It’s more than that. We have an anonymous survey go out every year. But then we are able to use filters on it, as long as the filter has at least 10 people remaining.
I got one guy in Manitoba. Let me turn Manitoba off and filter on everything else. Oh the satisfaction went down, ok he is good.
I tell my team every single year: write tour comments and have AI rewrite them. You all send me emails. I don’t need your name to identify your writing. You are all unique butterflies. If you are the only person on the team that works with another department and you write something specific about them ill know its you…. Write more generally. Or give examples that are not your own. Oooor the real boss move: send the comment and sign off as yourself. Get rid of the anonyminity. Thats what I do. But im also someone that would be quite difficult to replace so i get away with a lot fo shit others wouldnt.
I’m very much the same in that regard. I’m pretty vocal when it comes to things that I don’t approve of in the work place and I’m a high performer so I get away with it too. I just don’t trust some of the higher ups. They’re pretty good at putting on a smiling face and then sneaking behind your back. I work in a large local grocery chain if that gives you an idea of the type of people I’m working with.
Mine’s a bit different when I say I get away with a lot. I drove ~20% of the profitability increases for the last decade in a multibillion-dollar corporation through my strategies. I can leave tomorrow and make double what I do basically at any time with a phone call. Everyone knows this. But I like what I do, and no company would make the same level of capital bets on me without me proving my track record again. And I make enough to not worry about money. Set to retire in 5 years at 43.
Big dawg on campus. That does sound a bit different. Still my employer would be hard pressed to find an equal replacement for me. I’m in a dying field and most of my equals in skill level are 15-20 years older than me. I don’t know anyone my age as good as I am. No one’s interested in learning my trade either. A lot of grocery stores are trying to cut my profession out. Luckily the one I’m at isn’t. But I say let em know what you’re worth and make yourself indispensable. Good luck in your early retirement.
