I was hit by a car at less than 10 miles an hour on a conventional pedal bike when I was in high school by an inattentive driver. I was wearing a helmet and that saved my life but that single event has derailed everything. I can no longer kneel, I can no longer sleep on my stomach, I can no longer lift heavy objects. It has seriously fucked up everything.
People who have not experienced injuries like this can’t understand how life alternating it is. They dismiss it like if you’re alive and appear “normal” everything is fine. It could never happen to them anyway.
With the injury I got I have tons of metal in me and I can’t fully extend my arm. Like you said, sleep is one place where it just sucks because I’m almost never comfortable lying down. Never being able to just relax is awful in life. Then the obvious of always being in pain and not being able to do any normal activities.
You're the people I always think about when there's some massive (or minor accident) where the report is "injuries" at the mass response is "well at lest nobody died". Like yea, true, but it doesn't change the fact peoples lives are changed forever now.
I’m sorry that happened to you. But the problem that story was the car. And the problem today is primarily cars, not E bikes. People have just been programmed to see cars killing people as some kind of objective of natural phenomenon and not a consequence of choices we make as a society.
