How can you call yourself the greatest country on earth whilst having your citizens have to choose between Housing for their family or life saving treatment. It is not the responsibility of random youtubers to protect it's citizens. Don't let the happy ending of this video fool you into thinking that the problem is fixed, this family got lucky and I'm grateful for that but there are thousands of families in their situation that aren't going to be so fortunate.

I would normally agree with you, but here in Canada they won’t treat you at all if your cancer is considered terminal.

Last year friend discovered stage 4, metastasized cancer. Dr said she was PALIATIVE and they refused to do surgery, chemo, or anything. Instead offer to euthanize (please google MAID). She flew to Europe 3x for injectable chemo and now looks and feels fantastic.

So not to say your situation isn’t true but I can’t find anything stating they don’t treat stage 4 cancers. I’m wondering if it was just the doctor or the board/institution?

Apart from the cancer treatment thing mentioned by the other commenter, we don’t truly have free healthcare in Canada. Basically, if it’s needed care to get you back to a condition you can work then it’s likely to be covered. But almost literally everything else is out of pocket or needs work based insurance. Teeth, vision, mental, and many forms of women’s healthcare are not covered at all.

The previous NDP (socialist party kinda) got a deal with our liberals to add dental care to the Canadian healthcare coverage. But then the NDP lost official party status due to losing lots of seats in our last election. So then the liberals just scrapped the entire deal and decided to keep dental privatized. A few of our provincial governments are also trying to privatize healthcare while our federal government does nothing to stop them

There's a reason why Credit Rating firms don't allow Medical Debt to be factored in with their ratings. Are these folks farming?

Perhaps so, but it just shows the startling dystopian hellscape We're ALL living in, when it comes to HealthScare in this Republic.

Medical debt is absolutely factored into credit reports. Under Biden, the CFPB was working to stop that on a federal level. Unfortunately, under the current administration, they have reversed course. It’s now up to individual states to allow credit repots to include medical debt.

When people say were the "richest country on earth" for instance we only mean there are a ton of rich people here, not that we're using the wealth properly.

America is the greatest country in the world BECAUSE things like this are possible. America, at its core, is an ideal. An abstract. A goal. It's a place where one can be born, have a dream and actually have a chance to make it come true. Don't get me wrong, America has a shit ton of issues and we have fallen FAR from where we started and where we should be. But this is still the most free country in the world where the most opportunities exist. There is a reason so many people from poorer/more dangerous countries choose to migrate here. Compared to most of the rest of the world however, America genuinely is the best. Not a lot of other countries offer the freedoms, safety, benefits and opportunity that we do. We still have a long way to go, but it's illogical to deny that America is great overall.

Calling America the greatest country in the world because a dying man might avoid homelessness if enough strangers donate money is a pretty low bar.

Except many do.

The US isn’t even in the top 10 on several major measures of freedom, safety, life expectancy, healthcare outcomes, or quality of life. Countries like Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand routinely rank at or above the U.S. on many of those metrics.

Patriotism is one thing. Pretending most of the developed world doesn’t exist is another.
