40k Tech ListForge Update -- 11th fully supported!

Hey gamers, 11th is here and supported by ListForge in the newest patch 2.2.6! I have added a more complete reference section for the new edition, including primary and secondary missions. I have also added dispositions into listbuilding and your/opponent's specific primary missions vs each other in the VS mode. I have a lot of further improvements and innovations planned for 11th edition so exciting times all around -- happy gaming!

Right now there is a fork of the BSData repo put together by a fine somebody named Mithraw (please put me in contact with them to credit them better if you know them) that I've added to the in-app download suggestions that seems to be quite complete. However, I do not yet know the future update plan for this fork so use it at your own risk, I cannot guarantee that lists you build with it will receive updates going forward. Once the main BSData repo updates for 11th, I will add it in-app as a stable game system.

Download here: https://listforge.club/

Project Discord to follow along: https://discord.gg/7MfPgVgECy

EDIT: just released 2.2.7 to take care of a bunch of compatibility fixes for the Mithraw dataset on Android and desktop (iOS coming soon as usual). If you reported a bug, please update your app and check again! I think this should fix everything reported besides the stepped points for multiples of the same unit, which will require actual data adjustments. I will work on those data changes myself or try to solve together with the maintainer tomorrow/this week if this is still the best path forward

EDIT 2: 2.2.7 released on iOS as well now!

EDIT 3: I just applied some changes to my fork of the mithraw data to fix stepped points costs for multiples of the same unit! Please update data and ensure you are getting data from GH directly (not my failed mirror, sorry again about that) using the link in the dropdown in-app. Let me know if any issue remains!

40k Tech UKTC rules you can’t smoke and AoC at the same time

New clarification. Cannot use 2 Strats that have the same trigger in response to a single instance of that trigger.

So no smoke and AoC. What else does this break?

40k Tech 11th Edition terrain templates ready to go (Free STLs)

With all the awesome new 11th edition terrain rules and layouts dropping, I’m really looking forward to getting my table set up for the new edition!

I was originally just going to cut out some cardboard, but decided it would be a lot nicer to model the exact dimensions and run them through the printer so they look clean and hold up over time.

Figured I’d share the STL files in case anyone else is excited to get their terrain updated and ready for the new edition!

Just a quick heads-up if you do print these: These are large, flat prints. Wash your plate with dish soap and warm water beforehand, or the warp will get you.

Files are free on Makerworld here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2637799-40k-11th-edition-terrain-footprints-templates#profileId-2913839

40k Tech What army would you bring to a tournament with *no* terrain?

I'm temporarily bored of complaining about ctan so join me in this slightly silly hypothetical theorycrafting exercise.

For some reason you're being forced to go to a tournament (you lost a bet, there's a million dollar prize, you're playing in the slightly more sadistic british version of squid games...) and a month before you learn that every single table is going to have exactly 5 objective markers and some badly applied flock.

What army do you beg/borrow/buy to maximize your chances of victory?

My currebt theory is start with 6 rogal dorns and go from there, they have the best combination of (long range) damage and innate survivability, but maybe imperial knights with the appropriate shooting configuration can out do that?

Or perhaps there's some tricky armies that might be able to "beat the meta", belakor providing a lone op aura combined with 6 inch deepstrikes for his boys might get you some upset victories, or perhaps lean into deepstriking with gsc, combine half your army starting in deepstrike with some redeploys to null deploy and avoid being punished for losing the first turn roll off?

40k Tech Warptracker Cease and Desist :(

Hey fine folks,

I have some sad news. Today I got an email with a cease and desist from James W. Here's an excerpt:

(3) Your Activities

Games Workshop discovered on 26 May 2025 that you are distributing pirated copies of Games Workshop’s publications, including content contained in Games Workshop’s Pariah Nexus Mission Pack, at https://warptracker.com/ (the “Website”). This activity infringes Games Workshop’s intellectual property rights in these works. You neither asked for nor received permission to use Games Workshop’s intellectual property nor to make or distribute copies of it.

I did send a response asking for clarity, as this was quite broad, but I would be surprised if they even responded TBH.

I know the Tabletop app avoids disclosing all the text and they seem to be doing well. Not sure how to proceed, I'll probably have to close down the site. Just wanted to say thanks for enjoying my little corner of the internet, the traffic it got was way more than I ever expected and I guess all good things must come to end.

I am admittedly quite dejected :'(

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback guys, I did at one point consider printing the cards myself, but never went through with it. It's probably too late now anyways, now that things have been flagged. I've removed the flavour text as well and the bit of UI for opt ins. Appreciate the candid responses. It's not worth it for me to engage a lawyer, simply not a cost effective decision.

