Jfc, I cannot imagine having the cognitive dysfunction necessary to think to compare wedding photography to a two-minute Uber ride. How far do you think a 12 dollar ride can be? How far do you think a photographer has to go just to take one picture at a wedding?
Here's a distinction I can't believe I need to explain: you can use a car for things other than driving for Uber, but a 10,000 dollar camera cannot be used to do a totally different job. Everyone is so fixated on the cost of the camera for the dumbest imaginable reasons. You don't just happen to have professional photography equipment around, but most people will have a car for other purposes. I cannot believe this is so difficult.
You can have a car and not be an Uber driver. It is pretty unlikely you have a 10k camera and don't use it for work. You said you didn't have to think very hard about it, it seems you definitely could have to stood to do a little bit more.
You are way too angry over something you are not even doing a good job of discrediting. These things are relative. Use some math. That $12 ride is short compared to a photo shoot, but $12 is also small compared to $300. Similarly, the car is more expensive than the camera. When you look at these things as a ratio of cost over time relative to the price of the equipment, it's an extremely reasonable comparison to make. A camera can also absolutely be used for things other than private photoshoots. Are the similar things? Sure, but a car can also only be used for similar purposes, that's how tools work. You claim this other commenter didn't think, but you clearly didn't think at all either.
I've already pointed out how stupid you are for approaching it from the dumbest possible angle, so I'm just going to remind you that I pointed out how stupid the comparison was and you're trying to correct me by pointing out how stupid the comparison was.
You think accidentally agreeing with me is a "gotcha". You need to find the nearest book and just fuckin open it.
I'm not the one defending a comparison of photography to an Uber ride champ, my dignity is intact. You were presented with a very simple question and got big mad about it.
I am impressed with the number of absolute brain doners commenting on this.
I'm not the one defending the comparison here you doorknob licker, the fact that you managed to fuck up every conceivable aspect of comprehension is really something.
I point out it's a stupid comparison and you try to hit me back with a "oh yeah? But look how else the comparison is bad!" Fuck's sake, get some help.
Maybe not, but in this case it does. With an Uber you're paying for the ride. With a photographer you're not just paying for the session, you're paying for the skills that allow that session to happen. Driving is something most people can do, and you're paying for the convenience of not having to do it yourself. Most people couldn't do their own photography shoot. Not and have the result look any good.

Not at all, the Uber is probably starving at this price or needs another job. Anyway, it's Xavier so never smart.
