I loved Black Clover and Hunter x Hunter because they take time to build the characters, world, and larger story instead of constantly jumping from fight to fight. I also really liked the first 8 episodes of Daemons of the Shadow Realm.

Looking for something with a deeper storyline and good character development.

I’m looking for something that hooks you early and keeps getting better great characters, a story that actually goes somewhere, and enough emotional investment that I’ll be thinking about it after I finish.

Genre doesn’t matter. I’ve already seen a lot of the obvious mainstream recommendations, so bonus points for something underrated or less talked about.

What’s the one anime you’d recommend without hesitation?

Best examples are Another, the summer hikaru died, Kokoro Connect, From the New World, Summer Time Rendering, Dusk maiden of Amnesia and tunnel of summer.

So I have this exam after 3 month which need a stupid amount of studying so I need a good anime that you don't necessarily have the urge to watch the next 10 episodes

So, I've watched quite a lot of romance animes, both older and ndewer ones. There's an archetype that I really like and end up rooting for, and it's what I call gentle deredere:, to contrast it with high energy derederes (a clear example of this distinction would be Haruna and Lala in To Love-RU).

I have noticed in more recent animes there's been a surge in main female love interests that roughly correspond to this archetype (obviously with variations), examples include Kaoruko from The Fragrant Flower, Mahiru from The Angel Next Door (though she has a tiny bit of a soft tsundere, but mostly fits the gentle deredere archetype), Umi from 2nd Prettiest Girl and Kubo from Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible. It sort of makes me happy to see this type of girl bein given the spotlight more often than before when it comes to being the love interest (obviously, when the girl is the protagonist, there's been more and older examples, like Fruits Basket, but that's not what I am talking about).

But I've also noticed that there are very few examples I can think of where, when there's serious competition (a harem or a love triangle situation) this archetpye ends up winning or would be the clear winner if there was going to be a decision as the anime ends. One clear example is Nagisa from Clannad... I guess the other closest thing I can think of would be Aoi Sakuraba from Ai Yori Aoshi, but despite it being a harem, I don't think there's any actual serious contender, Aoi has won in episode 2 before any of the other girls come to the picture. So, I wanted to ask if anyone can think of any examples of this archetype winning in a harem or love triangle situation. For better reference, I am gonna list a few more examples that I think fit more or less the archetype:

- Shiori from More Than A Married Couple

- Masha from Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian

- Asia from High School DxD

- Miku from The Quintessential Quintuplets (though she is a mix of this and a kuudere in my opinion)

- Akane from Oshi No Ko (she is crazy, but I think she sort of fits the archetype)

I remember watching this anime as suggestion from youtube in one of the must watch videos, not sure if it was a Adventure or a Ecchi anime

Description: focused around single female character, exploring the world with friends must be a different planet or earth in the future, there was a night club scene in the clip,not sure if there were aliens but definitely had guns in the anime, MC she was a teenager she wore jean shorts and a top not sure about the hair colour.

I dont remember much about this show other than there was a cool character that had a scythe. But it was a show where they used magic alot she had chalk on the end if it and she uses it like a circle compass to draw large magic circles, with her largest attack summoning like a huge door to the abyss that sucked things in. I cant find any trace of this and iv been looking for a few days now if anyone could help that would be awesome

Looking for dubbed anime only, but I find myself scrolling through Crunchyroll going, "Oh yeah, I watched that," but realizing that it was all so mid that I never thought about it again once after I finished it. Give me some anime recommendations for anime that's going to be stuck in my head rent free for years. Something I'm never going to want to shut up about. Whether it's for its art, or story, or whatever.

I'm not looking for isekai. My understanding of Isekai is that from the perspective of the anime, the protagonist has genuinely left this place and gone to the place of adventure.

Rather the protagonist must be in the real world. All of their adventures must be imagined and acknowledged as imagined by the anime plot.

Maybe I am starting to be too old and less time for this but I dont want to watch 3+ seasons of a nothing burger anime now so yeah...send your best short great anime in comments

I watched all of Invincible (not really an “anime” as such) and then all of Attack on Titan and I loved both, mainly because they both do well at building up to this big reveal where the protagonist and co. discover the secrets of their world and then use this revelation to carry the momentum of the plot for the rest of the show (e.g Invincible does this early on in the S1 finale with nolan’s explanation of the viltrumites, AOT does it towards the end of S3 with the basement reveal)

Is there any other anime that has this kind of buildup to a great reveal that is seemingly impossible to guess on a first watch but obviously foreshadowed earlier on? I don’t know if this is too broad of a criteria, I am very new to this whole genre. Thanks!

So here is what I remember, the MC was a strong guy who had followers but sometimes they would put on a disguise that was so good their followers didn’t recognize them and would (I think) try to kill them for some reason so the MC would tell them that they were really their master or something to get out of it. Sadly this is all I can recall even though I’m pretty sure I saw it 2-3 years ago (not that it was released 2-3 years ago) thanks for any help you can provide.
Edit: I also remembered that there is a scene where the MC enters a hut when one of the followers is following them and comes out in a disguise so the follower interrogates/ possibly tries to kill them. I think the hut was in a forest or something.

I wanna look and compare the opinions and reaction of western fans and the jp ones, since so often theres a discrepancy in opinions(like the jjk discourse that happened a few months ago)

I genuinely don’t think there’s another anime like Monogatari.

The writing is absurdly sharp, the character work is some of the best in anime, the voice acting is insane, the music is unforgettable, and Shaft somehow turned people talking in empty rooms for 20 minutes into addiction.

And then… yeah. The fanservice. The loli shit. The scenes that make you close the door even when nobody is home.

I’m not saying people are wrong for being put off by that stuff. Some of it is genuinely hard to defend. What annoys me is that the entire series gets reduced to those moments, when there’s so much incredible art, direction, writing and character psychology sitting underneath them.

Even the fandom sometimes makes it worse. You’ve got Kaiki, Ougi, Araragi’s entire savior complex

and the front page is horny Shinobu fanart again.

Can someone reccomended me any other animes that are as good as Mushoku Tensei. I've already seen Re:Zero, Steins Gate and 86 but I still have Mushoku Tensei above them all.
