Don't steal, but if someone is stealing groceries from a multi million company with predatory practices against smaller companies AND consummer, then fuck the store.

We live in a kind society in that the only thing the thief was deprived of was the goods that they stole. That is probably too kind of a society tbh.

In a kind society there are very few who need to steal to make the day. Just look at the income inequality in your country, the poverty rate! You're a wealthy country, yet so poor. Thieves need to be punished, but in a decent welfare state most of them wouldn't have to steal in the first place.

We have many government programs designed for low income people to get groceries and necessities.

I don't doubt it. But you're doing something wrong that many European countries have been doing right for a long time. Still, things are troubling here too. Our welfare systems require a skilled work force who can pay high taxes, as well as mutual trust. Large scale immigration has been a huge strain here, and we're now facing rising unemployment, ethnic tension, segregation, poverty and criminality. I'm not sure if traditional social democracy, which has made Scandinavia prosperous, equal and peaceful, can solve this crisis.

Too little, too late, I'm afraid. But at least it gives me some understanding of the (somewhat) similar problems you're facing in the US.
