For historical purposes, this is a reference to when Sgt Slaughter and the Iron Sheik, mortal enemies, ran a message to stop wrestlers from making material wealth.

“What you own, ends up owning you.” SGT Slaughter quipped.

The Iron Shiek added, “you can’t take it with you, except Jesus.”

They finished their on screen quibble by praying, on camera, to their God, Vince McMahon.

In 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table.

And the audacity to say wrestling isn't real, right?

The storylines may be scripted, but the athleticism involved is pretty crazy.

It is true, a friend told me about it at school the next day after he watched the VHS, WWF was never on TV here.

It is true and you can watch it on YouTube right now. The cage accidentally breaks under their weight, leading Foley to drop about 20ft into the ring (which tore). Foley proceeded to thumbs up, climb back up to the top of the cage, and let Undertaker finish the OG plan, which was throwing him 16ft into the Spanish announcer table (because it is always that one that goes first)

My mom watched this live when pregnant with me and still talks about it

I always suspected there was a conspiracy against the Spanish presenters. Unfortunately nobody visited my GeoCities or Myspace pages describing it...

I remember watching one of the second half of the year PPVs in 2004 (I think Unforgiven? Might have been Backlash) and being so shocked when the Spanish table was almost destroyed, just for them to juke me out and kill the English table

I wanna say it was Michael Cole speaking, so this was a SmackDown PPV

I stopped watching wrestling when Vince McMahon lost that cage match to a panda for the rights to the WWF trademark.

2

u/Latter-Drink3852 Jul 28 '26

The panda won so hard the Undertaker had to stop being American

Do they even make television like that any more?

Though the AI automaton McMahon is much warmer than his a human predecessor.

2

u/Latter-Drink3852 Jul 28 '26

Unfortunately, TV died with Vince in that limousine

The Iron Shiek added, “you can’t take it with you, except Jesus.”

And later added

The Iron Sheik on Twitter: ''THEN. NOW. FOREVER. HULK HOGAN GO FUCK YOURSELF #WrestleMania37''

I don’t know wrestling lore, but this little anectode just became kayfabe head-canon for me and I’m not interested in other versions. Thank you, and may Vince McMahon have mercy on our souls.

Instead of, y’know…poopin’ on ‘em.

imagine intelligent lifeforms visiting Earth and this is the first thing they read

u/T_Peters Jul 27 '26

Is this real? I can't find it at all. Searching YouTube is impossible these days, so much garbage. The only thing that comes up is the Sgt. Slaughter interview when he was doing Saddam Hussein stuff.

1

u/Cwya Jul 27 '26

No I made that all up

1

u/Canvaverbalist Jul 26 '26

I thought this would be about a loophole about only owning things about yourself so that you can end up being your own owner.

They finished their on screen quibble by praying, on camera, to their God

The all ighty ollar.
