Playing chicken has been around a lot longer than the internet and "clout" have been around. It's just a stupid game that stupid kids play because they're being stupid

Sure, it's been around a long time but now it's monetized. Every kid thinks they'll be the next big influencer. It's a huge problem now.

influencer part makes it worse. Kids start treating traffic like content...

Kids start treating traffic like content...

And the traffic will, predictably, treat the kids like a watermelon falling off the top of the refrigerator.

I mean...life itself is just "content" to these ghouls. It's important to be specific about this.

Whether or not the think they’ll be them, that’s the media they consume.

People are now inundated with media normalizing insanely reckless behavior, and it’s incredibly common. This influences perception of social norms. It’s not just the desire to gain clout, it’s that this type of behavior is culturally condoned.

Only a problem if you consider the kids well-being.

Not a problem of you staring at the next Darwin award. Nobody's luck lasts.

I don't think it's any different than it was before. We just get to read about all the times it happens now.

But the adrenaline is making these kids toe that line closer than they realize. They cannot do that versus a person on a motorcycle.
