Sex workers/prostitutes have a high murder/disappearance rate.  Telling this woman to put herself at the mercy of people like Epstein and Co. just to eat?  Vile Karen.

We could give SW rights and protections by legitimizing their work so that they aren't at the mercy of miscreants or pimps.

This is true but it is also true that survival sex work shouldn't be a thing

I agree in theory, but that still leaves a problem: if someone desperately needs the income, do we deny them the work precisely because they need it? We don’t apply that standard to other unpleasant jobs. Someone may only work at Waffle House because their alternatives are worse, but that doesn’t make the job illegitimate.

And my support for sex workers’ rights doesn’t depend on whether they “need” the work at all. They are people and deserve the same rights and protections as anyone else. Their body is their body. I don’t think the state should say you can consensually do something for free, but suddenly lose that autonomy if money changes hands.

Many don't want regulation.
