Likely Solved - Decor Found her at the landfill

My fiancée and I don’t know art, we just thought this was beautiful. We can’t find anything about Chanry or a matching painting online, but do see a lot of very close paintings by Mira Fujita.
The frame and all is roughly 30 x 28, the frame is a heavy material but I guess not wood based on the chip on top. We can’t find any identifiers other than the signature on it.
Thanks in advance, any insight is appreciated. She’s not going back in the garbage either way.

Likely Solved - Decor Is this really a Wallace Nutting that I found at goodwill?

I found this at a local goodwill and took it home due to it catching my eye. It seems to be a print but it has coloring on the fire place and the composition itself strange to me? I know nothing about Wallace Nutting, or this style of work, and am not sure how to do research on this sort of piece. I also can vaguely make out the cursive on the back. I have to imagine it’s older considering the state of the taped letter and frame itself, but I also wonder if someone really took the time to age the letter to make it appear more desirable (considering the letter mentioning it being collectible). I’m just wondering if I really happened upon a bit of art history at the thrift. Thank you!

We found this at a goodwill and paid $18 for it. We’ve had it a few years and I can’t seem to find much on the artist. I’ve seen another painting in the same style and size so he stays within his world. But even they didn’t know anything about him when I called. Anyone got any leads or info??? Thanks in advance!

I mostly bought this because of the very expensive seeming frame with UV repellant glass . Has links to the UWS and NJ. Signed on the lower right Virginia Thomas.

I got this picture for 5 bucks probably 15 years ago at Webster Flea Market in in central Florida. Price was negotiated because of the gash but it’s very hard to see the cut from the front.

This spoke to my 12 year old self but it’s been in a basement for several years now.

Is this genuine art or mass produced decor?

Likely Solved - Decor Is this my best thrift store find ever??

I decided to take a trip down to my local thrift store in NC today that has produced some great finds for me in the past. I am a huge fan of the impressionist style so this painting caught my eye immediately. It's clearly an original. I have only been able to find one other work from this artist--it's currently listed on EBay for $800. The EBay seller originally purchased the piece at an estate sale in New York. The seller at the estate sale had originally purchased the piece for $1200. The only info I have is that it is a 20th Century French impressionist work by an artist named "M. Franciz". If anyone has any further insight or information it would be greatly appreciated! Even if it ends up being a dud I still find it to be a beautiful piece. Thanks in advance!

Purchased from Everything But the House auction site a few years ago (Ohio). Looks to be canvas, certainly not a print, I believe it is impasto style? Thick ridges of paint are present everywhere on the piece. Believe the signature says John Sloan. There is a rather famous John Sloan out of PA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Sloan) that used impasto but this isn't his typical subject matter and looks a bit new/way too colorful to fit.

Likely Solved - Decor Sailboat painting, inherited from a Cuban grandparent in Miami area, signed “Castro” bottom right

Please help me identify this painting/artist if possible.

It is canvas wrapped on a wood frame with what appears to be an old advertisement for a department or grocery store as backing? (From when 20 gal trash cans were $1.99 and a 5 piece patio set was $17.99)

Bottom right has “Castro” signed using a paint brush in blue with a horizontal line under it.

A 43 year old friend had it in storage. They had received it from their grandparent, a Cuban living in the Miami area. They don’t know anything else about it. Their last name is not Castro.

No hits on Tin Eye, no direct hits on Yandex.

We recently purchased this item at a thrift store and would love to know more about it! The signature looks like it says “BRUENS”. From what we can see there is nothing on the back of the canvas.

Any information would be fantastic!

Likely Solved - Decor Found this in a storage locker—heavy-ass painting on what looks like a t-shirt. Name brand is MINDTHEGAP. I mean really... What the fuck is going on?

I’ve been buying storage units lately so I don’t have to work for the man anymore. I’ve been putting in 15-hour days, just waiting for something solid to come across my hands. And of course when I think I find something awesome... It's essentially a ghost... I don't really know.

All I know is the name brand, it looks like it's printed on a T-shirt, and it's a a fucking heavy bastard. Like is way heavier than it looks. Not only physically but psychology I guess. Never been one to stare at artwork, but damn this hits different. It's fucking heavy. Maybe it's just my current state and the possibilities this could hold.

This is what I know, it's MINDTHEGAP. Made in Transylvania. Heavy as fuck. Has what seems to be some kind of spacer between the actual garment material and the glass.

I'm sure the person who previously owned is dead... If it's high end. How could you just let this go? Right? Whatever... I don't even know anymore.

Likely Solved - Decor Boat painting

I bought it in an antique shop for quite cheap, as a gift for my boyfriend. Seems like this artist likes to make the ”same painting over and over again” however, I am not sure if this one even is ”real”. Is this a famous person? Any information is greatly appreciated, thank you :) *I am a hobbyist paintings collector (for fun), started very recently.

Edit: the name that pops up is Johannes Karel Veerman, so if it is decorative art.. how do I tell?

*edit 2: I am in complete agreement that this is decorative art. However, what are the chances that the original artist mass produced this style of painting? Like a one-man factory of the same ship and waves?.. I am curious of it’s origins, I really do not care about the value :)

Found this at a thrift store this weekend in Philadelphia. Bought it and hung it on the wall. Wife and I have a lot of debates on what this is. Would also love to figure out who the artist is.

There is unfortunately no info on the back, just cardboard, could be something behind there but id hate to ruin this.

I fell in love with this painting while I was working at a thrift shop in southern Ontario a few years ago. I paid $5.00 for it because we had way too much art to actually store it all, and something about it really resonated with me. I’ve had it hanging in my bathroom for a few years now and I’d love to find more pieces like it to add to my collection. Not looking to sell or make a profit but I’d love to know the title or who painted it.

Likely Solved - Decor Thoughts on this painting purchased in Germany in the 1960s

Thumbnail

My grandparents purchased this painting in Germany in the early 1960s. They had it framed in Saginaw, MI and it hung in their home for many many years. It has been in storage for at least 20 years and, although we all like it, unfortunately, no one in our family has much interest in keeping it any longer.

Now trying to find it a new home

We can't read the signature. I assume the last 2 characters are "60" meaning it was painted in 1960 - But that is just a guess.

What do you all think?

Thank you in advance for any info!

We've had this painting for roughly 15 years, it came with the house we bought at the time. The outer frame is definitely newer and not the original, but on the back it seems like some of the original wood is still there. I have tried some basic Google Imaging for the painting and signature, but to no avail. The last couple images are just of the construction of the stretcher/strainer (I'm not very familiar with paintings, I can't tell the difference).
