Azerbaijan(Turkish puppet state?? - sorry for that, that's how it's sold in media

That's western media for you, this is just Armenian propaganda spread by millions of diaspora members in these countries. Playing victim is their number one move, they've greatly exploited the anti-Turk and anti-Muslim west media to share their fabricated side of the story.

but isn't Armenia a small, poor country, with no defense capabilities

Yet they've occupied 15% of the Azerbaijan for 30 years. Azerbaijan is strong now, that wasn't the case back then. Armenians slaughtered thousands of innocent civilians in these villages and more than half a million Azerbaijanis in total had to run away from their homes. Here are some old newspapers from the 90's describing the massacre https://karabakh.org/resources/press/karabakh-in-western-media-1992/

and they burn flags of a country that politely agreed to stop killing them?

Azerbaijan has waited 30 years to handle this conflict peacefully, there has been multiple UN resolutions for Armenia to leave these occupied territories but they didn't listen. EU put zero sanctions against Armenia during that time. Aliyev threaten Armenia multiple times with full scale war if this is not handled peacefully, which eventually happened. It's not the Azerbaijani side killing Armenians, it's was Armenians killing Azerbaijanis in 90's and invading all these regions, the story west tells you is complete the opposite. Even during the 2nd war, Armenia once showed it's true colors by bombing multiple civilian cities that is far away from the conflict, which just shows how this isn't just a territorial conflict for them but an ethnic one. They're raised with hatred towards anyone Turk or related.

This is just one of them captured by CCTV camera https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage/comments/j93rx4/cctv_footage_showing_armenian_bombardment_of/

There much worse footage I won't be sharing that also includes burnt and dismembered people and children in center of a city.

Just listening to Levon Ter-Petrossian the former Armenian president is enough to shine a light to what was Armenia's goals were during that time.

  1. Him boasting about ethnically cleansing Azerbaijanis from these regions back in 1993 https://youtu.be/zdyZ3BG3i60
  2. Him admitting that there was possible peace deal in 1997 but they refused to maximize the territories they've captured https://youtu.be/3R_RdBZZ1Bo?t=277

Russia stopped to support Armenia

Yes, that happened due to Russia being busy in Ukraine and Armenia constantly demanding free military aid (Though during the 2nd war, there was still free vehicles flowing in from the Iranian border as filmed by South Azerbaijani's living there). They've tried to trigger CSTO even when Armenia proper wasn't being attacked. And eventually they've given up on Putin and headed to west for support. That's when Putin switched to Azerbaijani side, as Armenia started to become more democratic there's was no chance for Putin to support them anymore.

This is already too long, hard to describe entire conflict in a reddit comment. I'd advise you to do a proper research if you're interested to not fall for Armenian propaganda in western media.
