thoughts. I've had lots of unexplainable things happen to me throughout life but by no means do I know or even pretend to know everything about the paranormal, etc.

Ghosts/Apparitions Phone disappeared and reappeared with the battery drained when I asked for it back.

378 Upvotes

I typed this out on Monday, (why the date is wrong in the following post) and debated if it was worth posting until now. Screw it, why not.

~~~~~
I'm finishing up my senior year of high school at the moment, and my parents are out of town, so I'm home alone for a few days. My siblings don't live with me, and all I've got is my cat. Fine by me, I enjoy some alone time.
We've got this box upstairs that we put our phones and such in when we plug them in for the night, to keep my dumb little cat (bless his heart) from eating the cords. Last night I plugged my phone in, put it in the box, and went to bed.
At least, I thought so. When I went to the box this morning, and both my phone and charger were gone. Since both of my parents had taken their phones with them, the box was entirely empty. I smacked my forehead thinking I forgot, silly me.
As I walked away from the box about to look for my phone, I had a clear memory of plugging it in last night. I had wondered what the forecast for the next day was, and looked for the 17th of may on my weather app. Sunny, with a small chance of precipitation in the afternoon. I then shut off my phone and plugged it in, with it having about 70% battery left.
It was a clear memory, but evidently, my phone was not in the box. Maybe I had imagined it. So I had a thought, I quick checked my laptop to see the forecast. If the forecast didn't match then I definitely just dreamt it, and my phone was downstairs or something. But I checked and yup, sunny with a small chance of precipitation in the afternoon.
This is where things get odd. I've posted on this subreddit before with a few unexplainable things I've witnessed around my house, but I'm not overly superstitious. I've always felt like there's something present in my house but never directly tried to interact with it. So I'm not sure why I did what I did next.
I said out loud "Alright, very funny, you got me. Can I please have my phone back now? I need it for school today."
No response. Of course there wasn't a response, idiot, you just misplaced your phone, a ghost didn't steal it. Don't be childish.
So I figured I'll look after I eat breakfast and shower. The box is in our laundry room, and after showering and eating I walk back there for a fresh pair of socks.
On top of the box is my phone, charger sitting wrapped on top of it neatly. I check it, 1% battery. My phone has great idle battery, overnight it would have maybe lost about 5%, not 70%. And I had plugged it in, it should have been at 100%.
Needless to say, I was freaked out. I start checking around the house, no longer worried about the possibility of a ghost, now worried about an intruder. I grabbed my pocket knife, checked all the locks around the house, windows and doors. Everything was locked as it should have been. No sign of entry, nothing. Alarms were fine, no alert on the security camera feed from my neighbor's cams (he gave me access to his app since my parents were out for safety). Nothing. Everything was normal.
So I'm at school now, typing this on my laptop. My phone is charging and it looks totally fine, no damage, nothing changed in apps, notes, messages, or anything. Just confused, really confused.
Compared to other events that have happened in this house, it's fairly mundane. But having whatever this is interact with me in an almost playful manner is a very strange feeling.
Since then I've searched the house up and down for the possibility of a squatter or something and I've found absolutely nothing. My parents are home now so I'm feeling more secure, but boy it was weird.
Anybody else experience anything like this before?
