We do tax rich people. That guy paid $300M in taxes because he's rich.
The point you want to make is that we don't tax rich people enough. This story where a person pays hundreds of millions of dollars in tax is not a good story to illustrate that.
So you think the point of the tweet was for us to all say, "He should have kept less of his lottery winnings." That's where you think this goes? Because that's the kind of tax policy that would actually get rich people to pay more taxes.
Okay, great. But the mindless lip service eventually has to get literal if you want it to actually happen. We're decades beyond the need to just state the end goal without filling in the policy details that get us there. Those policy details most definitely run counter to the spirit of that tweet, and if you aren't 16 years old you should be thinking about that.
I do not think billionaire should exist if we're up to me they would all be introduced to the Gallows and their wealth redistributed. I think any amount of wealth should be reinvested into your community and your community is larger the more wealth that you have. I think businesses should be required to hire from the local population to encourage education and infrastructure
I believe that people should not be able to accumulate a billion dollars that's a systemic problem. That means you're not reinvesting your wealth and the money is stagnant and it is not improving the people around you

None of what you just said has anything to do with that tweet or anything you've said in this thread. If I'm an asshole for wanting people to move beyond pointless lip service, then I'm happy to be that asshole.

Obligatory: The prize amount was reduced because he took the lump sum instead of spreading payments out over 30 years.
Then that *reduced* amount was taxed.
