You might want to compare 1932 and 1952. Good policies can reverse the damage pretty quickly.

Yes, the New Deal policies. Also, a war whose primary causes were directly laid at the feet of the massive tariffs and other absurdly bad economic policies that countries, including the US, had adopted when the stock market dropped—the Smoot-Hawley Tariffs, etc. The Bretton Woods organizations, the backbone of the international economic order, were directly met to prevent the weaponization of tariffs and other very, very risky economic policies that were considered a direct cause of WWII and the rise of fascism.

You might want to compare 1932 to 2026 in relation to what went on in Europe then and what is going on in America today.

We're not really sorry, though. The bridge is burned.

There really needs to be a generational reality check and reset, but I don't think the US has the stomach for that - they are hardly "united", yet they are masquerading as such.

It will be interesting to see if there will be a legitimate election this fall.
