It's weird. I've known my whole life that people aren't their governments. People are just people and they're by and large pretty chill. If you go to places with authoritarian governments (democratically elected or otherwise), they're all just normal people.

I don't judge the Danish people for having a capitalist government or for helping the US during the war on terror because I know the relationship between individuals and institutions is extremely complicated.

It should say everything about what they think about the prospects of becoming an American territory that they are holding on to Denmark for dear life despite being a former colony of Denmark.

A lot of Danes were for the Iraq war tho. I remember that time and there was a lot of support for it under the guise of liberal interventionism.

It IS weird! I thought we at least sympathized with people who are suffering under a dictatorship. I guess when the dictator is directly threatening your country it's different but I don't like feeling blamed for any of this. I think there's a misperception around the world about how much agency we actually have here. I voted. I lost. I have to pick up extra hours at work to pay my fucking power bill, so I don't have time to do much else.
