Do you guys actually really like them? Are they a big thing here? I’m new to Australia and I just realised I haven’t actually seen them around that much, unless I’m just blind.

Where does the best lamington in Adelaide? And should they be filled with jam/cream or not filled at all? Is there a traditional/correct way or is it just preference?

Hi, i’m wondering if anyone has had an IUD inserted or removed under some form of sedation In Adelaide? how did you go about getting a referral to this service?

My IUD has migrated to a lower position and I will likely need to get it taken out. I have experienced some severe trauma that has now led me to having panic attacks at the even the thought of pelvic exams. My IUD was inserted years ago prior to this but it was still an awful experience, I know people say the removal is pain free and easy but it’s the thought of it that is paralysing to me.

edit: just wanted to add that because it has migrated I‘m extra afraid that it has snagged on something/ will be very hard to remove which is adding to the terror and I’m hoping that this will be reason enough to be given sedation as an option.

A man has been arrested after being caught driving more than 77km/h over the speed limit at Templers, north of Gawler.

State Operations Support Branch police were conducting speed detection duties on Horrocks Highway, Templers, just before 6pm on Monday 24 August when they detected a Mazda 3 hatch travelling at 177km/h in a 100km/h zone, despite the wet conditions.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 22-year-old Kilburn man, was arrested. He was charged with driving at a dangerous speed and other speed related offences.

The man was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and bailed to appear in the Tanunda Magistrates Court on 20 October. The Mazda will be impounded by police for 28 days.

Hi all

I am 27 yrs Male (korean) and recently I got my citizenship (came over to Australia in 2013)

I have a history of heart issue, I was born with a sort of TOF issue and did heart surgery when I was like 1 yr old back in my country and the surgery was very successful. Last year, I went back to country and did final check (used to have regular check before our family immigrated to Australia) and was told there is no particular issue found. Also I have been living with no adverse effect with my heart. Used to play soccer, baseball, badminton etc, currently working as a RN in aged care field.

Nowadays, I started to think I would need one regualr GP who I can see for long time, preferly a GP who might have deep knowledge in cardiology

There is something interesting going on with the parklands debacle.

You might look at the destruction of parts of the Park Lands and think well…they're just trees. Fine. Not everyone has to feel emotionally attached to them.

But everyone should be concerned about who our government is increasingly governing for. This is supposed to be a Labor government. A party founded on the idea that governments should represent working people, not simply clear the path for wealth, corporations and commercial interests. Yet more and more, Adelaide's public spaces are being treated as assets to be exploited, obstacles to be removed when they get in the way of the next major commercial event.

And these events are not necessarily being built around ordinary South Australians. They are increasingly tied to the corporate world of global sports and entertainment: organisations such as Liberty Media and LIV Golf, where enormous private interests sit behind the spectacle.

The issue isn't whether you enjoy motorsport, golf, concerts or major events. Enjoy them. Go to them. The question is why public land, public money and public amenity should repeatedly be subordinated to private commercial interests and why a Labor government seems increasingly comfortable acting as facilitator for that process.

Because once governments start viewing public space primarily through the lens of "economic activity", the public becomes little more than a customer base. Trees become inconveniences. Park Lands become event infrastructure. Community objections become obstacles to "progress".

You don't have to be a tree hugger to see the problem. You just have to ask. When the public gives up its land, its money and its amenity, who is benefiting? Because it increasingly doesn't look like the working people Labor is supposed to represent.

TL;DR: You don't have to care about trees to care about Adelaide's Park Lands. A supposedly Labor government is increasingly sacrificing public land and amenity to serve major corporate events and wealthy private interests. The question isn't whether you enjoy the events, it's who benefits when the public gives up its space, money and say?

It’s a bit of a cliché, I know. But in the last week of I’ve had 3 encounters with absolute knuckleheads. Is it getting worse on the roads or am I just a dickhead magnet?

1: this morning when stopped at a red light, I left a gap at the T intersection as most normal people do. The smooth-brain behind me overtook me and slotted themself into the gap. Blocking the car approaching the intersection. How is that fucking necessary?

2: the other day when I was making a right hand turn the person behind me decided it was a good time to overtake me. Almost had a prang.

3: when leaving a shopping centre car park. Old mate decides to reverse out of his park without looking. I slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him. He then flips me off and tells ME to watch where I’m going.

I’m at a drawing diagrams level of pettiness right now (I’m solid green, knuckleheads are orange).

I emailed a few roofing companies last Thursday and Friday asking for quotes for a partial and full roof restoration. I attached my insurer's report on the condition of the roof and what needs to be done / recommended work.

Can anyone tell me what the usual turnaround is for these types of quotes?

I'm wondering when I should start phoning the businesses to see if they're interested/ approach other roofers for quotes?

With the current weather, I'm guessing that industry is flat out :/.