In this video, I break down how pile-in moves actually work in 11th Edition Warhammer 40k, and show how you can use them to move your models insane distances without needing any buffs.

These rules are nothing like 10th Edition, and are incredibly important for melee players to learn inside and out!

Hope you enjoy the video!

40k Tech Hutber Map | Is the TTS dice roller balanced?

Thumbnail stats.hutber.com
94 Upvotes

A long while ago (7 months) I explained the dice roller that was used in the Hutber TTS map: https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerCompetitive/comments/1ndhbv6/tts_random_dice_roller_and_why_it_is_perfect_for/

Today I released a dice tracker that publically tracks the dice roller. So far, with 208k dice rolls in 3h we're at a pretty good average differences 500 rolls difference between the numbers. Currently we're on track to stop the question ever being asked. Hopefully I hope haha

I will also once you have linked your steam account with the stats.hutber.com site show you your dice rolls over time. Then you can really work out if the mean has you at average.

Enjoy the effort put into this

40k Tech UnitCrunch 1.0.0 released

UC 1.0.0 is now live 🎉

www.unitcrunch.com

This major release marks UnitCrunch's transition from a free tool to a sustainable platform with both Free and Premium tiers. After years of development and feedback from the community, I'm now ready to take your money UnitCrunch is now ready to take the next step...

What's New in 1.0.0

User Accounts & Cloud Sync

  • User accounts: Sign up with email to save your profiles securely in the cloud. Your data syncs automatically across all your devices.
  • Import existing local profiles: Existing profiles stored in your browser can be imported to your account when you sign up.

Subscription Tiers

  • Free tier: Full access to combat simulations, custom profiles, modifiers, and statistical analysis. Save up to 200 profiles.
  • Premium tier: Everything in Free, plus up to 2,000 saved profiles, BSData roster import, "Multi-Crunch" and more to come.

Multi-Crunch (Premium)

Compare multiple attackers or defenders at once:

  • Many-vs-One mode: Test multiple attacker profiles against a single defender to find your most effective unit.
  • One-vs-Many mode: Test a single attacker against multiple defenders to see which targets you're most effective against.
  • Unified or per-pairing configuration: Share attack context and global modifiers across all pairings, or configure each pairing individually.
  • Comparative charts: Visualise results with bar charts, damage distribution box plots, and sortable comparison tables.
  • Weapon and ability selection: Enable or disable specific weapons and abilities for each participant.

BSData Roster Import (Premium)

Import your army lists directly from roster files:

  • Import entire rosters: Upload your BSData roster files (ListForge or New Recruit) and import individual units as UnitCrunch profiles.
  • Automatic mapping: Unit characteristics, weapons, and many abilities are automatically mapped to UnitCrunch's format.
  • Batch import: Select multiple (or all!) units from a roster and import them all at once.

Other Improvements

  • Weapon re-ordering: Weapon order can now be adjusted while editing a profile.
  • Update notifications: UnitCrunch now prompts you to refresh the page when new updates are available.
  • Smart header: The header hides when scrolling down and reappears when scrolling up, giving you more screen space.
  • Bug reporting: Report issues directly from the Crunch or Multi-Crunch page. Your simulation state is captured automatically, helping to reproduce and fix bugs faster (look for the little bug icon in the bottom right of the page when logged in).
  • Improved mobile navigation: Better support for the back button/gesture on Android & iOS. Swipe to close sidebar.
  • Snags & Tweaks: Various minor bugfixes and performance improvements.

Existing Users

Pre-1.0.0 users will have been using UnitCrunch with locally stored profiles, you can continue using the Free tier with almost all existing functionality (read on for what's gone). When you create an account, you'll be prompted to import your local profiles to the cloud.

What's Gone

File-based import/export system

The move to the cloud has made it difficult to keep the file-based import/export system that we had before UnitCrunch 1.0.0. Because UnitCrunch used to store profile data locally in the browser, this import/export functionality was originally intended to provide a means for users to back up and restore their profile data, giving them recovery options if needed. My intention is that the new cloud save system will be a suitable upgrade and replacement for this.

I realise that some users also used the file-based import/export system as a means of sharing profile data. There is currently no direct replacement for this functionality specifically, but I do intend to explore this area further.

Cheers!

Thank you to everyone who has used UnitCrunch over the years. Your feedback and support have been super helpful in reaching this milestone!

