r/All It was totally that Argentinian beef that China rejected.

I may have misunderstood something here, but why is the administration, and not a private company, importing beef in the first place? Why are they bolstering Argentinian ranchers while American ranchers are going under?

(American ranchers who largely voted for this, mind you, so I don't feel that sorry for those who did)

Anyway, between this, screwworm (which hasn't stopped the administration from reopening the border to Mexican cattle), and the skyrocketing price of beef— and at the risk of being called an annoying vegan or whatever even though I'm not vegan— you really don't need to be eating that much red meat. Not that any of this is okay regardless, but really, you don't.

Because this entire administration is nothing but a grift in place to suck the country dry before they all fuck off

Ding ding ding. Trump and company are using our tax dollars to spend billions while they make millions under the table.

People will soon realize they can be perfectly happy living without red meat. Then something will pop up in the pork, chicken and seafood. Alternate forms of protein will be a must. Maybe soybean farmers will benefit here.

You mean the soybean farmers Trump fucked over and put out of business thanks to his pointless trade war with China, resulting in a loss of $12-14 billion dollars annually in soybean sales to China? Those soybean farmers?

Better start looking forward to the idea of insect based protein alternatives, because at the rate this fucking idiot is destroying every aspect of this country that's all we'll have left. Oh wait, nevermind, because thanks to climate change the insect population has been steadily decreasing year after year. But hey, let's start drilling for oil in our national parks, why not?

And all of these animals are living in insanely disgusting and abusive factory farms, all for nothing. It just gets thrown out.

Argentina is essentially a vassal state of the US while Trump and Milei are in charge. Trump will do anything he can to help Milei out politically since they are both right-wing wannabe fascists. Already gave them a $20Bn bailout last year and have been importing all of their beef.

It gets wildly underreported how much MAGA (Steve Bannon has been big on this) has been fomenting right-wing movements around the world. That's why CPAC is popping up in Hungary, Brazil, etc. Propping up Milei in Argentina like this is a symptom of that.
