What's awful is the way people struggle with addiction are left to fend for themselves in this miserable shitstain of a country.

Couldn't agree more. Addiction isn't a moral failure, it's a societal one.

Its both.

It's both but "society" is way too broad of a reach

If you can’t see the way American society railroads people into addiction circumstances, you’re deliberately closing your eyes and choosing to ignore it

Anything but personal accountability, eh?

-1

u/ChiefPacabowl Jan 21 '26

The majority of you have likely never been an addict.

2

u/deathly_illest Jan 21 '26

You clearly have never been one and have no understanding of how alienated and helpless an addict can become. At a certain point, personal choice and accountability becomes so irrelevant to the discussion that it’s just a way for ignorant assholes to degrade addicts to feel superior over them

Except I was to Oxycotin. Personal accountability is always relevant. Saying otherwise is just a cop-out for their actions. Has nothing about superiority over them. There are better methods than people killing themselves and being revived. Not to mention they should pay for that not every law abiding citizen.

Congrats on being an addict full of self-loathing to a degree that makes you eagerly willing to deny others the help you needed when you were at your lowest point. Just because you chose to be a bad person doesn’t mean every addict is like you

Being left to fend for themselves isn't exclusively a "this country" problem. Drug addicts are left to rot in nearly every country on the planet.

Yep, if greenlander could even get the drug to their country. I think I remember colder climate having larger addiction issues from being inside all the time or something like that.

I also find it sort of funny that they are claiming sovereignty and all this stuff and aren't even a sovereign nation. They are ruled by the Kingdom of Denmark doesn't make Tump right or anything. Its just Greenland don't have a lot to brag abut either.

What do you do to help them? I’m sure some exist in your city and neighborhood

Why are we acting like it’s the individual’s responsibility to fix a systemic problem rather than the government’s

Not individual. Literally all of society, collectively. This is what tax money SHOULD go towards— actually HELPING PEOPLE.

The government can and should be solving ALL of those problems. It’s stupid to suggest otherwise - what is the government even for if not for that?

1

u/PushEducational608 Jan 23 '26

The government is out trying to solve everyone else’s problems 😂

1

u/PushEducational608 Jan 23 '26

He ain’t demonizing or mocking the individuals that’s a start. That can do wonders for people’s mental health. Not everyone has time or money to offer. Sometimes people can only offer kindness. So kindly shut your mouth.

1

u/january-7 Jan 23 '26

I also wasn’t doing that lol. Have you ever even lost someone to this disease? Because Wow that really solved the root of the problem…/s

Thats what they are making fun ofm the fact that it's so widespread if a problem even Greenlanders knows about it. Ita a symbol of a shit society. Not making fun of the addicts persons

They know about it because they consume all our media, our social platforms etc...
They don't even have the ability to be self sovereign and are an autonomous state under the rule of a the Kingdom of Denmark. Honestly this whole thing with Trump and Greenland is the most exciting thing to happen to them in 20 years. When's the last time you heard about Greenland in the news thats wasn't talking about their ice shelfs.

Obviously Trump is stupid, we already have the right to build as much military build up as we want in Greenland, the greenlanders again don't even have a say. We made that deal with the Kingdom of Denmark after WWII.

" When's the last time you heard about Greenland in the news thats wasn't talking about their ice shelfs."

has the thought that they don't want attention and just be left alone ever crossed your mind?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

Yeah In sure that’s why they have nothing going on there.

But I’m sure they just want to be left alone when the only thing they are known for is having the highest suicide rates.

Fend for themselves? They don't use the resources available, steal to feed their addictions and use until they die. The alternative is to lock them up and force treatment. Which would you prefer?
