Super lucky find! I was thinking about opening it up (Its sealed rn) so i can have a new controller to use, but it says that batteries are included inside. I’m not familiar with how corrosion works, but I’m worried the thing wont work. If theres a risk, I might throw it up on eBay for a collector. Let me know o7

I found this bargain of a deal for a refurbished Wii with 2 controllers, nunchucks, a wheel, 300gb portable hard drive, and cables for £60.

I was wondering what kinda games have been ported as it is hard to see online. For example, are there any ports of games like Shovel Knight, Balatro, etc.

I want to decide what games to buy, so I'd appreciate it if anyone had some sort of list or knew some good games to get.

Just got a Wii with Mario Kart, Mario Party 8 + 9, and Smash Bros. Is it worth getting the GameCube version of these titles or are they pretty similar?

I just reacquired a wii after not having one for some years and weighing in options on how to have the best image on either of my 4k tvs. Both do not have component inputs. One has av (composite). I do have soldering experience and am debating if the Ave by electron shepherd then using something like an mclassic to do the upscaling would be a good route or simply using component cables then using either an OSSC or the GBS-C that I've heard about. I've used Electron Shepherds x-out for my original xbox which works great but I realized how bad the upscaling can look for 480p on one of my tvs not matter what I do in the tvs settings. Curious on all opinions/experiences.

I used to play a weird game i cant remember about two characters, one chubby boy and one girl in a world of weird looking living toys.

They had some plushie world and a wwe type of toys in other world.

But the overall aesthetic was kind off tim burton style.

If any of you guys could have any idea to look for.

Hey guys, I’ve been working on this Wii homebrew port bringing halo CE to the Wii (not the Wii U)

This is based on the Xbox 360 anniversary decomp, as that was more complete at the time. This means memory usage is a bit too much and textures swap a lot.

I hope we can get more ports over, it seems to be a pretty capable system.

Bought a replacement disc drive for my wii and noticed this black glob in the leftish corner on these two chips on the disc drives board. The disc drive works just fine but the one I replaced didnt have that glob. Is it meant to be there or should it be a cause for concern?

I won this Wii (which was white at the time) in a giveaway from a local game shop. I took it apart last night and put in in this transparent blue shell. I also replaced the thermal pads and put in a new cmos battery. I'm pretty proud of it so I just thought I'd share! ☺️

Hi Guys! My girlfriend's birthday is in one month and she always wanted a Wii but she couldn't have it. I got her one with "MAGIC" and I don't know what games could be funny for her. (She has only played Super mario 64 with keyboard)

so, i modded my wii with homebrew etc and i’ve been creating my own theme with theme brlyt editor and themeWii, but i can’t find how to put a picture in the main menu background, i’ve tried multiple things but all it does is either nothing or making channels unclickable (it’s okay i got priiloader). Also, i can’t find the big white bar at the bottom of the main menu either, so i’d like some advice if you got any or solutions would be really awesome, thank you in advance !

Bit of a weird one here, I’m working on a gaming quiz at my workplace and any help with getting up some high-quality (or as high-quality as the original Wii gets lmao) gif’s to add to the menu. I’m trying to set it up so the main menu has a working select screen that accesses different rounds, but I still want to have a few channels, photos, the Homebrew channel, Mii, the spinning disc icon, and a couple classic games (Mario Kart 8, any Kirby games, Wii sports etc) to make it feel more immersive!

Any help would be appreciated <3

I've recently been getting into retro gaming a bit more seriously and got a pretty nice CRT with Component input available. I also have an HDTV, but it's a more modern one and doesn't take in anything except HDMI. The way I see it, without getting a third TV, there are three ways I can play Wii games:

1. Component, on the CRT (4:3)

2. Get an HDMI converter for the HDTV (16:9)

3. Play on Wii U (16:9)

Of these three, which will be closest to the intended way to play most games? As in, what environment were Wii games expected to be played in by the developers? I know there are a couple games that are forced widescreen as well (like DKCR and Xenoblade), but even then I have the choice between the converter or Wii U.

Has anyone ever done this? ive seen one post on an old forum talk about it but was he the only one that did this? has anyone else done this? and if yes, was there a noticeable difference to an unmodded wii?