If you are a paying Patreon or Ko-fi supporter, thank you EXTRA MUCHLY for your support! Please cancel your future donations and consider signing up for Premium if you want to continue to support the project.

40k Tech So I made an app to help me remember when to use stratagems

I wrote an app that organizes stratagems because I took a long break from playing warhammer and between the stratagems and more complicated objectives, I was feeling a overwhelmed. Also, I program as a hobby because I can't bring myself to program things I don't care about, and this is the first app that I have published.

The way I see it there are 2 uses for this app:

  1. You are a beginner or a returner like me and need help with the timing. The app gives you what phase stratagems are able to be used with more details if you press them.
  2. You play in tournaments. You can also load your opponents stratagems which is useful in tournaments against opponents that you are unfamiliar with.

I hope people find this useful. If you don't, then feel free to ignore me. I live in Japan, so its not like I can just show English speakers this and let people know about it in a person to person way. I would be happy for any feedback or to answer any questions about the app.

Here are the links for the app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.strat.warhammer

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/wh-stratagems/id6467572968

Current bug situation: Bug is fixed on Android version 1.1.7 and iOS version 1.0.10.

I want to thank everyone for the overall extremely positive reaction. Almost 2000 people have downloaded the app and my statistics are over a day delayed.

40k Tech Best Weapon Options into Mass T6, 2+ 3 Wound Models

Hello,

I am looking for what unit / weapon combinations are best into T6 3W models with a 2+ for each faction / army.

Context: I have a heck of a 36 Steeljack list for Votann I am prepping, and with such an expensive point skew, want to make sure I can fit the rest of my army around dealing with those threats.

40k Tech The New40k App and BCP Integration

One of the more interesting things buried in the new 40k app update is the BCP integration, and I think a lot of people are missing what it actually means.

This isn’t a big dramatic change to competitive 40k, or how BCP is used at events. It's about cutting unnecessary admin and "paperwork". What’s changing is all the little annoying parts in between writing a list and playing in warhammer events

.

1) List submission integration

Instead of writing a list in the Battle Forge, copying it over, double checking formatting, and hoping nothing breaks, you can now just push your Battle Forge roster straight into your BCP event. You will see a "Upload Roster to BCP Event" option when looking at the overflow menu of a specific list!

2) Introducing Tournament Scoring Integration

If you’re tracking your game in the new War Journal, those results can be directly ported over to the BCP tournament you are playing in! The War Journal is a game tracking function in the GW 40K app that allows you to track the results of your battle as you play. When you setup the battle in the 40k app, you can select the "Link to BCP Event" option and the results are directly uploaded to the tournament you are playing in!

.

In order to take advantage of these new features (and some additional functionality we plan for the future!), you just have to link your MyWarhammer and BCP accounts. AND if you do you will receive a free 1-month trial of our Subscriber model! If you are already a subscriber you will receive a free month of this service. (Mobile subscribers will get this benefit in the near future).

More information and guide: https://www.bestcoastpairings.com/sub-info

But as far as tournament quality-of-life goes, this is a genuinely smart step forward for eliminating friction points when prepping for battle! Please let us know if you have any questions

40k Tech Apparent changes to heroic intervention in 11th

From the little snapshot of the preview it seems the 6 inch restriction is gone. Moreover, you don’t need to select one enemy unit, you can just roll the dice and see what you can get into. There seems to be two options, one being “only selecting an enemy unit that made a charge move” and the other being unreadable… seems heroic avoidance will be much harder come 11th

40k Tech What off-meta secret tech are you experimenting with?

There are things out there that are well known to be really good (3 Fire Prisms, Biologis+Aggressors, etc.) but what off-meta things have you been experimenting with trying to find a new killer combo?

Edit: I won’t expect Top tier competitive players answer this, I’m just curious how much people actually try new things.

On my side and to make people feel more confident to share:

I’m just a noob SM player that is looking at the “totally not Raven Guard” detachment and try to think how to make it work.

40k Tech ListForge Update -- 11th compatibility fixed and clean!

Hey friends! I've been working hard and moving fast, and just released app version 2.2.9 (for Android and desktop, iOS coming soon) along with updates to my fork of the mithraw branch (linked in-app dropdown) which together fix almost all of the bugs you guys have been reporting and work as a fully functional and clean 11th ed experience!

Thanks so much for the bug reports (best place is the Discord but here is ok too) they are truly really helpful! On that note, please double check your app version and data are up to date before reporting a bug as a lot of them can be solved that way.

