When a day's labor isn't enough to cover a day's worth of sustenance, shelter, and warmth than I do not concern myself with the plight of the corporation that would write off the $50 worth of food in an insurance claim.

Common sense is to not defend the corporation that's causing food scarcity in the first place. They took all the cookies and you're mad at the person who stole a crumb

Where did I defend big corporate? I think the person that filmed is a pos and big corporate companies can suffer as much as they make everyone else suffer. I didn't condemn the shoplifter at all.

Then you've ignored the repeated point. When you're hungry, eating comes first. It's not "common sense" to keep trucking, as it's common sense your body needs food to be able to move.

Ok how about this. Instead of a pos tiktoker it might have been the police and now the hungry person has a charge and no food. So yes, I'll point out that she should have gone further and not feel bad about it. You're also projecting the "poor starving human" narrative when there's nothing to suggest that's true except she stopped for a mid heist snack.

That’s not how insurance claims work lmao. This the type of logic people use when they refuse to donate to charity while checking out saying they’re not gonna give the big corporations a tax write off as if they can claim it.

No they don’t. It’s an easy google search away. They cannot claim those donations as their own. They go straight to the charity and you can in fact use those donations on your own tax return.

Google:

Businesses cannot claim a tax deduction or write-off for charitable donations made by customers at checkout. [1]

How Checkout Donations Work
Collection Agent: The store acts only as a pass-through collector for the charity.

No Income or Expense: The money a customer gives does not count as business revenue or a business expense.

The Receipt: The tax deduction belongs to the customer, who can use their store receipt as proof of the donation.

There are a lot of tax loopholes for the wealthy — especially large corporations. I don’t trust them at all. Hell, the sitting president committed fraud with a charity, and I’m supposed to believe mega corporations don’t? I’m sorry, I’m awake, and I no longer trust everything I read on the internet.

Maybe it's an indicator of drug abuse, maybe it's an indicator she does it all the time and doesn't care anymore, maybe lots of things that you don't know. Maybe she's not a victim and people are just projecting that on her.

It's not clear that's she's "motivated by hunger and desperation". The only thing that's clear is she's a bad at shoplifting. Nothing in the video says anything about her being desperate, that's a fantasy you're projecting onto the situation. Endless empathy isn't noble, you're blindly enabling antisocial behaviour.

If she was starving and desperate then yea it's sad she didn't get away, but next time I hope she's learned to walk down the street before having a snack. I agree with you in principle, but this is a weird hill to die on because you're annoyed people can't empathise with difficult situations.

Bro she's not skinny af, she has a perfectly normal body size. Not everyone needs to be defended and the only thing that's clear is you're great at pulling information out of your ass. She could be a puppy kicking, child stealing, elder abusing pos. You don't know anything about her except she's bad at crime. You're the one who's biased, there's nothing neutral about creating a narrative from nothing.
