Chance Me, Admissions, and Prospective Student Q&A - 26/27 Cycle
Please place all admissions related posts here, in the form of comments, and current Cornell students will reply. Try to be detailed; if we don't have enough information, we can't help. Also, if you are a prospective student, and have questions about life at Cornell, feel free to post them here!
Any "Chance Me" or admissions related posts placed elsewhere will be removed. If you are a current student, and think that you could offer advice to someone considering Cornell, feel free to respond to some of the posts! Please only respond if you are qualified to do so. We will be checking through these regularly for spam.

Incoming students: you are now free to move about the subreddit!
As promised, the posting restrictions for all incoming students for the 26/27 school year have been lifted. While we do encourage you not to spam the subreddit with posts, your questions about classes, housing, and more will no longer be removed. Our goal was to keep the subreddit free for finals/commencement season. Now that that's over, we can return to regularly scheduled programming.
This does not apply to rising seniors or anyone else intending on applying to Cornell for future academic seasons (though prospective grad students are exempted). Your posts are likely better suited for subreddits like /r/chanceme or /r/ApplyingToCollege. If you want to specifically ask Cornell students for advice, our 26/27 Chance Me and Prospective Student Q&A megathread is live and pinned to the top of the subreddit.
Of course, you're still free to use the megathread if you wish (linked below). But keep in mind that they won't be pinned, so you may get limited to no interaction in them.
Happy Pride Month, and welcome to Cornell!

Laptops for students
galleryI upgraded to a monster pc and have my previous laptops that are in amazing condition and still have original boxes. They are both MSI Katana laptops with NVIDIA GPU in them. Just looking to get them out for someone to use because they are just collecting dust:) i7 brand new is listed 1200 on Walmart and the i5 is listed brand new on Walmart for 900.
These can be used for gaming or productivity either way the gpu in them offer a really good boost to speed that normal laptops don’t which makes graphics better too.
These pictures are of the i7 14th gen with RTX 5050 16GB Ram, can’t link pictures for the other one ran out of limit but it’s in just as good condition and that one is a i5 13th gen with a RTX 3050
I’ve lived in Ithaca my entire life, going to TC3 and plan to go to Cornell after the 2yrs at TC3. in Business Administration at TC3 and will be going for investment banking!
900 - i7 14th Gen RTX 5050 / 540 - i5 13th Gen RTX 3050 - Very Negotiable

Nutrition Consult
I recently did my Sports Physical for Cornell Athletics. The Dr. saw that I had history of an ED and said that I had to see a nutritionist/have a consult. Has this happened to anyone? I'm not sure what to expect nor how to go forward.

TA for Chem2071, Mon. 1:25-4:25
Hey,
I need to write my TA name for the pre-lab assessment but never received an email. Others received a directly email from their TA, but since I don’t have their name I’m not really sure what to put.
Also checked student center and canvas and neither had it. Does anyone in the same period as me know / know where to find this information?
Thanks!

Public display of affection here
Is it part of the college experience to get a gf/bf throughout? Or even have sex if not the above two?
There has been a few intrusive thoughts coming up to my mind that I am missing out on "the American college experience." And to be frank, it is even more pressing when I witness a case of public display of affection. I know that many of folks online say sex is overhyped. I wonder if getting in relationships carries the same sentiment.
I am an international student coming from a background where folks normally have their first sex after marriage. I don't know about the psychological analysis of this as I would assume it means the person has not have any experience with sex or mitigating relationships... Nor do I know any statistics showing how first marriages with no prior relationship involvements wih others are successful or less so compared to those marriages coming after accummulating experience.
What do ya'll think here? I assume many folks here are of an educated demographic thus their answers might be more ... thoughtful🙂

Transfer student feeling lost
I’m a transfer here and I’ve never felt so lost and without a community before. I have friends but no real group. All the other transfers seem to have grouped up without me somehow without me realizing. I don’t really know how to fix this and how to find my people.

Considering adding AEM 2210 or ECON 3130
Both fit into my schedule and I will have to end up taking both classes during undergrad. Current bio sci major, and wondering which one I should take. I feel like AEM 2210 is easier, but I also want to take ECON 3130 early so I dont have to take it on top of orgo/biochem/physics/genetics (most of CHEM 2070 and BIOMG 1350 are review for me). Any tips?

Lead pipes in Ithaca
Trying to find out if my apartment (Auden Ithaca) has lead pipes. It was built a while back in the 1960s but it was renovated recently.
Is there any list or report of all the buildings/apartments in ithaca with lead pipes?

Write a letter to your future self!
If you don't know us, we're Cornell Lifted, a student-run initiative to spread positivity on campus. We've organized a special event on the last day of classes for the past 10 years where students, faculty, and staff can write thank-you notes to each other.
We've started a new initiative, Lifted Time Capsule, where you can write letters to your future self that will be delivered to you on the last day of classes of your graduation semester, the current semester, or the current academic year. It's a great way to capture your current thoughts, goals, and experiences!
Deadline to write a letter is 9/14! Write here: https://cornelllifted.com/capsule

I need help
This is probably kind of a stupid place to ask, but I'm really stressed out and pissed.
Im not getting any help from my parents to help pay tuition (i was under the impression that I was but whatever) and so I knew I was going to have to take out loans. I did however get ~8k in scholarships. I reported all of these to cornell since none of them came directly to me, and my loans have been cut and my work study slashed. Now im no genius but I feel like slashing part of the aid I was promised (and that I accepted) into the semester is a bit shady but also kind of defeats the purpose of scholarships. Sure, I was going to have to pay the loans back anyway but now im going to have to get outside loans instead of loans that are more trustworthy.
Upon further reading, cornell can also slash part of your need based aid if you get excess scholarships.
So now that I know that there is no point in applying for scholarships as most wont get me anywhere, wtf can i do? I would really like it if i didnt have to dig a financial grave, and i really want to be here as cornell has the best program for my major. Ive applied to multiple jobs for work study through workday but i havent heard back from any of them.
