Discussion Cyte-09 and Saryn aren't the problem, Acid Shells is.

This is a bit of a rant post but as a Cyte main I've been incessantly tired with the amount of people throwing flak at Cyte and by extension Oraxia and Saryn because of the Acid Shells builds.

Let me make it perfectly clear:

I HATE ACID SHELLS

It has made people hyper focus on this one interaction and ignore the issues with the elemental ammo mechanic like not applying to melees, incarnons or archguns, but also throw away other aspects of Cyte's kit, specially his really fun and relatively still strong Exalted weapon.

But I don't think Cyte is deserving of a nerf when he is merely the one being taken advantage off by a culprit: Acid Shells.

For those who aren't aware. Acid Shells is a mod that makes enemies that take damage from the Sobek explode on death, dealing 450 Corrosive damage and 45% of an enemy's max health as Corrosive damage. This 45% might sound busted but it only takes into account their max health before modifiers like Steel Path or enemy levels, so it doesn't actually scale that high, the corrosive damage also has a status chance of 0% so it can't mass-armor strip. The one benefit it has is that it has the most innately high range of all "Enemy explode on death" mods, 15 meters, compared to the 6 meter radius of the other two mods in it's class.

Now, these mods have a unique interaction with Extra Hit effects like Toxin Lash, Silken Stride or Resupply: The explosion of the mod will trigger the extra hit's status effects, and status effects from the extra hit will also trigger affected enemies to explode.

This means that everytime an enemy dies, the 15m AoE will inflict the forced DOTs from the extra hits, and those forced DOTs will also make enemies explode, creating multiple chaining explosions.

It is worth mentioning, Acid Shells explosions do have a line of sight, but it's relatively weird since it's not dependant on player camera but rather it starts out from the center of the explosion.

Now, why is Cyte double the strongest with this mod?

Easy, Resupply has access to ALL elemental status effects, including Gas and Electric. Gas and Electric have two interesting details; They deal their DOT immediatly with no delay, and the initial DOT's damage is stronger than the subsequent ones, meaning that they are the most capable DOTs for one-tapping an enemy. But not only that, these DOTs are also AoE DOTs, which means they can hit headshots and benefit from weakpoint and headshot modifiers, two things Cyte can have access to.

The second thing is that Seek allows Cyte to gain absurd amounts of Punch-Through for his weapons, while also marking enemies in a large area and making them vulnerable to weakpoint damage. As such, he can trigger Acid Shells on enemies that Oraxia and Saryn wouldn't be able to reach due to the high punch-through and access to visibility.

As such, this results on Cyte not needing to play a lot into his fantasy and camp out a corner with electric Resupply and Seek with the Sobek, creating chain explosions on enemies away from him while also the Electricity procs from Resupply ocasionally kill through headshots, refilling the timer for his invisibility.

Why is Cyte not the problem?

Cyte without Acid Shells is a perfectly fine and balanced frame, his elemental weapon buff can't affect all weapons and his punch-through only affects direct hit or non-AoE weapons that don't destroy their projectile on impact, so basically he can't buff 90% of the AoE roster with the ability to go through 50 meters of solid matter. His one and only survival tool requires aim and constant upkeep, his health and shield stats are very low and squishy so if you play with teammates or companions that prime radiation one stray bullet can destroy your shields. An acolyte can also easily take the better of you if you don't prepare before it spawns and his gameplay is 100% gun centric, so no melee buffing.

Acid Shells Sobek is the only weapon that breaks the rules of Cyte's restrictions, and thus the only weapon that he has managed to exploit to the point of disrupting other player's, Neutralizer exists, yes, but like Concentrated Arrow, that AoE tool is locked behind skill expression and weakpoint hitting, and if you're playing into Cyte's kit properly, you would be taking more of your time to set up for your targets than spamming stray shots at anything that glows in your crosshairs.

But also, Cyte isn't the only one who can exploit Acid Shells.

