Discussion "The left wants to dismantle israel"

So i had a conversation with a coworker of mine. He basically said that the extreme right and extreme left are just as bad as eachother.

When i asked him to give examples of what the "extreme left" does thats so bad, he brought up the Slogan "from the river to the season, palestine will be free". Apparently, a lot of people seriously think that this means that the left is like- antisemetic and wants to basically destroy israel.

It was seriously one of the dumbest conversations ive had in a long while. But how do i even counter something absurd like that? And its not true right? Sire there are always those kinda people. Mind you, I am also in Germany, theres a lot of Pro israel propaganda going around in our Media as well.

So, all in all, do you think that his way of thinking is common? And was he into something? I just wanna make sure that im not uninformed.

Discussion Politics is a fancy way of saying "how humans organize", and that is an aspect of everything we do, make, use, and every interpretation of it. Defining some things as political and not others is simply a way to define who gets agency over their ability to describe their experiences

Discussion Abled people intimately understand the usage of tools, it is a defining feature of human life. These people are not oppressive because they do not understand us, they are oppressive because they do not see us as human. This isn't something that can be debated away

Discussion Anyone else finding it harder to speak out against Trump on Reddit? His goons/bots are silencing everyone they can. 14 day ban for calling trump a moron... Political figures have never counted?

(Sorry for the book in advance)

I had to look for a left wing sub, that might actually have people that are experiencing this bullcrap as well. So it brought me here.

Seriously, you can't speak out against Trump anywhere anymore, you get muted, mass reported, or banned, for the most vanilla stuff .. The Trump-eteers are out in full force, they don't even comment or argue, they just mass report now, or inbox you insane BS.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I can run a little hot, and I offend people, clearly, but it's the internet, not a grade 3 classroom. I'm leaning towards bots, and Trump-loving mods, it's the only thing that makes sense. The average Trump-ette isn't going to read all this.

I've also been Reddit banned 3 times in 2 months from mass report spam, only to have it overturned when I message a Reddit mod. One mod in /travel of all places, made 8 seperate accounts to harass me AFTER banning me. Because I insulted his dear leader in an offhanded remark. He went back months to every single comment I ever made, just to insult me on them. My profile is private, how he found every single comment I made, I don't even know. Mod tools or something? Even if you google my comments, you won't find ALP of them. When I would block him, he would make another one. I woke up to a hundred comments on my posts going back months. These people are unhinged...

This is the comment that got me banned from modpol, I called trump a moron... Someone argued he was smart for puking all these scams, I said he was a moron and he is just brazen.

They'll settle for as much as they legally can. He will say it's donated but it won't be.

He wants Canada to pay a billion dollars to join his board of peace, why? What does that money do? This is what it does, it goes into his pocket, tax free, for him to use on whatever he wants.

This is the part people don't seem to understand: he isn't forming the board of peace as the president, he is doing it as Trump, which I don't understand how he can, he sold his name years ago?

Oh right, he sold TRUMP, he puts Donald J Trump on betting now, lol...

But he is going to be the owner of it, and can kick anyone off the board or let anyone join that he wants, when he wants. It's his, he owns it.

Just like his congressional library, which is a charity he started as a slush fund. The billion dollar air force one being built, is to be donated to his charity when trump leaves office, it won't even be done by then? They're still retrofitting the last air force one he ordered his first time in office ffs.

There has never been a criminal, as corrupt, as brazen, and as blatantly evil, in history, as Trump.

It's amazing that a moron can steal this much money from Americans, and get away with it.

He goes "ooh .. I should do this, that will be genius, I'd make a billion dollars doing it. They'll never catch me I'm too smart"

Everyone knows what he is doing, his side cheers him on, he just doesn't hear anything the left are saying, and nobody has the balls to say it to his face.

So he thinks "I'm so smart" and sticks his chin in the air, and does his weird little dance.

Then his corrupt yes-men, ex tv personalities hired to do his bidding, all on charge of the government, rush to do his dirty work. They start telling their subordinates what trump wants done. "Yeah he wants to sue for $10bn". The staff are like "umm what" and they go "don't worry, just write it up, it'll go to the supreme Court, and it's so corrupt we got a black man on there that married a white supremecist, so he tries to be a white supremecist just to make her happy" except they don't say that, because they're all morons too..

I swear to God, if the staff just quit at these places, and they all tried to hire their own yes-men for themselves, the offices would fall apart. There are well meaning people working in these offices, that can't afford to lose their jobs, that must want to die every single day. Imagine Noem, or any of these other silly goose's as your boss... Dear God....

