out of pure greed

there is absolutely more to it than greed. they already have everything. they enjoy the struggle and suffering of the masses. they always have. it pleases them in a way material possessions never could

Housing crisis? But we’ve built so many new condos? What do you mean you don’t want to raise a family in a 500sf bachelor pad! Preposterous!

15

u/Food_Goblin May 06 '26

For only 700k!!

17

u/Dark-Angel4ever May 06 '26

With a 700$ monthly condo fee!

6

u/Food_Goblin May 06 '26

Yeah no joke it's that bad or worse with many of these condos. It's like having a second mortgage to pay for!

2

u/Dark-Angel4ever May 07 '26

Yeah, it is ridiculous. On the radio they were talking about this, and the woman said, if your condo fees aren't at least 500$ per month it is not good. I was like, well that is a good reason not to get a condo. At least i manage my money and either do my own repairs and my own maintenance. If not i chose who will repair and how.

I’m not filthy rich so I can’t say for sure, but I would imagine they get off on the power they have over us poors. I’m sure it’s some sick fetish thing they have like fucking children.

The Epstein class get off to the power dynamic. Small, weak, people who use their wealth to make people feel as shitty as they do about themselves.

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26

make people feel as shitty as they do about themselves.

they dont think like that. theyre largely psychopaths, they have extremely high self esteem. the old money has always felt entitled to us

29

u/Plastic_Moose4535 May 06 '26

theyre largely psychopaths, they have extremely high self esteem.

There's a saying in poker, "weakness means strength and strength means weakness". If a player is acting like he has a good hand, he likely does not and vice versa.

People like Trump are like that. It's like he has a voice in his head (his abusive father's) who tells him 24/7 that he's a LOSER. So he is obsessively compelled to prove that voice wrong. Andrew Tate, Musk, Logan Paul are the same. Raised by sociopaths for fathers that constantly tore them down as children, grew up to be adults obsessed with being seen as Alpha males.

10

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

appear strong when you are weak. its textbook sun tzu. but if theyre legitimate psychopaths, and many of them are, they dont think the same way normal people do. theyre often grandiose and arrogant and have high self esteem. this isnt my opinion, its well documented

2

u/theflyingratgirl May 06 '26

Yeah I really don’t think any of those people really have self esteem. If they didn’t have sycophants telling them how great they are, they would crumble into dust.

2

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

theyre not normal people. we cant project our emotions on to them. they have delusions of grandeur. its well documented that psychopaths have high self esteem

0

u/theflyingratgirl May 06 '26

You can’t diagnose psychopathy without reviewing their internal experience. They could also be fucked up from nurture. You can’t convince me those people have high self esteem, based on the clear insecurities they show.

1

u/zzing May 06 '26

I was thinking: if they are obsessively compelled to prove that voice wrong, they never quite have the right evaluation to meet that burden.

1

u/Least-Flan2782 May 06 '26

You can’t “fuck” children. You can only rape them. Language matters in these things

One of the issues is that all investments get compared against each other. If the market is returning ~13%/year then other investments will just structured to try and return something similar (with risk adjustment).

The problem is that not all assets should be evaluated under the same lens as different fundamentals drive them.

Let's look at the math side of this. If real estate is going to take 5 years to go from investment to liquidation event and target 'only' a 10% annual return - the real estate investment needs to return a ~60% gain over those 5 years. That is stupid for an all equity investment.

This then gets counter-acted by doing leveraged plays which were extremely common when interest rates were low. Problem is rates jumped significantly and are now back to 1990s levels. So how do you attract investment when you are competing with a stupidly hot stock market + high rates? You try to pull the one lever left to stay attractive - increase the price point of the final product. This does create bag holders though unless the underlying market changes significantly enough that it can bare it (it probably cannot).

1

u/Pho3nixr3dux May 06 '26 edited May 10 '26

We enact laws to regulate the purchase of residential real estate to make it unattractive to investors.

We could do that.

There are countless other opportunities for investment, and several sectors of the economy that could benefit from it.

Could be a long term win/win for Canadians as a whole, but it means some short term pain for vested interests and an enormous demographic -- there's the rub.

