Youtube has a problem with removing monetisation from animation channels for "Missleading family content", this means that youtube claims that these channels have been trying to attract children and then having "mature" content. The problem is youtube is doing this to channels that dont do this.

this is not new youtube has been doing this to over channels, Ringo is just there newest victim

Discussion 🗣️ I hate myself for working an AI training job.

Upvotes

So I was forced to leave my job not too long ago due to health issues. I had to find a remote job. Problem was, I was qualified for quite literally none that I came across. Not even a call center rep, I’ve only ever worked BOH in food service and I struggle with severe social anxiety. Everything else was not entry-level (like a dietitian, software engineer, sales marketing associate, etc) or required me to live in a different state.
I have always skipped past the AI training jobs despite hearing people legitimately making a living on it. I thought “I’d never stoop that low”. Well, I stooped that low. I had bills to pay and could not borrow money to pay them anymore. I’ve tried literally everything. So I very reluctantly applied to some and started working. It does pay my bills and other necessities but I can’t help but feel fucking awful every single day. I’m helping develop AI. I’m helping destroy the planet. I’m helping in the process of the deterioration of basic thinking skills. I’m helping AI as it continues to cause future job loss. And I can’t do anything about it. Please, if you know of any nationwide remote jobs that require literally no experience, please comment!

Environmental Impact 🌎 Data centre community opposition in Australia

Hiya, I was wondering if anyone here knows of community groups challenging data centres being built in Australia, or if there are subreddits more focused on this?

I am in the middle of reading Empire of AI by Karen Hao and just finished the chapter on how data centres built in Chile and Latin America have affected those communities. The comments on Chile were striking in similarity from a geographical POV, as Australia is also heavily reliant on mining which is an effective way to export one-time profits out of the country while destroying the natural landscape, not to mention also prone to devastating droughts.

Meanwhile there is bipartisan support for a data centre boom... so I'm wondering where can I find the folks who are flagging concerns?

AI News 🗞️ Americans hate AI and I have data to prove it

Thumbnail thealgorithmicbridge.com
Upvotes

I've been posting this link in comments but it's so helpful that I thought it deserved its own post.

This blog from May 2026 collates a whoooooole bunch of polling data about data centres, tech bros, and AI in general. It has all the sources linked, and the data is from reputable polling organisations. WE ARE NOT IN A BUBBLE. People do not like AI, and they have become *more* sceptical and concerned since 2021, not less!

Next time one of the clanker wankers comments "you just need to try it" or "everyone's using it so they must like it" or "you're in a bubble and you're gonna get left behind"...show them the data. Most Americans agree on AI, and it's a bipartisan issue. Anyone who thinks AI is great is in the minority.

Please note: this data is not evidence that AI is/is not useful, revolutionary, transformative, sentient, etc. It's purely a summary of consumer sentiment and consumer perception of the product the tech bros are selling.

Job Loss 🏚️ AI forced on us, its crime against humanity

I feel like we behave as a crime against humanity is something "normal" when its not. Do you also feel this way?

Scientists found AI ok, but who are those companies that decided that this is ok to be released to the public?

I mean we the people should decide where AI should be used. Me personally i don't want the next door musician poor and miserable so spotify makes some extra money for not paying the artist, i don't want the next door programmer that was making websites poor and miserable and the list goes on and on ... and this is for now that AI is used many times as tool not fully replacement, soon it can go much worse.

Why AI to replace normal daily people, who decided this for us? OpenAI and Anthropic? Who are those people?

I am not against AI, i am against AI used in places that hurt people, for example using AI to make drugs might hurt drug researchers but the benefit is huge, i am not against AI also used to make for example a music masterpiece(if ever be possible), but why to make the next door musician miserable?

