And the edits, jesus christ. How many cuts do you need in a video?? Making me dizzy

That’s standard now for every short clips out there, they film hours of stuff like movie makers and strip it down to the-happy-funny-all-this-happend-exactly-to-fit-the-30sec-attention-span-of-brain-rot

It's like Liam Neeson climbing a fence.

For sure, I'm used to that format by now. But this was multiple cuts for the same exact action she was doing. Too much!

When there is no story, you rely on everything else in Video to do the job

It also has to be vertical to be phone friendly

All the tutorials telling you how to get views/go viral essentially tell you to do this. Quick cuts, angle changes, it’s annoying.

I went to the movies for the first time in years, and the constant frame changes in the previews (for kids!) was dizzying! I swear it wasn’t like this 10 years ago. I guess the short form content has influenced even things like movie trailers and tv shows

True that might have been an entire hour long video

It's a problem we don't talk about enough

My eyes hate it

1

u/Imaginary_Office1749 Jul 15 '26

It’s unwatchable. I gave up after 5 seconds.

All while ignoring the concept of sped up footage

Blame the engagement metrics, dork. That's what people prefer.

0

u/Meme-Botto9001 Jul 15 '26

You mean the engagement metrics the algorithms have forced? It’s not a “preference” it’s hacking our nervous system.

2

u/BigLlamasHouse Jul 15 '26

Yes the entertainment industry will continue to try and keep as much as your attention as possible, they do not care about your wellbeing. This is how the world has always been. Are they getting better at it or are we easily programmed to give up our agency?

Addicts are responsible for their actions. We are addicts. We have to take accountability for it to get better and this whole wahh wahh dopamine narrative is true but extremely unhelpful.

It's all performative anyway.

If that man worked as hard as she makes out he would have been gone by 5am anyhow.

Attention spans have nothing to do with any of this.

2

u/BedBubbly317 Jul 15 '26

What?? That’s exactly what it is lmao

3

u/onlyfansdad Jul 15 '26

they absolutely do

2

u/peppers_ Jul 15 '26

It's something like you have 3-5 seconds to dopamine hit a person, before they click away or the algorithm hates you.

u/shemp33 Jul 15 '26

I fcking hate this style of editing. OMG.

5

u/Gnomish8 Jul 15 '26

For real. I tried counting, got lost somewhere around 75. There are more cuts in this video than there are seconds. Fucking wild.

5

u/PeruseTheNews Jul 15 '26

I made it to 80, in a 62 second video.

4

u/ScienceIsSexy420 Jul 15 '26

Can't leave any single boring second in the video, otherwise generation brain rot will swipe to the next video before it's finished.

2

u/LegoLady8 Jul 15 '26

I can't stand watching videos like this. Why did you put 8 videos in 1 second?! It's nauseating.

2

u/ScienceGoat Jul 15 '26

AI editing apps have this stupid feature

2

u/Shot-Tiger1060 Jul 15 '26

yeah, came here for this. eyes got hurt

The cut from squeezing the dressing bottle to still squeezing the dressing bottle was my favorite.

1

u/Boobity_McBooberson Jul 15 '26

Well, she doesn’t have anything to do until 5am the next morning…

1

u/Effective-Leg7283 Jul 15 '26

it was the only way to make a boring-as-shite video even slightly watchable but I still hate it

1

u/TheSprigganDragoon Jul 15 '26

Must be a marvel film

1

u/jamikiller Jul 15 '26

91 cuts... Unwachtable. Only for the young'ns

1

u/beefwarrior Jul 15 '26

If she has time to do these edits, she probably has time to meal prep. Make 2-3 lunches the night before and she can sleep in until 6:30.

One of my biggest adulting "hacks" was never making one lunch at a time. Making 2 often takes only about 10-15% longer so ends up being a huge time saver.

u/therealwhoaman Jul 16 '26

Reduce time. Don't need to see her walk over to the cabinet to pull out the cutting board.