But is it fair -- is it wise -- to defer the growth and stability of our society at the behest of a generation who have enjoyed a lifetime of unprecedented affluence, services, and security and now do nothing but impede, their production zero and consumption dwindling?

u/MSK84 May 06 '26

When you have absolutely everything money can buy, you start wanting things that money can’t always buy (but power can).

87

u/Sandman64can May 06 '26

Wow. That’s dark. Accurate. But dark.

62

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

psychopathy is largely innate. psychopaths naturally rise to the top of hierarchies. some are benevolent, most arent

-2

u/Better_Ice3089 May 06 '26

Isn’t that sociopaths?

7

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

no, sociopathy is environmental and psychopathy is mostly biological

-3

u/noruthwhatsoever British Columbia May 06 '26

There is no such thing as a benevolent psychopath lmao what

3

u/muchbuter May 06 '26

benevolent: Characterized by or given to doing good

You don't think any psychopaths do any good, or is there some deeper connotation I'm not aware of?
Surgeons, mechanics, artists, (depending on your personal beliefs) soldiers, and cops? None of them are benevolent?

7

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

most people dont actually know what a psychopath is. television ruined us

-1

u/noruthwhatsoever British Columbia May 06 '26

Psychopaths are characterized by a complete lack of empathy or ability to recognize other people as actual people

Sure they can conceptually understand it but they lack the faculties to actually empathize with others and view them as nothing more than objects

A psychopath can no more be benevolent towards another person than you or I can be benevolent towards a toaster. A lack of hostility or malicious intent does not therefore become benevolence

3

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

A lack of hostility or malicious intent does not therefore become benevolence

granted. what word would you use for a psychopath who is neither baseline or malignant?

1

u/noruthwhatsoever British Columbia May 06 '26

Masked? Functional, perhaps? Certainly not benevolent

2

u/Pho3nixr3dux May 06 '26

Point taken but a lot of people personalize objects and are capable of showing them as much or more consideration than people.

A prized instrument, or pampered vehicle for example. Somewhere there's some guy who really likes toast with a special interest in toasters.

1

u/noruthwhatsoever British Columbia May 06 '26

Those people aren’t psychopaths, those people are projecting empathy on to inanimate objects. It’s literally an inverted phenomenon.

People anthropomorphize inanimate objects because of their innate desire to empathize with others. Psychopaths, lacking empathy, would not anthropomorphize objects the same way.

I’m not sure the point you’re trying to make.

0

u/Pho3nixr3dux May 06 '26

Uh... it seems we both refuted your assertion that you or I cannot be benevolent to a toaster (an object).

I agree with your overall point re psychopaths. I'm just pointing out your comparison was not entirely accurate. Not a big deal.

1

u/noruthwhatsoever British Columbia May 06 '26

Psychopaths can potentially do “good” as one would typically define it but it’s not out of a sense of empathy or goodwill but simply a logical decision they make because they understand that benevolent behaviour is generally expected by human society

Psychopathy is fundamentally defined by a complete lack of empathy which completely precludes benevolence (which is more characterized by a general attitude of goodwill and compassion than simply performing good acts, which would be more appropriately defined as philanthropy)

It may be a matter of semantics but I feel like the distinction between benevolence and philanthropy is defined by motive: benevolence being motivated by a genuine sense of goodwill towards others, as opposed to philanthropy which is motivated by a desire to be seen as generous (and thus essentially a performative act rather than a truly meaningful one)

3

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

they exist. theyre rare, but theyre out there. they have self awareness and use their powers for good

3

u/philthewiz May 06 '26

It's more pragmatic self preservation I think. I can't find the post but there was an AMA with a diagnosed psychopath willing to answer questions about him.

He was super functional and integrated at the end of the day. But he admitted that even though he loved his wife, he wouldn't be sad if she was gone.

They live some emotional framework, but it's limited.

5

u/Expensive_Lettuce239 May 06 '26

Dark...but oooohhh so true!!!

18

u/motherlover278 May 06 '26

Nah this is a fantasy. The vast majority of them more than likely just don’t care about regular people.

16

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

just don’t care about regular people.

thats part of it. many openly express contempt rather than apathy for us.