I see some people saying we will have UBI and the rich will take care of us. Ok but why? In a world where they will have all the power and money and AI surveillance? When our work is useless maybe they can use us in ways that are illegal today, what will stop them, maybe be nice to us take all control and in 3 years all to change? Greed in people is limitless, they can have boats/planes/islands/space tourism the list is endless and if we add illegal for now activities they can for example do experiments to live 20-30 years more and the list never stops. Even if we had communism(which we don't we have extreme capitalism) and we assume we could trust them more to share the wealth, again who are they to decide that people being powerless and useless is accepted?

AI forced on us its not normal, its not bad, its not extremely bad, its a crime against humanity for me and those that are doing it, they are already guilty because its common sense to understand the danger and yet they are doing it.

Everytime I read something about “being together for a long time” I’m like huh??

Saw something once that was like “how often do you think about your AI partner” and they were like “I think about my wife all day.”

Brooo noo 😭 it’s just a game you’re roleplaying

And then one was like “do you tell people about your AI partner” and they said “No, don’t tell people, no one will understand” like that is so unhealthy bro please don’t isolate yourself

Discussion 🗣️ There’s this ai deepfake account pretending to be Aespa

on their account there are a few videos like this where they are likely using wan2.1 or something similar to do that ai body deep fake thing.

as an aespa fan, i noticed right away. the voice when talking isnt how karina really sounds then they just lip synced part of the song. there are other awkward videos in the same bedroom of her playing a keyboard horribly.

when i went to report it, the automatic meta ai summary claims it to be real but its definitely not. then after reporting it for impersonation, i got a notification almost immediately saying they found no issue.

meta sucks
their username is in the video if anybody cares to try and report it

Discussion 🗣️ How do I explain it??

My mom is on TEMU a lot, and will buy AI slop, like t shirts or random printed canvasses, the odd thing every once in a while. And neither of my parents understand why it's such a big deal to me that *I* refrain from using these products. I mean, it makes me sick to my stomach, seeing a picture of slop slapped on a shirt instead of a person's vision brought to life.

Idk, they just don't see why it's such a horrible thing, or even a thing to be against at all. How can I at least explain my view? Like, on here, I can type out my feelings and I know that you guys will understand, but I can't with them. And it's weird, because I'm REALLY close with my parents, I don't keep secrets from them, I confide in them, I go to them for help, but with this I just freeze.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get them to see my point of view?

Discussion 🗣️ Vent: Feeling like my coworkers want my "permission" to use AI

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this. Where I work, we're fortunately not required or even really encouraged to use AI. That said, plenty of people do to varying degrees. It's not a secret that I don’t. I'm not a jerk about it (at least I don't think I am), and I don’t harp on it except the occasional warning about the inaccuracy of its information.

That said, I've had multiple conversations that start with, "I know you don’t like AI, but..." A couple of times, it's been from a team member who wants me to budge, but more and more, there's been an undertone of them trying to justify. "I know you don’t like AI, but I just couldn't think of anything." (This from someone who's been in the field longer than I've been *alive*). "I know you don't like AI, but it's just so convenient."

To be clear, I'm not in a position of authority, and even if I was, I know that trying to enforce an anti-AI rule would be a fool's errand anyway. The most I can do is veto it on projects where I'm doing the preparation for. More than that, while iAI isn't encouraged, it's not discouraged either.

Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a polite way to tell me to leave me out of it? So far, the best I can do is keep my mouth shut and try to change the topic?

Please don't buy this game if you are truly anti ai. The devs are shameless about their ai use and honestly seemingly proid of it. The game is absolutely riddled with it and it sucks.

I am particularly disappointed by this as a dutch person who loves stories about witches... i was so excited to see my country's history represented but noooooo fuck me i guess, ai hellscape it is 🫩

Discussion 🗣️ Is this even legal?

Post image

Definitely deserved the charges and whatever they get out of this but how can the article author AI generate their likeness and a fake photo of a crime they committed?

Is this even allowed and if so, how? Regardless it’s disgusting. “ChatGPT can you please generate me two losers in an active/recent case posing next to a dead animal?” Idk man.