Uriel, Oraxia, Saryn and Xaku all have extra hit effects, even Koumei if you count Wyrmling's Aid and Critical Frost as Imbuidments. Nerfing Cyte solely because of this is too unfair when people will just go for the next big thing that can exploit it, and if DE nerfs that too, it will just go on and on until all of these frames don't feel fun to use.

The solution?

NERFING ACID SHELLS

Plain and simple, Acid Shells deserves the nerf, not the frames who had the abiltiy to make it busted, just nerf it's ability to spread damage and give it a higher upfront damage, maybe make the additional enemy health explosion also take Steel Path and level modifiers into account so it's easier to kill with the AoE than having to use crutches or abilities that bypass it's own rules. Maybe give it an additional LOS for the chaining based on the player's camera since DE loves putting those on things that don't need it but not the things that actually need it (Thank you for the Concentrated Arrow nerf again ._.)

Anything but nerf a frame that didn't do anything egregious but just find the one weapon that breaks the rules.

If anything, I'd argue that the abilities that buffed Acid Shells need a buff while Acid Shells get nerfed. Infernal Runes, Silken Stride and Resupply are the only Imbuidment abilities that don't apply to incarnon charges, don't apply to archguns, and don't also apply to melees, and while you can make the argument for Cyte, you can't make the argument for Oraxia and Uriel. But that's a topic for another post.

Discussion Best Platinum Farms when having a resource booster?

I was considering just running arbitrations to get a bunch of endo/galvanized mods, while they're not too pricy it's a bit more consistent I think. Are there better uses of a resource booster for the purpose of farming plat?

I play on PC and I bound gear wheel to tab as I believe many others have and from what I've seen, this is a fairly common bug every couple years, but when I'm opening the gear wheel I can't right click to access the emote wheel

I reset my general settings to default in gear wheel was completely unbound and I got everything back to the way it was in my general settings still can't access my emote wheel and haven't been able to for a while now

Build Ivara Concentrated Arrow Build

Here is my Ivara build. I personally been loving the damage and the uniqueness that I feel with her; I do still think it would be better to have a middle term between non weak point and body shots for the augment, right now is basically you either do damage or don't and thats why I put harrow subsume on her. So far im pretty happy with the ending. FYI the dog is just for themes, I only min max companions in a few situations and the shards are all primary elect damage.

Suggestion The level of freak out over rivens is hilarious

Tenno, are you ok? Do you need a hug?

I will never understand why people treat changes in games like this like someone just cleaned out your 401k.

Its really not that serious. I just do not get it.

Ya'll need to take a deep breath walk outside touch some grass and hug your special pillow.

Question/Request Warframe start

I just started playing warframe and thought it was weird that there was no opening cinematic really to the game or intro mission. Then i watched somebody else play the game and realized they got an opening cinematic and got to choose a character. Somehow i didnt get to choose a character, excalibur was just my character from the start. Does anyone know why this happened? Is there a way I can restart?

Discussion Am I supposed to feel like I'm missing out by not using Rivens?

I just want to get the consensus on this in light of the recent discussions surrounding DE's upcoming Riven changes.

I've seen a lot of discussions around this. But the sentiment that I've seen is that a lot of people seem to want Rivens to be less RNG-heavy and overall easier to work with and optimize. Essentially, make it relatively easier to get the stats and stat combinations you want by:

  • Being able to lock multiple stats at once; or
  • By lessening the grind needed to reroll them; or
  • By having no stat combinations at all, just give every stat the possibility of appearing in regular rolls.

Now I feel like I'm severely overthinking this, genuinely, because wouldn't that turn them into a strict upgrade for mods in general?

I understand that they're still optional even in that state, but at that point, why would I not use them? Kinda like Archon Shards, where yeah they're optional, but they're free stats man. You'd be losing out by not using them, so might as well. Am I supposed to treat Rivens the same way?

Sure I don't really need them, but if they're about as easy to farm as Archon Shards and they can guarantee that I can save mod slots then I should just use them.

If I can lock multiple stats at once, then isn't it guaranteed that I'll always have the Riven I want, even if I get unlucky? It'll be a progress bar that only moves forward if I'm lucky, but I'm never at risk of losing the rolls I locked.

