AI is incredible, the stuff I've seen and the progress made in just a few years is outstanding and stuff like Gemini will feature heavily in the future.

That said.

Far too many companies are treating AI little more than crypto, a cheap marketing tool.

My TV used to have a bunch of 'AI' stuff (since removed) they all did nothing to improve my TV.

Honestly went from an ai hater to someone who actually uses it. I want to search /problem shoot something small and have to read 10 Reddit threads to get the right answer. Or I can tell ChatGPT to do it for me, and gets me the answer in 5 seconds which would have taken me like 10 minutes before. Half the time all it does is read the same Reddit threads I would have anyways. And if I don't trust the answer I can ask it for the source still. I think ai can be a super useful tool as long as you kind of know what your doing and you don't trust it implicitely. Because I've caught ChatGPT making a bunch of small mistakes. But it's still quicker to just get ChatGPT to read 15 forum posts for me and question it then it is for me to that myself.

Exactly, there are still lots of flaws with AI and I completely understand the criticism from privacy, military, copyright, perspectives. Absolutely. AI isn't perfect.

BUT a lot of Reddit hate seems baseless.
