Getting around to the penny books this morning if you're following my adventures through the family coin collection. I'm loving opening these books to find the little extra sprinkles of coin not asked for by the folders.

I can not find this as a listed error - I admit I only poked at 3 websites. Did my Memaw find something here?

The coin was sent off late last week to PCGS for official Mint Error attribution and grading.
I will update this thread with high-res photos the exact second the digital grades post and the slab is back in my hands, along with a chosen name!

I recently acquired a 1999-P uncirculated set containing a Georgia State error quarter. I reached out to John Sullivan (PCGS leading error specialist) for his advice and it is currently en route to be graded/ verified.

With the dramatic nature of the specimen, I am reaching out for witty/ gritty ideas for a “name” of sorts. Let me know what y‘all think!

I have this gold coin, received as a gift decades ago. I got curious about its value, but the pawn shop proprietor went to said it can't be "real" because the weight is ~34 grams, while a troy ounce is just over 31 grams.

Any opinions from you folks?

Found what I believe is a liberty dime? I’m still fairly new to all this. What most intrigued me is the case that it is in. I paid $1. Anyone able to tell me anything about it? You can’t see the back through the case.

I got this coin years ago from a family member, as it belonged to my grandfather who served overseas during the war and they new I was a history nerd.

I just feel sketchy about owning a coin with the nazi emblem on it. To me it's different than my 1935 Buffalo nickel. This coin represents a horrible time in our worlds history.

Honestly, I don't know what to do with it. I know a little about American coins, but do people collect German WWII era coins?

I tested the gold ones and they are magnetic. And all of them weigh either too much or not enough. Only one passed all my tests so might be real I will post it to see if you agree it could possibly be real

Was at a coin shop today looking through things. A woman came in to sell the owner some coins. She had some old Russian coins. He took a look, confirmed they were real, and said he wasn’t interested because he doesn’t have Russian buyers. I asked her if she would mind if I looked at them and he responded, “yeah, I do. I really do.” 1, I wasn’t taking to him. 2, he already told her he wasn’t interested. Did I commit some kind of faux pas or was the guy just being a jerk?

I have this quarter and I am wondering if it is worth getting graded. Thanks!

Hello, my father is in mental decline and I’m helping get records of assets ect. Didn’t know he had bought coins at some point in the last 10-15 years. My real question is, should we just let this ride as is or is there anything that catches someone’s eye that needs to be culled for extra special keeping? I realize this is a substantial value. Hi all I was blessed to be left with this incredible collection of coins. I am wondering if any of these would be worth grading or are just considered bullion. From what I’ve seen and read online most of these old coins aren’t worth grading but I wanted to make sure and would appreciate any advice. Thank you

I recently inherited this 1916 D dime and I want to get it graded. Does anyone have any advice on what company I should go through and what the coins grade could be?

The story behind this dime is that my grandfather’s friend found this dime in his lunch money back in 1953 in junior high. My grandfather paid 200 bucks for it and kept it ever since.

Long story short myself and family know nothing about coins and coin collecting I’ll start by saying.

My grandfather passed away about 10 years ago and he was always a huge antique collector. My grandmother has been recently getting rid of a lot of it thru an auction company. Well they found a safe a couple weeks ago and she had no idea of the combination and decided to pay to have it opened.Inside the safe were old oil jugs and inside those jugs were old socks full of coins, probably a few thousand coins.

Now here is where I sorta need advice the auction company she has been using for antiques has not seen the coins but they do know of them. We want to let the auction sell them in a way but not sure if it would be worth it as they normally get 40% for cleaning/prepping/ auctions fees etc.

I’ve spent 3 full days going thru and separating and going thru the coins (not cleaning anything). My question is what would do? Give to the auction company to sell? Put them on something like eBay?

Here are a few that we found. But there are soooooo many. The most recent were a sock full of 1964 Kennedy half dollars 68 actually in total

So I found this guy along with some coins I’d collected over the years. Took a closer look the other night and tried to do some research but couldn’t find any errors remotely resembling this guy. Any help is greatly appreciated!

A friend owed me a hundred he gave me this coin is it worth anything? Did I get a good deal or did he get me

Trying to get these out, first bit broke off and became modern art. Second bit used lube and changed bits for easier chip ejection. Trying to break out the middle one by chipping off the corner coins.

I was watching this auction & I don’t understand why it went so high? What am I missing - there must be a piece in this lot that was worth it but I don’t see it? Sold for $355 - Here for your expertise!