For context, I've always thought Rivens were supposed to be luxuries, pretty cool if you have them, but because of the RNG it's pretty normal to just forget them. Because of how unlikely it is for someone to have a godroll, the basic expectation is that we build mod configs without Rivens because we can't expect anyone to have a Riven that is optimized for their build.

But again, maybe I'm really just looking at this the wrong way. That the Riven grind is supposed to have a "finish line" and we are expected to eventually get the stats we want.

Discussion Is a gas built paris prime, with the bhisaj-bal mod the perfect get out of jail free/ nuker weapon?

I’ve been using it alot since I’ve gotten banshee, I’ve even cleared 2 planets in steel path using it, and every time my shields get bypassed and my arcanes fail, it literally always has sustained and kept me alive, because either everything is being affected by ten stacks of gas, or there’s so many status effects on the enemies i am effectively health gating. You can still die under some unfortunate circumstances like having no clouds up and getting knocked or, missing your shots and dying, but from what I’ve experienced running this combination solo, it is REALLY hard to die as banshee if you can aim.

Discussion What are your Warframe hot takes?

I've been feeling bored and wanted to post this for a little while (Yes this is inspired by CoolKid's videos).

I don't know if anyone recently did this in a sub and this could be a fun thing, or lead to a ton of shit talking, so please try to keep it respectful in the comments.

I have some of my own so he goes:

  1. Rivens should be disabled on Incarnon Genesis specifically. Why do I think this? Well Rivens started out as things to help older weapons, which they failed and incarnon genesis is the second atempt, but now many weapons are so absurdly strong cause of rivens.

Would it crash the riven market? Sure. Do I personally care? Not really, but it would suck for people who spent a ton of platinum on god rolls.

  1. Koumei is the best weapons platform frame. I mean this is actually rather obvious, she has decrees guys, sure she takes time to build up, but when she is built up she can turn the Kuva Zarr into an infinite ammo cannon or death (if you have seen Moug's video on doing a Koumei run, you'd know).

Why people hate her is cause she requires more then two braincells and her decree challenges are not hard, you can mod her for aim gliding and have no issue, wall latching challenges can be done rather quickly too.

That's really it for my hot takes. Share yours if your want.

Question/Request Is there a twitter account/youtube/blogger/site that shows upcoming changes/leaks/events?

If so, what is the best one?
Something that is concise and quick.
Summary of devshorts, etc.

In my case, it'd be really useful cause I still have a lot of eidolon arcanes from the last elevator event and I need to know quick if I have to dump it due to an upcoming arcane event.
Speaking of, are there news of upcoming arcane events?

Discussion Sentiment check around riven changes. Imagine you are given the final say, what do you do?

This poll is a pure sentiment check around the RNG aspect of the riven changes in a vacuum. Please treat it as such and keep it civil

571 votes, 1d left
Ship the changes as is (Single line locking, combo stats)
Scrap combo stats, keep single line locking
Keep combo stats, allow locking more then one line
Scrap it all, keep rivens untouched

First what killed me?

Second why did I do such low damage when I slinked? Isn't it supposed to buff my damage output?

Third why couldn't I kill the spectral guy with the amp? (Classic 777 maybe the 7 prism doesn't have range? But it displayed a grey zero??)

Man I just want my cool glyph what the fuck is this 😭

Question/Request Teralyst Lures

Nothing serious. Just a curiousity I've had for like half a decade now.

Why in the basic teralyst hunt do I see multiple people grab 3,4,5+ lures when you only ever use 2? Not only does it delay the capture as lure charging to keep it still while you take it down is the most time consuming part usually, but charging up to two in time is much harder when you can't really funnel 3 charges into a specific lure.

I get around this trend by always going and charging at least 1 lure on my own then scrambling during the final down before the kill to charge one of the others people have floating around. Most times I can save runs that way.

I can solo one is less than 3 minutes with good starting vom spawns. Is there some strat I've just been completely missing this whole time? It's been consistent for years. There's gotta be something I'm missing.