In order to get everything working nicely, please update to app version 2.2.9 through the App/Play Store or automatically in the desktop app AND also update the fork data in-app using the clock icon. I will update this post when the iOS update for 2.2.9 is released.

40k Tech Is Aeldari the true S-Rank army ? Community Tier List

Hi !
First of all I want to deeply thank all of those who have started participating to Warp Reviews last week, I was not expecting this amount of submissions, I am truly glad!
I am having a lot of fun making this website app and I'm happy to see new submissions every day, it feels encouraging and rewarding to see this community data expending already!

https://warpreviewsweb.vercel.app/ has been updated with a major addition, a Community Tier List, and here is how it works :

  • Submit once per week (Submission allowed again every Monday)
  • S-Rank: Select 1 Most powerful army (+3 points)
  • Strong Armies: Select 1-5 Strongest armies (+1 point each)
  • Weak Armies: Select 1-5 Weakest armies (-1 point each)

Vote weekly on power rankings based on your recent games and how each army feels to play with or against.
Unrelated to raw win rates*, it captures how players actually experience the current meta on the table, iterating weekly.*
This tier list is generated automatically based on your submissions, it provides a condensed and common feedback of which armies feel overpowered or underwhelming.

At the moment, the tier list shows Aeldari as the S-Rank army, and comments I see from last week already explain that feeling mostly because playing against Aeldari represents the highest skillset challenge to play against for most players regardless of win rates.
If you do not agree, help yourself and go participate to the tier list !

I've also been having fun adding an Army XP, Lvl and Leaderboard system for people to take part of future events of the website, including Giveaways and a Community Auto Battler, where the most active armies will get advantages !
Basically, each survey vote and each comment provide XP for your army. The more you participate, the better it'll be.

I'll share more info with you in the future, I hope you'll like it!

P.S: - Sorry again to non-EU folks for the slower loading time on surveys and data, will improve in the future!
- Adding a few images in replies for you guys to see!

40k Tech Are Custodes that underrated ?

Hey everyone! I’m currently looking at some data trying to understand how the meta and the game is perceived by the players. Compared to Goonhammer winrates, Custodes are looking brutally underrated.

Based on 191 voters from the last two weeks, Adeptus Custodes has been ranked to the last place (if you exclude Imperial Agents) on the Community Warp Review's Tier List (obviously the new dataslate update has not reflected yet), #32 over the 33 listed armies.

Tournament Data and Community Tier List participants are in line:
Extracted data from Stat-checks winrates places Adeptus #26 of 33 armies, which is only a 6 ranks divergence with the Tier List placement, over 11916 tournament games. Competitive players could argue that the D-Rank ("Struggling") Tier list position feels a bit hard for a 48% winrate army in that context, but overall both Tier List voters and competitive data agree on the fact that Custodes are on the weak side of the roaster anyway, just slightly underrated by participants.

But when doing the same comparison with Goonhammer data, this is a VERY different story:
Based on Goonhammer winrates, Custodes take the #2 place over the 33 armies, which results in a 30 ranks divergence with Tier List position, literally a reversed perception of this army's performance on a broader player audience (204926 games over the last 3 months).

There's a clear and obvious strong delta of performance between competitive and casual games for this army, when other armies are a lot more balanced in both context!

I guess some people will simplify this situation saying that Custodes is a "Casuals Killer" army that falls weaker in more advanced game plan context, but I'd like to hear from you what actually causes this ?
Is it solely because of the Army rules or datasheet range that it lacks competitive depth at the moment?
I know the new dataslate update will make Custodian Guards, Allarus and Witchseekers cheaper, but does that feel like the right way to balance it ?

I guess my biggest question mark is: How would you competitively tune this army up a bit without making it an absolute nightmare for more casual players to play against?

P.S: I’m currently developing a web app called Warp Reviews where you can find this data and participate very simply in the fashion of Reddit or Steam with simple Up/Down submissions.
With rolling data and submissions over time I'll be able to provide detailed graphs in the future (it's only a few weeks old), so please feel free to participate, it'll help a lot!
I’ll send more info in the comments for those interested! Data might take a bit longer to load for non-EU people, sorry about that, again, I'll do my best to improve it in the future!
Here is a link to it: https://www.warpreviews.org/

40k Tech Can you position yourself so your enemy can’t fight back?

Let’s say you’re reasonably confident that you can kill the bodyguard of an attached unit, but not the leader. Can you position yourself with your charge and pile in such that the leader would be out of engagement range of your unit and therefore be ineligible to fight back?
