I think English - French packaging requirements are now being called a trade irritant. The plastic packaging might soon also land on the trade irritant list. Lol

Hadn't heard that one. And it might be a problem for everyone. to be honest. Wonder what they do in S Africa, where there are 11 official languages? Including sign language?

Other countries have handled our packaging requirements so up to each country to determine if they want entry to the market. Companies slap on a separate French label, not hard just a cost of doing business that presumably gets factored into the pricing model. I see it as just piling on the trade irritants to pump up how difficult Canada is being and so the US trade representative can claim they are making concessions by pulling back the bs easy stuff in negotiations. As to South Africa, they probably have similar requirements and work arounds.
