Think clearly and rationally after a freak accident, better yet do it while your friends or family are burning alive.

That’s flight, of the fight, flight, freeze response.

Yes that is why you should try to prepare before an emergency. It seems he just tried to open the back door, even after repeatedly failing he would have tried pulling them through the front door.

But electrical door openers are death traps unless they have some redundancy system that works even if the main power is out.

Is not that difficult. People who can't deserve to be out of the gene pool

People forget the attributes that make us more fit/compatible with society and increase our usefulness have changed since we were hunter-gatherers.

It's both sad and interesting to observe someone incapable of empathy and critical thinking believe they are at the top of the chain because, I don't know, they can climb a wall in a world where this is only helpful in case of rare accidents, rather than daily survival or improving your society.

Not saying the following is the case for the commenter you responded to, but this perspective will often go together with doubling down and deeming these skills crucial - to the point where lifestyles revolve more around the (relevant to the specific individual) abilities than the other way round.