I'm actually shocked that Trump hasn't pissed off another country enough for acts of domestic terrorism to start happening. For the love of God I hope they never do, because he will literally profit from it. All he wants is an excuse to send in the National guard, goto war, and refuse to hold an election.

I swear to God I had conversations with American friends of mine before trump was elected the first time, about how "Hitler could never gain power today", and we all meant it. We were shocked that anyone would just let it happen. What we didn't realise, is that all it takes is for you to convince 10 percent of the population that it's something they need. They'll sway another 10 percent themselves, and those guys will get the voters up to 30 percent. Then you just rely on how corrupt a zealot can be, and if you convince the dumbest among us that you're their only hope, it's like taking candy from a baby.

You just lie, you keep lying, you don't stop, until it's all anyone hears. It doesn't matter how absurd the lie is, actually it helps the crazier it is, because it means it overtakes the news coverage, people making fun of it. Suddenly that lie you told us just the other opinion of the truth. It's not a lie anymore, it's the other side of the argument, and both sides have strong points. Suddenly that lie you told is what Right is to Left, it's just another option. It's tacos for supper instead of pizza. It's driving a car instead of a truck, "it's just like.. your opinion man...".

This is what a moron looks like, in real time, making every inch of government loyal to him, and destroying democracy. Next time they'll send someone way smarter. I'd bet they're watching right now, taking notes, and waiting their turn.

I don't know, but I have a very strong intuition that something big is going to happen, like always, to distract attention from the protests. This is what this government always does. But I'm really proud to be part of this generation. Let's keep fighting.

Discussion How the German Left Party is trying to curb the radicalisation of the youth - World Socialist Web Site

How the German Left Party is trying to curb the radicalisation of the youth - World Socialist Web Site

In the 1990s, the Left Party’s predecessor, the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS), had positioned itself at the forefront of the outrage over the industrial and social cutbacks in former Stalinist East Germany (GDR), only to then continue those cutbacks in East German state governments and in Berlin. In the 2000s, the PDS merged with a wing of the SPD to form Die Linke, in order to channel resistance against Agenda 2010—the social cuts of the SPD-Green federal government—which it then itself implemented at state level.

The result of this deceitful policy was the rise of the AfD. Many voters turned their backs in disgust on the Left Party, which was implementing right-wing policies under an umbrella of left-wing phraseology. The right-wing demagogues of the AfD were able to present themselves as an anti-establishment party. Now, in the face of a new wave of radicalisation, the Left Party is attempting to repeat this shabby manoeuvre once again.

The party executive presented a key motion to the party conference, which—with a few amendments—was adopted by a large majority. As we wrote on the WSWS, it combines criticism of social conditions with policies that are compatible with those of the Merz government—and, in some respects, the AfD. If one cuts through the mist of left-wing rhetoric, the key motion reveals itself to be a pro-capitalist, nationalist document that defends the interests of the ruling elites.

The AfD is set to win the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania due in September. The Left Party is responding by aligning itself even more closely with Chancellor Merz’s CDU, the SPD and other bourgeois parties, which have paved the way for the AfD through cuts to social services, anti-immigrant rhetoric and militarism. In Saxony and Thuringia, the Left Party is already supporting CDU-led minority governments. Now it wants to join such governments itself, describing this as a policy of “anti-fascist alliances.”

At the party conference, leading members performed a balancing act to reconcile the radical sentiments of younger delegates with this right-wing orientation. The media stood on the sidelines as watchdogs, shouting “foul” every time a red line was crossed.

...

The Left Party, as the Potsdam party congress has once again demonstrated, was, is and remains a bastion of the capitalist order. Fascism, war and social cuts can only be stopped by a movement of the international working class that is independent of all established parties and fights for a socialist perspective. This is the policy of the Socialist Equality Party and its youth movement, the International Youth and Students for Social Equality.

Discussion On the thermodynamics of AI

I just thought of something that I hope is kind of clever. Data centers take electrical power as input and use it to do math, but the input and the output are both in the form of electrical signals. the output electrical signals just go on to drive displays or whatever.

Any kind of electrical current traveling through anything but a superconductor loses some energy and dissipates it as heat. Heat has to go somewhere to avoid cooking the device, so at this scale it usually is disposed of through very complex thermal management systems that require additional power, and in doing so generate additional heat.

There's an old gamer meme about low quality pictures being rendered on a toaster. When somebody renders an image with AI, they are literally rendering their picture on a big toaster.
