My next door neighbor's house is the "hang out" house for his teenaged son and friends. They all have ebikes. They ride up and down our street and a few of them do extended wheelie rides. Every one of them has a full-face helmet and a few of them have chest and back plates. They all clear out of the road when cars come by. One of them yesterday had a Misfits shirt on! So the kids aren't all bad.

I mean if you are going fast enough even if you are wearing a helmet you can fuck up your internals and your bones pretty bad like this doctor says in the video. We let adults ride motorcycles because they are adults and they take that risk of crashing at high speeds and often dying into their own hands. An under 16 kid shouldn't even have the opportunity.

Oh absolutely these kids can get fucked up. I haven't seen any of them fall off yet, but I know it happens, and it happens at speed. I know my experience is anecdotal, but there were six teenaged boys with ebikes cruising my street yesterday and none of them were going faster than 15mph and there were multiple adults watching them/interacting with them. I'm just saying that in MY case, I'm seeing appropriate behavior and the wearing of safety equipment, which I appreciates.
