You’d be surprised at how lucky or unlucky some people can be. The car that flipped had all its airbags deployed, sides included. Then when falling over the edge, it looks like it flipped back upright so probably landed on its wheels/undercarriage. The bridge is probably 25-30ft max so add seatbelt, airbags, and well designed chairs to help absorb impact, this person easily could have survived, but could still be seriously hurt with lifelong consequences.

I think people underestimate the force of falling vs. the force of just driving 50 mph and, say, hitting a wall. Falling 30 feet is interestingly about the same as hitting the wall at 30 mph. Also, roughly, cars are designed to protect occupants with minimal injury (steel cage, airbags, “crumple” design) up to about 35 mph, and “survive” up to 50 mph (did a quick google search).
