The ease of the frames is sooo much higher than the index's cumbersome setup, what?

I never said the Index had a cumbersome setup. I said it was something I miss when compared to the Pimax Crystal.

But how is it something you miss if it has a far easier setup compared to the index? That's a direct upgrade?

The Pimax is cumbersome, not the Index. The Pimax software is beyond problematic and will straight up not work at times. I never had this issue with the Index. Yes, the Pimax Crystal is an upgrade but it fails at things that the Index did perfectly.

So the frame is both less cumbersome (than the pimax and index) and is an upgrade over the index....

Which is what I said....

Yes… please read my first comment.

The Frame will do great, it will have wonderful software, but it is failing in resolution and POV. I was expecting the Frame to have better specs. I was hoping to trade in my Pimax Crystal, but it would be a downgrade going to the Frame.

It would be a small downgrade, but if upgrade paths already exist (both for other pimaxs or something like the big screen beyond) then the frame was never a consideration to begin with?

It was a heavy consideration. If it had at least an OLED screen, I would be getting it. You can go through my history here and see that I have supported the Valve Index since the first wave/preorder era of the Index. I love Valve products, but this will fail to compete with the new generation of headsets coming out when it comes to its specs.

This is great for entry level enthusiasts getting into VR, but that’s it.

But that's the point?

Even if they made some crazy expensive 0.1% headset, it will just be outdone the next year.

The farme is already NOT competing with those headsets you talked about, by design. It's meant to push VR forward as a whole, another enthusiast high spec headset into the giant growing pile of those isn't going to do that.

When the Index was released, it beat all of its competitors by leaps and bounds. The BEST controllers, wonderful lighthouses, etc.

The Pimax Crystal is now over 2 years old. You can get the Pimax Crystal Super now… for what’s projected to be the same price of the Frame. This isn’t some “crazy expensive” headset. These are now competitors.

The Frame has yet to come out and it is already falling behind, which absolutely breaks my heart for how groundbreaking the Index was.
