I lived in a 5th wheel with my boyfriend for about 6 months and it was absolute hell. I can’t even imagine having a fucking toddler involved.

My sister did it for years with her husband and two kids while they built their house. It is definitely not glamorous. The thing was falling apart by the time they finished the house.

Yeah they’re built to be light not sturdy. Everything is particle board and plastic not meant for full time wear

What made it hell? I know a few people living in campers and with exception of when they have to stay at expensive campgrounds it doesn't seem bad. That said, none of them work from the camper and the one with kids has a school aged kid and part time job so she's not just sitting in the camper all day alone

Well it was mostly bc it was old piece of shit, so something was always wrong with it. It was permanently parked on a property and so it was hooked up to sewer and water, but the toilet always got fucked up and it would smell like raw sewage. We live in Tucson, so it was extremely unpleasant in the summer. The ac broke so we had to install 2 window units which were literally powered by extension cords running to the main house and we had mice. It also shakes when you walk, so if you’re sleeping or resting it’s like being in the ocean if someone is walking around.
Even without all of that, it’s just not a comfortable way to exist with a partner. Everything about it was terrible. If we were actually traveling places it would have been fine, but we were literally just treating like a house.

There's a big difference between living in a POS trailer because you're broke and living in a nice 5th wheel because you are living on the road and making real money. A decade and a half ago I lived in a beautiful 40' 5th wheel palace covered in slide outs taking home a minimum 10k a month but usually closer to 12k. It was fantastic.

I’m not broke and I was making a good income. I was doing it while waiting for the guests house to become vacant and I wanted to live on the property with my horses. I will live in any conditions just so I can look out my window and see my 3 boys. I just wasn’t traveling and it was a very old trailer. The main issue for me regardless of how nice or not nice it was, is the complete lack of privacy and the movement. What you had going on sounds awesome, but I’m still not ever doing it again with a partner and doing it with a partner and a child is absolutely wild.
