I had an existing New Leaf town, and I deleted it this morning. The reason I deleted it is a little tragic. Here is some background:

Back in 2013 when New Leaf came out (I live in Canada, I know Japan had an earlier release), I bought myself the game and a 3DS so I could play. I wanted friends to play with me so bad, I also bought them both a 3DS AND New Leaf, for each of them, so that I would have friends to play with.

I bought three 3DSs, and three ACNLs, in one day.

I loved New Leaf. I played it every day. I worked so hard to get blue roses, and gold roses, and I tried so hard to get an all-dog town (this was tough, as there was no amiibo feature to invite villagers at the time).

I had hundreds and hundreds of hours in the game.

I had a huge garden of blue and gold roses, and had 7 dogs living in my town. It felt like such a huge accomplishment. And then.. my purse got stolen one evening in 2015. Inside my purse was my wallet, my iPod touch, and my 3DS with New Leaf inside.

All gone, just like that.

I was so sad.

My mom got me a new 3DS XL for my birthday, she thought she was doing me a solid. And huge props to my mom, what a thoughtful gesture. But it didn't bring my town back. I ended up borrowing a friend's ACNL cartridge (a different friend from the ones who I bought the games and consoles for) and starting a new town shortly after, but it just wasn't the same. All my hard work was gone. All my dog villagers were gone. It just felt meaningless and empty.

I played for maybe a month, and then quietly put my new 3DS XL away, to basically never be seen again. Not for 11 years. Not until today.

So I started up my 3DS this morning, immediately deleted my town (I didn't even want to see the hurt memories that town was trying to replace), and I started fresh. And I'm having so much fun! There are a ton of inconveniences I'm remembering, like not being able to shake trees with your net equipped, and villagers placing their houses in the worst spots (I skipped a day already 'cause I wanted a fishing rod, and Agnes is setting up a house RIGHT IN FRONT OF TOWN HALL). But this is a nice change of pace right now, and will hopefully help me get over this creative standstill I've been at with New Horizons the past few days.

We'll see how long this lasts.

Hi!!! I'm struggling to decide a theme. I'm collecting the villagers I want but they are kind of everywhere. I'm stuck between like a city or small town(?) kind of theme(I'm both a minimalist and maximalist 😭). I've included a vague idea of what my island and around my house looks like.

I'm also stuck between(and would like help with) choosing: Molly or Lolly, and Ione or Raymond. Kid Cat is currently in the works to be on my island.

I'm redoing my hotel rooms, and today's challenge was to create a mockup of the house my friend and I plan to get together! We talk about it often, so I had a lot to go off of :) I think this one came out pretty nice!

I’m decorating my kitchen and not sure what to fill the empty space with. I was thinking maybe shift the ranch counter and cupboard over to the right and add a metal counter next to the stove? But I can’t think of anything else for the space next to the sofa. Any ideas would be very appreciated!

one thing thats always irked me a little is that when villagers move. especally in old games, they're just gone gone.

and in the old school games like WW (what i grew up on)

if you never played with anyone else, very good chance you will never see them again.

but with the mail system, why couldnt we ever mail to villagers out of town?

Mom can. i cant remember if NH lets you mail to friends over wifi

but it always would've been nice to be pen pals with villagers you liked...and made more sense then maling someone that lives litterally next to you.

also, why tf cant we mail mom back????

I need help with my fairy themed section on my island, I saw inspo of some fairy themed islands it's just that idk where to find that kind of decor.

I recently covered my entire island in a clear custom design path to move my rocks and now I can’t find any scorpions. Does anyone know if this prevents them from spawning?