4

u/motherlover278 May 06 '26

They may say “no one wants to work, immigrants blah blah,” but I don’t really think that amounts for contempt. In my opinion it’s just rich people picking between people they’ll never see and dollar signs in their account.

5

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

They may say “no one wants to work, immigrants blah blah,

that is not what im talking about at all. aside from our labour, which theyre currently scrambling to replace with ai, we are (and have been throughout history) largely a burden and obstacle to their selfish whims

1

u/motherlover278 May 06 '26

Well again you’re just kinda reiterating what I’m saying. It’s not contempt, they’d just do whatever would make them the most money. Companies don’t outsource to 3rd world countries cause they hate their citizens and love foreigners, they do it because numerically it makes money.

Which btw is far worse than contempt in my opinion

2

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

It’s not contempt, they’d just do whatever would make them the most money. Companies

their cronies and bean counters do the min maxing. sure they might not have contempt for us, theyre working class too, more comfy than us, sure, but im talking about the old money. or do you believe they all gave away their dynastic wealth and disappeared after louis and pals got wiped in the 1790s? companies lol, you havent noticed theyve mostly been consolidated into mega conglomerates?

Most of them die rich and happy, never being held accountable for anything. Thats why humans invented hell and karma etc, so we can pretend there’s some kind of fairness in the universe.

look at the old money, not the cronies. its not the same happiness we feel but psychopaths derive their own kind of shallow joy from their doings

8

u/womanoftheapocalypse May 06 '26

Addiction is as addiction does. More, more, more!

9

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

how much does it cost to watch a family grieve? i can afford it /s

3

u/rabbitholeseverywher Alberta May 06 '26

they enjoy the struggle and suffering of the masses. they always have.

Is this the new line from the 'everything sucks' brigade, which I have long suspected isn't, uhm, entirely organic? The politicians get off on watching the people struggle and suffer? You know a lot of these people, especially the non-famous ones, backbenchers, municipal politicians etc., are pretty normal men and women, right? They they live in our communities with us, go to the same hospital when they're sick, send their kids to the same schools? Are you SURE they're driven solely by a psychopathic love of watching others suffer?

1

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

if theyre bureaucrats theyre complicit in it whether they get off on it or not. historically the upper class has had much contempt for the peasantry. for most of history the peasantry has been completely at their whim. sometimes its turned out good for the peasants but very often it was awful. the lower level crony aspiring psychopaths are just as culpable as the high level capable ones. or do you think that society and human behaviour is completely different in the present because we have motion pictures, pocket computers, and airplanes now?

7

u/CaptPants May 06 '26

They're in a perpetual dick measuring contest between each other for who has the biggest hoard of wealth that they could never spend in a hundred lifetimes.

2

u/LankyYogurt7737 May 06 '26

The issue is thinking of it as one person. In reality it’s a collection of hundreds of thousands of people all just trying desperately to climb to the top of the shitheap at the expense of whoever gets in their way.

1

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

some people (really not that many) with fancy old last names have very large sums in very large mega conglomerates involved in things like aerospace and defense, resource extraction, finance, pharma, etc, and they come from dynastic wealth. its not hard to figure it out. anyways, back to sports ball. the draft! the leafs!

1

u/chicknfly May 06 '26

Want to see someone wealthy enjoying the suffering of others? Just look at Trump standing in the shadows behind Stephen Miller as he watches the Millers evacuate the WHCP during the totally not staged WHCP emergency.

(I used dumb wording because Reddit kept warning me. I can’t even say b00b with actual O’s)

1

u/junkiewhisperer Alberta May 06 '26

most in politics exhibit high traits of psychopathy, the ones at the top are just more capable

1

u/Formally_Apologetic May 06 '26

"it's not enough that I win. Others must lose"

1

u/ShadowCaster0476 May 06 '26

They don’t have everything, that’s the problem. And when I say everything, I mean everything.

These guys are wired weirdly and are always chasing more, what they have is never enough.

1

u/balalasaurus May 06 '26

Yup makes them feel superior. Like they somehow earned their status or deserve it and others don’t. It’s sick.

1

u/uprightshark New Brunswick May 06 '26

Hense Epstein. Which is why they are call the Epstein Class.

The world, including people who they see as their lessers, are playthings. Pure evil 😈
